>> abc7 news starts right now. there is breaking news. >> the breaking news is from the peninsula. a traffic accident has killed three people. good morning, on memorial day. the crash happened on hillside boulevard, and people have closed the busy stretch of road and people are kept back from the scene. our reporter joins us with what the reporter has learned. >> we are here on hillside blast, and behind me look at this, the police are still working on the accident scene. the triple fatal accident happened at 7:39. two men and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene. we spoke to the police sergeant

this morning who said he could supply very little information because the accident is still under investigation. >> this morning, at 7:39, there was a triple fatal collision at the intersection of -- actually, south of sandhill road on hillside boulevard. there were four occupants in the vehicles. one is still outstanding. we are trying to locate but we are not releasing the names of the family members. unless we release the information to the family members... >> we understand two vehicles were involved. we tried to find out what he meant by "one person still outstanding" and we don't know why that person is missing or their involvement. the police are holding off identifying the age or names of the victims or make and year of the vehicles. we got a chance back here to look at one of the vehicles, a

1990's green mustang. you can sea front-end damage to the car. this hillside boulevard is going to be closed for a while. we don't know how long that is going to be. this accident is going to be under investigation for at least a couple of hours. >> thank you. we have learned that the victim in a crash on highway 101 in burlingame was an international burlesque star from the bay area. the 36-year-old sarah klein who performed under sparkly definitely -- devil died when the car was hit by a party bus head on early yesterday. authorities say their car lost control, hit the center divide near the broadway exit and spun around to face oncoming traffic and that is when it was hit by the bus. she and her husband had been drinking. eight people on the bus suffered minor injuries. >> the chop says 117 people were arrested for d.u.i. between friday and sunday morning in addition to the accident in burlingame, there was one other

fatal crash. this time last year there were 136 d.u.i. arrests and one deadly crash. agencies conducting around the clock patrols at check points like this one. 23 agencies are teaming up in san mateo county, alone, with the checkpoints continuing through tonight. >> three people are dead following two shootings overnight in san jose. the first happened near north jackson at rhinehart drive, two teens between 15 and 17. a few hours later a man died after being shot on hayes avenue. our reporter spoke with the witnesses of that shooting. matt? >> yes, police released the latest information on the homicides in the past hour. they revealed that there have been no arrests. >> christopher's bloody shoes look at the traumatic night. he was in his apartment last night after 10:00 and he heard a quick argumentment and three

gunshots. chris tar ran across the street to find a 21-year-old dying on the sidewalk from a gunshot wound. >> i asked, do you believe in god and he said, yes, i said keep breathing, keep breathing. he was gurgling blood coming out of his nose and mouth. he was going in and out of consciousness. he woke up and said, i have a daughter, and then he died. >> police are vetting what led to the shooting. officers hoped their good samaritan could give clues. >> they wanted it know if i asked who killed him, i didn't think to ask, who thought you, just worried about whether he believed in god. >> the violence started four hours earlier, two teen boys remain shot behind a shopping center on rhinehart drive at 6:30 last night. one victim died at the scene and the other at the hospital. police believe the two victims are 15 and 17 years old and students at a nearby high school. officers hoped to track down a bicyclist seen speeding out of

the area. >> hispanic male, younger, on a bmx bicycle. that is the "person of interest" but we don't know if he is the suspect or not. >> these are the 17th, 18th, and 19th homicides of the year in san jose and police are vetting if they could possibly be related. >> thank you, matt. in san francisco, a search is underway for the person who attacked a homeless man while he was sleeping causing severe injury on morris street between harrison and bryant at 5:30 this morning. police used a yellow tarp to covered blood evidence. investigators say the victim was taken to the hospital with blood force trauma to the head. >> this is a slightly wet memorial day weekend in some parts of the bay area and there have been delays at sfo. our meteorologist, mike nicco, is here with live doppler 7 hd. >> one hour and two mit 90 arrival delays into sfo because of low clouds. i scoured all of the reporting

stations and there are more than 150 around the bay area and only one, sonoma county, had measurable rain only at .301". the humidity is in the 60 percent to 80 percent, so it will not be completely dry but we have scattered sprinkles from san francisco, and 37 in american canyon toward san rafael. better chance of some of the rain making it to the ground in the north bay where we had the waves of scattered showers move over in the morning. we have gusty winds along san francisco bay and the delta community from 1:00 o'clock until 9:00 and right now the winds are 10- to 15-miles per hour but will gust up to 25 to 30 miles per hour. scattered light showers through 7:00 and written fall amendments less than .1" with drizzle tonight and warming trend in the forecast. kira? >> happening now in the presidio the biggest memorial day event is getting underway to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and a small group of world war ii veterans will get a

special honor. abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield joins with the story. >> this special award for the world war ii veterans is coming up right now, the crowd is being welcomed and they have just quaterbacked the pledge of allegiance and now they are being addressed and welcomed to this event which started at w1:00 this morning the look crowded the cemetery is, excellence town out on this cold, gray day with quite a program planned. the emphasis today is on the korean war, they are commemorting the 60th anniversary of the end of that war. one veteran told me that means a lot to him because he doesn't think maybe of them will be here for the 70th. at 10:00 this morning they laid a wreath at the tomb tone of a korean war medal of honor recipient, william dean, and dedicated the ceremony to him. organizers say attendant has been growing at the ceremony the past few years and they are happy to see that. however, some say they wish more people would pause and remember

today. >> it is important. those that gave up their life and also gave up their lives, they never had the opportunity to see their children grow or do anything else and people should go back to when you were 20 and erase everything else. that is what happened to those that passed so we on them today, we honor, actually, a million americans that is died in our wars. >> this will be a very special ceremony for seven world war ii veterans who will be given the french legion of honor medal and the counsul of general of france will be here to award that for services during world war ii. what a beautiful setting for them to receive that award and one speaker called this the most beautiful cemetery in america. it is very crowded this morning with those who came to remember. reporting live in san francisco for abc7 news, i am aim -- i am

amy hollyfield. >> and one of the veterans, survivorred two bombs. dan franklin is receiving the legion of on. during the normandy invasion in 1944 he was delivered supplies to soldiers on the beach and the first landing boat hit a mine and sank. he boarded a second vote which was also destroyed by a mine. his children and grandchild are on hand for today's presentation. >> more events are held an the bay area this afternoon to remember our nation's fallen service member. in alameda there will be a memorial day ceremony on the uss hornet museum including a parade and special wreath tossing ceremony that started at 1:00 o'clock p.m. also at 1:00 o'clock, a memorial day ceremony at chapel of the climbs in hair. in the north bay, the national park service and the coast guard will hold a sir moan and moment of silence at point reyes national park.

acord was playing on causing significant injury like clemens bind. >> he faces charges of manufacturing and possessing a destructive device and attempted aggravated murder. he is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow. >> angelina jolie's aunt, debbie martin, has lost her battle with breast cancer. news comes two weeks after the 37-year-old actress revealed she had a double mastectomy and ovaries removed it reduce her risk. her aunt passed away in southern california. her husband said that she had the same cancer gene that angelina jolie has but did not find out until after the 2004 cancer diagnosis. if she had known, she would have done exactly what angelina jolie did. martin was the sister of yell joel's mother who died of ovarian cancer in 2007.

>> fire broke out on a royal caribbean cruise ship. it had to be diverted to the bahamas where it is now. passengers put on their life jacket and report to evacuation stations as a precaution. the video was shot by passengers. the fire was put out quickly and passengers were never danger. the hip is now being checked." >> a raging fire at an abandoned massachusetts school is investigated for arson. crews arrived to find an inferno with thick smoke over the school which has previously been a target of arsonists several time since being abandoned a decade ago. they protected another school to keep it from being damaged by the flames. >> in the bay area our meteorologist mike nicco has the forecast. >> crazy weather going on. crazy weather in massachusetts, too, 2 1/2' of snow in the mountains, a weird memorial day. ours is that way, too, looking from mount tamalpais you can see

covering petaluma and antioch and all the bay area, this is abc7 news. >> president obama is joining americans in honoring the nation's fallen war heroes. this morning, president obama laid a wreath at tomb of the unknown at arlington national cemetery in virginia and did a special salute to the service men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice half a world away on battlefields and city streets. >> today we remember their service. today, just steps from where these brave americans lie in eternal peace, we declare as a proud and grateful nation their sacrifice will never be

forgotten. >> the president also noted with troop withdrawal underway in afghanistan next year will mark the final memorial day during the u.s. war in afghanistan. >> we have some strange weather here in the bay area. >> beautiful weather there in virginia, though. >> damper here on some people's holiday festivities. >> no pun intended, right? >> we will check with mike and the forecast. >> we are looking at the leading edge of the possibility of sprinkles, and maybe a light shower around daly city and headed up to 280 into san francisco and south san francisco you can see the bayview district and right around san pablo bay and 29 from slay he to napa and you can see 37 across all the way over to, say, san rafael, and, also toward petaluma on 101 and 112 and 116 getting sprinkles. this is headed to the east so the eat bay -- east bay shore

you could be getting sprinkles the next hour. you can see the back edge of the dry air and we are starting to see that get close to mendocino county so this is a short event and falls on a holiday and one with not much rain in it. so, we are going to let less than .1" and downtown san jose you can see it is gray as we head through the only hour and scattered light shows are possible, cool highs, cooler-than-average, and we will rebound swing the temperatures up to the 80's and 90's away from the coast as far as radar, you can see the system to the west right now, most of the energy moving to the north and that is why the best chance of scattered showers is in the north because you are closest to the energy source. coming up on noon in the last wave of light rain showers moving into the north bay and through 5:00, just about freeway we could have a scattered light shower with the best chance along the coast and higher

elevations near the coast and also inland and most of the measurable rain has been in the diabolo rain at .01" and north of santa rosa is the only place seeing the measurable rain at .01". overnight hours we lose the showers but we keep the drizzle in the higher elevates and along the coast in the morning commute. we are breaking out sunshine by noon and in the afternoon. we will be locked in the cooler air pass so temperatures will not warm up much tomorrow with the sunshine. we are mostly in the mid-to-upper 50's in san francisco and mid-to-upper 60's for the rest of us the rest of the afternoon. here is a look at downtown oakland the battle of the bay going on with a game that will feature a lot cloud cover, a few rays of sunshine but mostly

fewer people are on thing to put items up for bid. >> a penguin decided to get up close and personal with some folks who came to visit its home in florida. the visitors at seaworld captured this video showing the penguin with guests in the viewing area at the new penguin attraction. witnesses say the penguin jumped from the exhibit and employees got the penguin returned home. the penguin wasn't harmed during the adventure or filming of this. >> he thought he could get in the water on the other side the glass. thanks for joining us.
