breaking. storm victims told me seeing volunteers and support has lifted their spirits. >> one of the heart breaking pieces is what happened to two schools. both took a hit. we have dramatic before and after images this afternoon. now, let's take a look at priorwood -- briarwood before the storm after that tornado everybody made ailt live which is a miracle. now, take a look at plaza towers and sadly this is what it looked like afterwards, several children were killed there. so let's take a look at reasoning. there is a image of the plaza towers with one building connecting a classroom but where everybody survived they

separated classrooms. so when walls collapsed they were able to crawl into safety. >> now another image from moore, oklahoma. 22 lives were saved thanks to a quick thinking bank teller. you can see the only thing is that vault after the tornado came through. they couldn't get the door close sod one man took off his belt and looped it and hung on it. the tornado hit. all 22 people survived. >> quick thinking there. a bakery has come up with a way for people to donate all day long. the shopping center has been donating the proceeds of the red velvet cupcakes.

acres burned today. still a fierce grass fire sent up smoke visible for miles around. david, they work fast. >> they did work fast. you know is in the smell of smoke is still in the air. you can see from the grass you can tell how much burned theer afternoon. and the residents living around the field say they're lucky they didn't lose homes. sky 7 had the best view of the fire as it advanced to the east fanned by winds from singleton road. the fire created a large cloud of smoke overhead that could be seen about five mile as way and from freeways. >> it's a big open field with wind aiding it down the road it made it difficult especially as a -- it was moving at a moderate rate of speed. >> close to 50 firefighters

jaw. >> where this pipe came through it was off the vehicle. >> his brother tells me the resident leaves behind a wife, and two children. his late model solveo ran off the freeway, crashing here. and he was pronounced dead on the scene. >> i don't think the driver would have known. >> investigators believe the pipe is one like this. commonly used as a elevenaging tool to tie down materials on flat bed trucks. larry has 35 years of trucking under his belt and a safety record to match. >> something falls off you've got to be careful about securing everything. >> it took hours to clear the scene. the traffic back ups stretch fofrd miles. >> routine, make sure everything is where it's supposed to be before i leave. >> does that come from experience? >> of course.

santa clara county sheriff deputies looking for a man dressed in all black seen this morning outside of the metcalfe power plant in south san jose. the sheriff set up a peri meter after a guard reported seeing a person near the plant. this is the same plant vandalized last month when someone cut some cables there. at about the same time someone used a high-powered rifle to shoot up nearby trance formers is why they were so worried about what they saw. investigators believe these two are related. >> new revelations why caltrans decided to use, on
