>> live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. >> good wednesday morning at 5:00. thank you for starting your day with us. >> it is gusting out there. the warnings on the bridges and the advisories have been lifted. mike? >> still gusty. but there are different criteria from c.h.p. and what the national weather service uses so we have small craft advisory at the cost for choppy seas and gusty wind. fat of the winds are up to 28 in santa rosa and oakland is 25 and half moon bay is 22 and novato is 18. everyone else is less than ten miles per hour. the first forecast today, we will start inland where it will be breezy with another temperature drop today. 69 to 72 degrees below average.

breezy at the bay, 61 to 70 and windy at the coast. >> we are accident lite at 5:00 this morning and over to the east bay we have some construction projects starting to wrap up at this hour. northbound 880 between 66 and embarcardero we will have a few lanes blocked but cones are being picked up in the southbound direction coming from high street, you will see another few lanes blocked but they are going to picked up shortly. this is the drive in san jose coming away from 17 along northbound 280 we have a few cars out there is all. >> happening now, high winds this morning so some people are waking up to damage and bay area commuters are getting a warning to be more careful. for more we go to abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield at the bay bridge toll plaza. you taking shelter from the wind? >> good morning, kristen, we

thought we would try something different. you may hear the winds howling your bedroom window and we wanted to take youen on to the bay bridge to get a sense of how windy it is. i am sitting in the passenger side and the photographer will take us here but i can tell you it does feel a little unstable up here. there were high wind advisories in place for the bridges until just a few moments ago so it is a signal that thing are improving but it is still feeling very windy and feels like a two hands on the wheel day. while we sample the bridge, let me show you video of wind-related problems we have seen in the bay area. this is video from last night in millbrae where a tree came on a car and shattered the windshield. this was at 9:30 last night. no one was hurt but an unhappy driver. in mill valley, another tree coming down around the same time

at 9:30, it crashed down on to some power lines. there are some issues overnight with all of the winds and you probably heard it overnight. the high wind advisory has been lifted for the bridges but the advice was for catchers and trailers to avoid the bridges because they could be tossed about. it feels pretty windy up here so you may want to consider that if you are driving a camper or a trailer. it is very windy up here. >> thank you, we also have breaking news from the south bay, santa clara county sheriff raced to the power station in south san jose after getting reports of a man wandering in the area and this happens to be the same pg&e power station vandalized last month by someone

who fire add high powered rifle into transformers. deputies searched the area and we will have more coming up at 5:30. >> oakland oakland mount -- oklahoma mourns after the tornado. the stunning numbers could grow. katie marzullo? >> as of this morning, fema has more than 400 personnel on the ground in moore, oklahoma, including national urban search-and-rescue teams and to help survivors register if federal assistance. a thousand people have already done so. here the latest numbers on the destruction: 10,000 people impacted, 2,400 homes gone and possibly $2 billion in damage. of course, that pales in comparison to a loss of life. the tornado killed 24 people including nine children. officials do not think they will

find anymore victims and they believe everyone is accounted for. it is a nightmare for joshua, his nine-year-old daughter was killed at plaza towers health try school and he was told this on tuesday morning. >> i could not accept it. my first love. my first love. >> this is new amateur video from the twister, the national weather service upgraded it to an ef-5 which is as big as they get. the tornado traveled 17 miles and was a mile ride. according to a tornado history project there have only been 58 ef-5's since 1950 and is the only city in the united states to have been hit by one twice. classes are canceled for the rest of the school year with graduation sermons still held and 300 people are weighing up

trying to put out flames. the three alarm fire happened on wednesday while two bodies were being cremated at a cemetery. on monday the family of a 97 -year-old woman received a phone call from the cemetery saying her ashes and those of 15 others were washed away by fire hoses needed to put out the flames. her family says that the insurance democrat has prevented them from getting closure. >> we thought we could move on and have my grandmother resting in her place but we don't know where she is. >> the family says they were led to believe the grandmother's ashes were stored in a main cemetery building and they were going to manufacture them next to the remains of her late husband. >> a mother faces criminal charges after police say shealyed about someone trying to kidnap her son. officers arrested the 23-year-old yesterday. our media pan, the oakland try bound reports detectives were

suspicious during the investigation. she told police that two people also stole her purse. surveillance video showed she left her purse at a pizza and she went back to retrieve it. >> patients at medical centers should expect more picketing today as workers continue the two day strike. hundreds of x-ray technicians and therapists walked off the job yesterday morning to protest stalled contract negotiations. the main sticking point is pension benefits and patient care. ucfs has post penned 20 elective surgeries and working at reduced staffing levels with replacement workers. similar walkouts have taken place at uc davis and other medical centers. >> now the forecast. >> you were talking about the wins and amie called it a bad hair day? >> yes if you have hair.

tornado, the record year for thunderstorm and tornado losses was 201 in joplin, missouri and alabama, and the five worse years were 28 state through last year. the insurance information institute sells the "washington post" it appears extreme weather incidents are more frequent and analysts on the markets say the losses from the storm could exceed joplin and alabama. not much of a break for autoworkers idling plants for only one week to ramp up production if pickups and fusion sedans. general motors is not idling plans at all and chrysler is only planning two week breaks of fewer than half of the not american -- north american plants. >> you may be experiencing gusty winds crossing the bridges but no advisories, just wind. >> i guess we are going to deal

has blown over the last couple of minutes, up to 28 miles per hour in santa rosa and 24 at half moon bay and ten in oakland and everyone below that. those winds are running around 10 to 15 for sustained winds but they will ramp up and get that fast. more cooling today inland with sunshine and 69 to 72 with the first forecast for the bay 61 to 70. it will be breezy at the coast if not windy and brick. 56 to 58. >> we had an early high wind advise are you but it has been canceled but amy hollyfield said keep both hands on the wheel because we have gusts. we are looking at the drive coming over the altamont pass where we have a brand new accident in the median, westbound 580, we are down to 35 miles per hour if that region and 33 miles per hour beyond the accident and it is slower headed
