good afternoon, everyone, i'm carolyn johnson. >> we start with a developing news in the south bay ai. school with us has been involved in an accident near the intersection of prospect road and deanza boulevard in san jose near highway 85. the bus struck a man riding a bicycle this afternoon. the bicyclist has been taken to the lopt with a leg injury. and we'll bring in more details as we get them.

>> now, to the latest in an i 5 bridge collapse. the governor says a search is being conducted to find a replacement span to reconnect the busy interstate. officials believe the bridge plummeted into the water after hitting a bridge gerter. three people were rescued from the river including a 20-year-old driving one of the car that's ended up in the water. >> all of a sudden it was like something out of a movie. you know? like a huge explosion in front of me. the ground just falling into the water. >> it's a major highway connecting vancouver with the u.s.. 70,000 cars drive across it daily it could be sometime before we know details surrounding that particular bridge collapse. >> we are live with more.

heather? >> get ready for engineering lesson of the day. key term is fracture, critical. in this case that means the skagit truss bridge was designed like a chain with a weight hanging off the bottom. if just one link breaks, the weight drops. it's a truss bridge built in 1955. uc berkeley engineering professor says the 150 foot section collapsed because it was fracture critical meaning if one piece failed, the whole thing goes. not all truss bridges are fracture critical. it's not necessarily because it was build in the 1950s. she says there are probably a cup -- couple hundred fraj tour critical bridges in

you can get the list on abc 7 news.com. >> the city of san francisco has agreed to set aside $4 million to pay for damage claims related to a february water maybe break. 25 homes and several cars were damaged in the neighborhood. city work crews dug up a nearby street several times before the main fail. erosion. does have a history officials are investigating whether the work damaged the pipe before it burst. so far, 27 damaged claims have been filed against the city. >> cal fire issuing a warning. warm, dry windy weather increased the fire danger in this area. a three-acre brush fire raced up the hill. >> i've been here five and a half years and never had problems. >> your house is stand something. >> yes. it's a good thing.

taking a look at alcatras and golden gate bridge, some milder temperature read ss in locations right now. 76 in fairfield. 70 in livermore, and as you look at our golden gate bridge cam, we have sunny skies at the golden gate there. the first forecast going to be breezy and cool this evening, mainly clear skies but low clouds developing during overnight hours, then, tomorrow, sunny skies, breezy and pleasant. it will be cooler than average but milder than today, highs inland into upper 70s but what about memorial day? i'll have the forecast coming up later. >> thank you. >> in moore, oklahoma city officials have reopened streets and neighborhood that's were gutted by monday's massive tornado. >> check points set up have been dismantled and residents being given full access to the suburb. mail delivery resuming in neighborhoods still standing. the city estimates tornado destroyed more than 1100 homes, many of them were torn apart

by the feds. he is accused of burglarizing the museum january 9, making off with precious art on display. and franklin is suspected of a november 9th burglary this, is one of the items prosecuters say he stole. a gold jewelry box dating back to california's gold rush worth $800,000. prosecuters say police arrested franklin when he tried to pawn this item. >> an oakland man out sell braigt his birthday ended up getting shot just after midnight. >> near the are corner of san pablo avenue and 18th street. abc 7 news explains why one mugger pulled the trigger, police say cameras may help them find those responsible fr shooting a man and robbing his girlfriend. police say an oakland man was leaving a club friday morning when approach bid three men in the 1900 block of san pablo avenue.

light rain, or showers moving through the bay area. so probably not completely dry or wet for that matter memorial day. overnight tonight, breezy, cool, mainly clear skies early. we'll see areas of low clouds developing overnight, low temperatures upper 40s to low 50s then, tomorrow, highs low 70s else wr. looking for highs from 64 san mateo. 69 mountain view. mid to upper 50s on the coast. 62 degrees tomorrow, 58 in the sunset district. north bay highs low to mid-70s for the most part. and on east bay, high temperatures reaching 66 in oakland. 68 in union city. inland east bay highs into upper 70s in fairfield and here is the accu-weather forecast.

the filming of captain america movie hit a snag because of a bad guy. >> a 2013 chevy malibu was weaving down interstate 71. turns out the car had been stolen from the set of the captain america movie being filmed in cleveland. >> we have our own action figures in middleberg heights and arrested the real bad guy
