>> live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. >> this is a friday morning at 5:00 a.m., we thank you for joining us. >> got the weekend ahead, how is the weather going to be? we will check with mike nicco. >> good morning, everyone. we will start with live doppler 7 hd. no need to worry about grabbing an umbrella or having patience on the road as far as the weather. we dry. that is good news. we will talk about what is going on as far as this afternoon looking down to downtown san jose you can see a beautiful skyline. temperature inland will run from 68 to 71 north bay valley. 61 in san francisco and 64 in oakland and 67 in san jose. we will have temperatures in the upper 50's at the coast where we will have a little bit more in the way of cloud cover hanging around the coast.

we are starting off clear with temperatures in the 40's and 50's and by the afternoon hours we will be below average but sunday rolls and we could be continue to 20 degrees warmer with the forecast in a second. leyla gulen? >> right now we have mostly construction but we have a brand new accident involving a car and some sort of unknown debris on the road southbound 680 as you come up on 242 we have a car that hit something and it is now in one lane. you can see we are not really showing any delay as you make the drive in the northbound or southbound direction so you are clear out of pleasanton hill to walnut creek with drive time traffic coming up in a little bit. eric and kristen? >> we have our big story developing news from oakland, the california highway patrol is investigating after a shooting on interstate 880 left two people dead after the warriors game. the shooting happened just after 10:30 and police say someone opened fire on a white porsche on the freeway.

the driver was hit. a passenger in the porsche got out of the car and was hit by a passing vehicle. both the passenger and the driver died at the scene. the nimitz was shut down with the chop and oakland police worked to investigate. it is now open and leyla gulen has been talking about that and we will have a reporter at the scene with more at 5:30. >> if castro trail, part of castro valley boulevard is shut down for an investigation after an officer-involved shooting. police say at 11:15 the sheriff deputies spotted a stolen car and pulled on the driver the driver got out and ran. a second person in the car tried to drive off, dragged a deputy a short distance. that is when another deputy opened fire. the suspect was taken to the hospital. two people were arrested. we have a crew headed to the scene to bring more in the newscast. >> dozens are drives in the east bay will get a shocking phone call from police or bank or both

of a high-tech scheme to steal their credit or debit card information while they filled up the gas tank. abc7 news reporter cornell bernard has more. >> police put out the warning to gas stations around walnut creek look out for something no bigger than this, a pack of sugar but capable of doing a lot damage. this station right here at north broadway one of two gas stations where police seized skimming devices which can capture a person's credit or debit card information. there is no way a custom would have known the pump had been tampered with because it was placed inside the pump. fortunately, the information stored on the device is now in the hands of investigators but a lost customers are still worried and so are police because they have a feeling that there are more devices out there. >> this could be a bigger possibility in the bay area that

there are more. >> i go home and check my accounts to make sure nothing is wrong. >> police found a second device down the street at the chevron station here. they do not know who put it there discovered by workers at the gas stations. police are contacting those people whose information was captured by the skimming device. they are also reaching out to other law enforcement agencies in the area to see if this is part of a bigger operation. >> thank you. it is 5:04. >> new this morning, more than 3,000 nurses throughout the east bay plan to walk off the job today to kickoff a week-long protest over benefit cuts picketing begins at 7:00 a.m. in berkeley and oakland and eden medical center and shut step --

sutter in antioch. >> "los angeles times" reports all uc medical centers are canceling elective surgeries ahead of a possible strike next week by patient care and technical workers. emergency services will not be shut down. patients already in the hospital will continue to get care but many elected procedures are delayed until after the potential strike set tuesday and wednesday. the workers union and uc are fighting over pension plans and staffing. >> occupy poverties set the stage if another clash with police when they try to move back to farmland on albany owned by the university of california. on saturday, occupy the farm protesters marched in own the tract of land and planted crops. on monday police made four arrests and ejected them. they are protesting the plans for commercial development on the farmland. >> a deal sacramento

teams in sacramento is finalized for $550 million. the sacramento investor group will buy the 65 percent controlling interest after they agreed yesterday. the details are still being written up but an official announcement is expected on friday, or today. >> warriors fans, the season is over but there was a lot to celebrate. they were eliminated by the spurs last night at oracle arena in game six. the warriors were in it until the very end of the game down by two points with less than five minutes to go but san antonio pulled it out 94-82 taking the best of seven series 4-2. warriors have to watch the finals on tv but fans are they willed of the first post-season appearance in half dozen years, and san antonio advances now to the when conference finals but look how next year is going to

breakers race after the deadly boston marathon bombings. the biggest changes is cameras. this year there will be surveillance video at the start and the finish. there will be more officers including special ops and bomb technicians just in case of the strict rules are if force, no alcohol, no floats, though large backpacks no wheeled objects and no pets. >> with the big race a few daysing a they are asking for help in solving a fatal attack that happened after last year's race when a map was attacked on may 20 by a group of people in golden gate park after he and his friends got in an argument with a group. he died several days later. police have released photos of the group martin and his friends were arguing with and they hope someone will come forward to identify them. >> a mountain lion caught in downtown santa cruz is back in the wild this morning. the animal was returned to the santa cruz mountains. it was first spotted yesterday

morning, authorities cornered it before shooting it with a tranquilizer dart. the veterinaries carried it out for a medical exam and determined it was healthy enough to be released. >> giant tarp is over a pond at golden gate bridge to get rid of killer frogs. lily pond was peace will but now it is drained and fenced off because aggressive african frogs jumped into the mix and ate up all the native fish, turtles and other frogs. the problem and amphibians starting eating each other. officials hope the measures will kill the frogs before they hop over to another pond. >> a highly contagious fungus is killing palm trees along san francisco's embarcardero. the disease limits the tree's ability to absorb water. 26 of 220 palms have brown leaves and wilted branches and it costs $5,000 to replace each tree. for now public works crews are

>> live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news, good friday morning at 5:30. we made it to the end of an exciting week. >> i am eric thomas and as we star the weekend, what does the weather hold. mike? >> great question. good morning, everyone, we will start with nice conditions on this friday for the morning commute and no wet weather just partly cloudy conditions from mount tamalpais this morning, it looks different than it did yesterday. we will talk about what will happen this afternoon, mostly sunny inland and 68 to 71 and sunny around the bay, 61 in san francisco, and 64 in oakland, and 67 in san jose. it will be partly sunny at the coast with temperatures in the upper 50's. a big warming trend on the way for the week with temperatures jumping from 10 to 20 degrees. it will be a nice weekend if you like warm weather.

as the game was getting out. thousands of people were trying to get on 880 when this happened. police say they had to shut down the entire freeway. they say two people inside a porsche were shot as they were getting on to the highway. >> on the scene we found one november with one person dead inside and another person in the roadway we believe was struck by a passing vehicle. >> they do believe that opinion had been shot. they have not made any arrests. they do believe the shooter was in a car. took off with no description of the car or the person and no idea the motive. they do not know if the victims just came from the game. it does not appear that way. they were not dressed in fan gear. but it caused quite a traffic nightmare and still looking for

the killer. >> 5:33. students in san francisco state are back in their dorm under increased security after a group of trespassers tried to occupy a residence haul hall. police arrested five and one officer was taken to the hospital after a clash with the police. they are the same people evicted earlier from an apartment building in ocean view district. a fire alarm was pulled during the protest forcing students from the dorm and they had to show identification to get back inside. >> police need help finding the killer of a woman called granny. several shots hit the 64-year-old as she slept if her bed. she died after being rushed to the hospital. bullet holes riddled the side of her home. detectives believe the shooter targeted her son who suffered minor injuries after being grazed by the bullet.

>> a girl is safe and a salinas man is in jail after a federal raid for child porn. the 58-year-old david stevens was arrested on wednesday after a manhunt. he is accused of sexually abusing a young girl and making child porn video. they were tipped when the authorities were found onland in denmark and she was victimized for years. >> the concern we had was there was ongoing abuse happening. a lot of times we cost across child pornography it is dated stuff. >> police believe this could be other victims. stevens will be arraigned in federal court next month. >> in san jose, a child is recovering after being hit by a truck and taken to the hospital. it happened at the intersection just after school let out at the middle school yesterday afternoon. a witness tells us that the truck dragged the child for some distance before it stopped. no word on the child's age. the driver is saidat cg.

>> police are looking for suspects and victims after credit card skimming devices were found at two gas stations. they were found at a chevron in valero and the devices are impossible for customers to notice because they hidden inside a gas pump. when a credit or debit card is swiped, the devices record the account number and personal information. police do not think crooks got any of that information because that is the good news and there are easy ways to protect yourself so you are not a victim. before you use your card check out the machine. if it looks weird don't use it and change your pin every six months. weapon it is time for a new card ask for a fresh card number. we have lots of tips to keep you safe at abc7news.com and lock -- look under see it on tv. >> the sheriff deputy of grandbury, texas expects to find more survivors of the deadly

tornadoes. half a dod people are still miss ing. abc7 news reporter katie marzullo is in the newsroom. they were extremely powerful. >> the national weather service is saying that 16 tornadoes hit north texas and the strongest was ef4 with winds up to 200 miles per hour. texas has not soon an ef4 since 1994. grandbury got the worst and one neighborhood that was wiped out was built by habitat for humanitity. they are saying one of the homes that was destroyed was about to be turned over to new owners. the official death toll is at six. two men and four women were killed and up to seven people are still missing and the hood county sheriff is saying the search is activity but it is now a search and recovery effort. >> we need to make sure to give all the families that are missing people the chance of closure. >> the sheriff says that crews will turn over every piece of

debris. there is so much of that out there. people would live in the hard of the hit areas may not be allowed to return to what is left of their homes for several days and it could be weeks before power is restored in some politicians. maybe worst all, there could be more tornadoes today through on and texas could be hit again. >> new this morning, the owner of an italian team competing in the new york's cup will arrive if san francisco after expressing safety conditions of the race. the fatal accident on may 9 near treasure island involved the seedish catamaran artemis that took the life of british sailor andrew simpson. investigators are looking into the cause of the breakup. the "san francisco chronicle" reports that italian owner has no plan to pull out of the race. the spokesman said he is coming to follow developments and see what changes the race officials proposal. >> the bicycle tour rolls into

the bay area for day six of 750-mile race with bicyclists in san jose for a 19.6 mile road across the city. on saturday, racers take off from livermore and circle across contra costa county before the big monster climb ending up on the top of mount diabolo. the race ends on sunday with stage eight from san francisco to santa rosa. >> what a season for the warriors and their fans. the season could be over but the team is getting big cheers after they were eliminated in game six by the spurs last night at oracle arena. despite injuries the warriors were in the game to the end. but stand tone pulled it off 94 94-82. san antonio now advancing to the western conference finals. however, warriors fans are thrilled of their team's first post-season appearance in six years. >> shark fans are trying to recover from a heartbreaker last night in game two their playoff

risk petaluma man has been found safe 40 miles away in napa county. the 49-year-old was reunited with his family after being reported missing on wednesday. his family was worried because he has a brain injury and he cannot perform every day functions without help. >> there is last minute drama on what was scheduled to be the last day of o.j.'s hearing in las vegas, a potential witness could take the stand for the district attorney's office. they are not saying who it is or what they may reveal. his lawyers left the coast house without comment but said in court the 20 would immediately object to this mystery witness if called to the stand. o.j. is fighting for a new trial for the 2008 amend robbery and kidnapping conviction. >> yahoo could be in talks to buy the social site tumbler, both all things d are quoting sources that say the talks serious with the price tag up to
