good afternoon. we begin with a tragic case of an unintended victim in the east bay. a mother shot and killed inside of her home in richmond. >> nick smith joins us live now. nick? >> good afternoon. it was just before 11:00 that shot spotter sent officers here in richmond. they found two people had been hit by bullets but a 64-year-old woman whom

everyone called granny was rushed to the hospital. she'd been hit several times. she was a fixture in the housing complex. witnesses say she was here in this bed when the sound of bullets tore through this wall, and struck her in the head, side and back. >> she never bothered anyone. she's 64 years old. you know? people she didn't know, she'd talk to. i don't know why. >> investigators tell abc 7 news the shooting was not random and that the home was targeted. police say calls started coming in to 911 after shot spotter alerted them saying there were 15 rounds fired into the home. granny was hit multiple times and later died at the hospital. coming up at 6:00 what witds

say they d the minute they heard the shots being fired and who police believe is the intended target. nick smith abc 7 news. >> learning new details about a deadly triple stabbing yesterday afternoon. a 3-year-old boy remains in the hospital. a relative of the victims has been taken into custody considered a person of interest in this case. a neighbor who rushed into the house described what he saw. >> so i went in there and observed the father of the 3-year-old little girl he had her on the couch and putting pressure on her wounds shechl was covered in blood. it was gruesome. >> the man detained is 29-year-old ruben ramirez, he was arrested around 9:00 last night. >> a mountain lion is

two officials say they're looking at possible causes for the deadly blast including electrical problems as well as a golf cart that had been recalled. their probe ruled out terrorism. >> a terrifying home video of one 10 tornadoes that ripped through north texas yesterday, leaving six people dead and destroyed dozens of homes in the community. the twisters tore neighborhood as part taking out homes in the path including some built by habitat for humanity volunteers. residents returned to find devastation. officials say home asks building sustained significant damage. half were leveled as you can see in this video right here. the number is expected to rise. >> all of a sudden, you just find and see stuff going through the air.

sanford's ground breaking new plan is working so well it's about to undergo an expansion. the university will reward faculty and staff who leave cars at home and walk or bike to work. it's part of the plan to cut back on the number of cars clogging university streets during peak commute hours. the school became one of the first to offer incentives to employee who's come to work outside of the morning and afternoon commute hours. >> steve wozniak is headed
