>> abc7 news starts now. >> an update on breaking news from 4:30. >> firefighters are sat the scene of a fast-moving house fire in marin county. abc7 news reporter cornell bernard is on the scene. what are firefighters working on now, cornell? >> they are looking for hotspots in the fire right now. we can say that three people that live in the home, a couple and their elderly mother, all of them got out safely. check out the extensive damage to this home right now. all of the cars inside the garage completely destroyed and firefighters looking for hotspot s in the attic.

render assistance which now is displaceed. you can see the extensive smoke and fire damage and a guest house in the back we told completely destroyed. that is the latest from abc7 news. >> firefighters are at the scene of another fire, a brushfire in the oakland hills. a reminder of a vulnerable spot as the summer fire season begins. abc7 news use amy -- our reports on the scene. amy hollyfield? >> the first location, the firefighter cosmonaut find the fire. the smoke differents and people called about the fire being in different areas so they lost ten or 12 minutes looking for the fire. they finally saw a glow from the

park off of skyline boulevard and they got there, got out quickly but they had to get through thick brush in the dark. what they have in their favor is the weather. there is hardly any wind here. they got the call at 1:47 this morning and got the fire out by 4:00. this is 500 or 600 feet east of the road so that is a challenge. they are not going to leave this unattended and will stay here until the sun comes up. they want to get an established line here with hand crews in there to shovel a perimeter around so you can see behind me several trucks from cal fire and the oakland fire department working on this. red cross is here to help the firefighters offer some coffee and water because they know they have hard work ahead of them. everyone is okay and no one is hurt with no structures threatened or damaged and no

victims from the fire. reporting live from oakland hills. >> thank you. more breaking news. this is from east palo alto where officers are investigating a shooting that left a teenager dead this morning. detectives are on the scene near stevens avenue where three teens were shot inside a vehicle last night. a 16-year-old was killed. the other two teens suffered non-life-threatening injuries. we will bring you more information when it comes in. breaking news in western marin county the highway patrol is investigating a fatal crash that happened on point reyes at petaluma road after midnight. the driver of white pickup died after he crashed into a tree and the truck burst into flames. no word on the cause of driving east road. >> time for a check on the weather forecast. it will be a warm weather forecast? >> yes, i felt the wins picking up toward the end of yesterday and we will check with our

home and abc7 news reporter cornell bernard has more. cornell? >> good morning, this fire appears to be out but firefighters from as far as san rafael are combing every inch of this house for any hotspots. they have found quite a few if the last 30 minutes since we have been here. three people live in this home with extensive damage to the house. the fire department says all of them got out safely. an elderly woman, her son, and his wife. this fire put up a lot of smoke. we could smell it and see it from as far as greenbrae. firefighters arrived here parts of the house were fully engulfed in flames and the fire moved to three alarms and ten engine companies responded and found the garage and either pas of the guest house on fire. the fire chief says it took 45 minutes to put it out. >>the fire was dispatched at

2:00 a.m. and the initial company saw a well involved fire behind the garage and into the full house. they started working on that. it got well involved and got in the attic and running into the main structure. >> the cause of the fire is still under investigation but at this point fire chief tells me it does not appear to be suspicious. again, extensive damage to the garage and we have a volvo and a vintage 1966 mustang which completely destroyed. red cross is onthe scene render -- on the scene rendering aid to the family. fire investigators continue to comb through the home looking for any hotspots. >> more breaking news. another early morning fire in the east bay. crews are in the oakland hills

making sure they have a brushfire completely out. this is video of the fire on skyline boulevard high in the hills burning near the sunset trails at joaquin miller park. firefighters were called before 2:00 a.m., calling a second alarm and asked for traffic control but they have released crews. now, we will take a look at the scene, you can see the flames are out, firefighters obviously are still in, and the timber and assure there are no flare-ups. if you are headed through the area, leave early as traffic along the skyline is expected to be impacted. >> we have breaking news from dallas, where f.b.i.s -- firefighters are battling a six alarm fire at a condo complex. some have had to be recused. a firefighter is missing. no word on what sparked the massive blaze.

making phony arrests. he could phase up to 10 years. he said that he suffered from depression and post-traumatic stress. >> happening now, police are investigating two deadly shootings in oakland in less than 14 hours. we were over the first of the early yesterday morning on 92nd avenue. a man died at the shooting, a second was injured. you can see in the pictures. another shooting at west street left a man dead and police are offering a $10,000 reward to information leading to an arrest in either shooting. >> a judge is expected to decide today how many workers can take part in a two-day strike against the university of california medical centers. the union representing 13,000 health care workers say the members plan to walk out at 4:00 tomorrow morning. the strike will affect all five medical centers including ucsf, uc san francisco in the bay area, and officials say they want the judge to limit the size

of the walkout to protect parent safety. the two sides are locked in a dispute over contract issues including workers pension contributions. uc has canceled elective surgeries for the next few days. >> losing your job is one thing but sorting through the unemployment paperwork is another. the phones at state unemployment offices will only be answered by call takers from 8:00 until noon. online help is available beyond that. the employment developing part is cutting phone service in half so workers can help customers in person during the afternoon hours. they say losing $158 million in federal fund forced the service reduction. >> san francisco residents who have something to say of a proposed increase in garbage fees have another chance to speak up starting at 9:00 this morning. the initial proposal called for the typical three bin household pay an extra $6.630 so the bill will be $45.51.

week. the national weather service said there were two dozen tornado reports with oklahoma and kansas hit the hardest. so far, one fatality, a 79-year-old man near oklahoma city. another 20 were reported injured. forecasters say more severe weather is on tap with eastern oklahoma and central missouri at the greatest risk. >> we have breaking news off the cost of chile this morning where a 6.8 earthquake struck around 1:49. the earthquake was centered 400 miles off the coast. there was no tsunami warning immediately issued. so far, there have not been any reports of damage or injuries. >> this is another new concern this morning about structural issues on the new bay bridge. thousands of steel tendons used to strengthen the span were exposed to rainfall and salty miss during construction and that led to concerns of corrosion. the sacramento bee reports the tendons were not properly sealed but there was no significant

corrosion. however, the newspaper had outside engineers look at data and they say the testing was "inadequate." a spokesman said the corrosion does not affect the safety or strength. >> we have 10 percent more than would be necessarily required. that 110 percent, only 1.5 percent were affected and of that 1.5 percent they only lost 5 percent of their strength. >> the spokesman said the experts reviewed the problem with this was being built in 2008 and created a cease of solutions including additional of ducts which would allow engineers to add more support tendons if needed. >> traffic planners say downtown san francisco will enmired in gridlock unless something is done to reduce driving during high traffic times with a downtown toll charge that varies with traffic patterns. today, "san francisco examiner" reports that the san francisco county transportation authority wants to reduce traffic by 27
