>> the breaking news is happening in san francisco's mission district. police are investigating a shooting that left throw people wounded. >> it happened before 4:00 this morning at 16th and mission street where we find abc7 news reporter with an update on what is happening there and a tie to an incident in the bayview. amy? >> we just got an update. we learned that one of suspects, rather, one of the victims from here at the mission location has life threatening injuries. the other two are expected to survive. they were not injured. they are were wrapping up the investigation. it is believes more than ten rounds were fired before 4:00 this morning. three people were hit. they are working the scene in the bayview district and we have new information from that scene, also, and her is video. police found a semi automatic weapon the street along with cartridges that looked like they

were tossed on the street. they found that while they were pursuing a car full of what they figured was suspected from the shooting. that car crashed and we have now learned they found two guns inside the car. police say they arrested three men out of that car. three men in custody and have been shot. one police officer was injured in the pursuit in the bayview when all the cars crashed and when the pursuit was happening he injured his badge. we told he walked into the ambulance, walked himself in and he is going to be okay but he is getting checked out. no word on the motive. we asked if it was gang related, if they were random people but the investigation is still underway. this is the answer. reporting live in san francisco, for abc7 news. >> we will check back with amy next half hour for an update and the coverage conditions on-line on twitter.

right now, because of the situation there is an impact with transit and laying lay. >> as we focus on mission street at 16th street we had the intersection shut down as amy was saying and the markers are picked up right now and we have mission street re-opened. this was affecting muni for a time and it was rerouting the 14 line. it looks like that is back on track and near a bart station. that was never affected so bart is running on time at this hour so, again, bart and muni are in good shape. we will take a look outside as we look at lots of fog, that is the golden gate bridge and you can see a few cars making the drive from sausalito to san francisco and use low bets, -- low beams, not the high beams. >> live doppler 7 hd shows the commute is not showing organized

were laced on the suspect when three passengers were killed. >> i have seen people stop at the temporary memorial on hillside boulevard taking a moment to remember the three people killed in a crash here almost 24 hours ago. four freeways were in a mustang at 7:30 yesterday morning and it rear ended a honda and hit a retaining wall splitting the mustang in two. three passengers were ejected. the driver was not seriously hurt in the honda. the driver of the mustang left the scene and turned himself in six hours. >> we believe the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, one, and, also, we are looking at the possibility of alcohol being associated with this accident. >> the three passengers died at the seen and identified at 23-year-old woman, 21 and 22-year-old men from daly city. police searched the daly city

home of one of the victims' relatives. it could take weeks for them to finish the investigation. >> in southern california, five people are dead after a fiery car crash in orange county that happened yesterday evening in newport beach. investigators say the car veered off the road, slammed into a tree, split in half and caught on fire the debris could be seen scattered across the road and a firefighters called this one of the worst he has seen in 30 years the. >> and news from passengers caught on a cruise ship that caught on fire. the first passengers are in the air on the way home to the united states. katie marzullo? >> grandeur of the seas passengers have been boarding flights for an hour and royal caribbean cruise lines flying them to baltimore. that is the first leg of the trip home. we have new images of the ship

this morning, caution tape with fire hoses on the ground, also some smoke damage on the wall and the passenger what appears to be sick. they said no passengers were seriously hurt in the fire but some did fall ill and some say what they saw seemed worse than what is being portrayed by the cruise line and they describe hearing explosions and seeing fireballs shooting from the ship. they say at first they were told to head to stations nine and ten which were engulfed in flames. >> it was a big explosion. and the fire came up at our station and exploded and we had to go elsewhere. >> there is this home video taken after the fire broke out on monday morning, and abc7 news is reporting the crew ordered passengers not to take any pictures or video. it took crews about to hours to put out the fire and the ship in the end was not evacuated and the cause of the fire is not immediately known but the coast

guard plans to investigate with the ntsb. passengers get a full refund and 50 percent off their next cruise if they choose to take one. another tweet says that the company will have an update on future sailings of grandeur of the seas by the end of the week. now a desperate rescue in marin county, saving a horse that crashed into this well and was in danger of drowning in a rural area at a state park. the nine-year-old horse fell in the 25' well year afternoon and authorities say the horse was walking over the covered well and the cover broke and plunged the horse into the 20' deep water and a private crane company was called in to pull buddy from the well. the owners now plan to build a fence around the well and buddy is set to be doing okay this or.

>> afternoon east bay educator will return to court to try to get his bail reduced, the 44-year-old man remains in jail for $950,000 bail. he appeared this court in hayward last week. he leaded not guilty to four counts including lewd actions with a child under the age of 14. three worked for the hayward school district and has taught workshops nationwide on african-american male achievement. >> san francisco police chief says that he has an idea to curb cell phone theft in the city. he says that he is pushing cell phone carriers to start a registry of cell phones and says people could deactivate the stolen phones. 50 percent crime is based on

cell phones being stolen. >> bay area teen is taking part in the national spelling beil today in maryland. the 13-year-old girl is getting a big hug from her mom after winning the 37th annual contra costa county spelling bee to months ago and now will compete for the national title in maryland. there is a new twist this year, the 281 contestants will need to know how to spell a word but now they must know what the word means, the first time in the 86 years of the competition there will be a vocabulary component. >> all right. >> mike? there is mist and drizzle out there this morning. 56 in los altos hills, 53 in los gatos, the cool spots around the south bay and san jose 60 and

sunnyvale and mountain view. mid-to-upper 50's an the bay the it is mild when you step in the mist and drizzle. downtown san francisco from sutro tower you barely see the needle in the lower clouds. temperatures are three to ten degrees warmer today because of the clouds not hanging around. they look stubborn on the golden gate bridge and tomorrow we will see temperatures the same with a little more sunshine as the storm passes to the north and look at these temperatures, 80's and 90's away from the coast and you will be in the 70's and i will show you that seven-day forecast. this is not as warm as it will be, we have warmer wet on the way in five minutes. leyla gulen? >> we have a crash in marin county. if you are traveling at the 101 freeway, the on ramp, we have an overturned vehicle and someone got out of the car and no injuries are reported.

out there which mike says should be dissipating as we get on later in the morning commute. right now the visibility could be hampered. >> i will figure you have never seen the inside of a tornado but look at this. a couple of brave storm chasers recorded this video in kansas yesterday. they were able to make it in and out of the storm by driving their tank-like truck called a tornado intercept vehicle. winds were blowing between 150 and 175 miles per hour. the vehicle stayed on the ground. the national weather service says there are reports of 16 possible tornadoes throughout the midwest yesterday. >> now a dramatic and sad rescue in china. crews, worked to free a newborn baby trapped in a sewer pipe. the philipine -- the baby is alive but this could be hard to were what. the baby boy spent several hours whenned in a sewage pipe leading from a public toilet in eastern china, firefighters responded to

a call on saturday from someone living in the building who reported hearing a baby crying in a toy lit on the 4th. five pound baby was attached to the placenta and is in stable condition this morning and investigators are looking for the parent. >> more cheerful news if you are looking for the happiest country on earth, head down under. the "wall street journal" reports that australia is the happiest country according to a new index from the organization for economic cooperation and development. after australia, it is sweden, canada is three, north way is four, and switzerland is 5th and the united states takes six. this list is based on economic conditions including how hold wealth and work/life balance. >> if you take weather in consideration we would rate high in the bay area. >> after this morning. still mist can drizzle hanging

out for you. most of it has moved on but there are select areas like higher elevations you drive into it or near the coast, that is where we fine the thicker clouds. as you look at live doppler 7 hd it is looking good and trending dry compared to six to eight hours ago inwith the rainfall. our rainfall totals are less than .1" but santa rosa is .17" but close to what we forecast. a mile visibility at half moon bay with the thickest clouds and were else is okay. in downtown san francisco the clouds are lifting with no flight arrival delays but i will keep an cry on that. it will be dry and warm this afternoon with the pattern developing on thursday and bring ing us warmer-than-average weather. the front is really being pushed

>> "consumer reports" checked out kits for older cars that cost $60 or less. there were some pluses and minus, one was easy to install because it is wireless but the audio quality wasn't great. a lot background noise. on the other hand, some kits sounded good because they plug directly in. a plus is you can talk or play music from the phone through the car speakers. but, that won't work unless you have auxiliary jack. it has good audio quality but you will have a budge of wires in the car. >> the easiest to install are those that clip on the visor, can no wires and you can hear clearly.

everyone is making the push in the westbound direction starting to load up but i can tell you the maze is flowing smoothly and the traffic funnels in nicely. on the maps and into oakland we have this accident blocking a lane and that accident turned into a car fire northbound along the nimitz at 16th street. you can see the red 11 miles per hour and spectators throwing in the northbound direction at 27 miles per hour as we make it in the northbound direction further to the south this stalled car southbound 880 at 23s are avenue is blocking a lane. so, the on-ramp to southbound 1 to 280 a car versus an ambulance but not on the freeway so there is only a little volume building. the golden gate bridge show as happy belated birthday to the golden gate bridge that turned 76 yesterday and foggy. blanketed on this day after 76. >> thanks. leyla gulen we have an update on the breaking news from 4:30 this morning. san francisco police remain at a busy intersection in the mission

district after a shooting left three people injured. abc7 news reporter is this with the latest on the conditions and the investigation. amy? >> the investigation is with respecting up and you can see the last officers headed back to the car. in a couple of michigans you will never know that three people were shot here overnight. let me show you the video right after the shooting. three person were shot just before 4:00 this morning at 16th and mission, two were shot in the leg. the third was shot if his for so, and we are told that he is if life threatening condition. as police gathered the evidence they got a call that police if the bay vow were pursuing possible shooters. we have video from that seen, they found a semi-automatic handgun on the street that was thrown out of car. the car crashed. police say they arrested the three men who were inside and say they found two guns inside

6,000 people have been evacuated including many from a popular catch ground packed with memorial day vacationers. the fire burned a u.s. forest service garage and two vehicles and it now is threatening homes. >> senator boxer is calling on the justice department to investigate whether officials deceived fell regulators about an equipment swap at the southern california nuclear power plant which was taken off line in january of 2012 after a small radiation leak led to the discovery of unusual ware in tubes that carry radioactive water through generators. the senator says 2004 internal letter shows that the utility tried to get around a costly review of the generators. southern cal edison is asking for government permission to restart one of the plant reactors. >> a horse is safe after almost drowning in a well in marin county and a wild rescue caught on camera. the 9-year-old morgan horse fell in a 25' deep well yesterday

afternoon in san rafael. he was walking over the well's top and the cover broke plunging him into 20 feet of water. i saw the top of the well mangled and i ran out and i saw him treading water with his head up, and sprinting back and called 9-1-1. >> several people worked together including a crane company, worked to lit him to safety after to hours of trading water. his owners have only had him a month and they now plan to build a fence around the well. >> new details on d.u.i. arrests during the holiday week. it has been a busy throw days for the california highway patrol reporting 15 traffic deaths over memorial day weekend which is four more than last year. six of the people killed were not wearing seatbelts. more than,100 drives state-wide were arrested for driving under the influence. that is only slightly down from

last year. in the bay area, there have been 165 d.u.i. arrests and two fatal crashes. >> the nation's highest court could issue rulings at any of several landmark cases it is consider right now the supreme court is facing several high profile cases, deciding whether california's ban on same sex marriage is constitutional, along with a challenge to the federal defense of marriage act. the justices are also weighing whether public schools can consider race when admitting students and a challenge to the 1965 voting rights act requiring federal clearance if changes in voting procedures in several states mostly in the south. supreme court decisions are usually released tuesday and wednesday at 7:00 in the morning. >> it is no more exciting for hock fans with the sharks fighting their way to game seven against the kings if los angeles. the home team has won every game in the series so far and the shacks beat the kings on sunday night to even it up at three

matt? >> friends and family set up a memorial for the three people killed on hillside boulevard. across the street you can actually see the retaining wall where the car they were riding in crashed into the cypress lawn cemetery. four friends were in a mustang at 7:30 yesterday morning and it rear ended a honda and hit the retaining wall splitting the mustang in two. three passengers were ejected and a witness saw the driver of the mustang later identified by the police at 25-year-old paul diaz talk to one of the passengers. >> he was "baby, baby, baby," trying to get the girl's attention to see if she was alive and the girl did not spend so he went under the broken thing and walk down and did not come back up. >> three people died at the scene, a 23-year-old won and a 21 and 22-year-old man all from daly city.

the major metro areas like the bay area. >> we go to jane king at the new york stock exchange where the dow is on fire this morning. >> no kidding. everything is on fire here today. good morning, we will start with the property values, the s&p index of home prices is up 11 percent in march chemical paired to a year ago. that is the biggest we annual jump since the spring of 2006 boom days. the largest price gain 22 percent in phoenix and 22 percent in san francisco and all 20 cities rose but the smallest was in new york. stocks are up today with the dow and nasdaq up 17235 points with japan, now, saying they plan to increase their economic stimulus so that is giving us a best here on wall street today. and the silicon valley index trading significantly higher and following suit.

shares of royal caribbean sinking this morning after the fire on the grandeur of the seas in the bahamas. if you are lucky enough to have nice health insurance with 500 deductible, companies are scale ing back on the deluxe health insurance plans penalizing will companies that have high end health care maps. one economist at johns hopkins said three or four plans could be affected until they figure other ways to pull in costs. if you have seen the big action films this summer it was probably not filmed in hollywood, with most done somewhere else, in southern california, and other states and countries that offer bitter subsidies.
