abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield is reporting from the scene. >> we drove it and it is not too bad. it takes getting used to. we did not have to deal with traffic but it will be busy and back up this morning during the commute. this graphic will give you an idea of what you are dealing with. they created an s-curve with two lanes going each way. this is the westbound approach to the bridge. they will do construction work for three months. be prepareed. >> morning commute will have additional delays. people should be aware of that. there are reduced lanes. we have four lanes on one bridge, no shoulders. >> eastbound 580 western drive the on-ramp is closed.

there be a detour from 5:30 to 9:30 in the morning replacing the bridge deck. westbound traffic will be diverted eastbound so it will take an adjustment and getting used to, nothing terribly difficult but they suggest you give yourself extra time. this will be going on for three months. >> drivers should not expect to have a swift commute with work replacing a water pipe that has been there since 1883 and along redhill avenue and sir francis drake boulevard and the hub. city officials warn drivers to plan for delays. >> police in oakland are investigating an overnight shooting that left three people injured in downtown oakland near 13th and webster before 1:00 o'clock this morning.

three people were found with gunshot wounds. they are expected to survive. no arrests have been made. >> oakland police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old who was released from juvenile haul at international boulevard yesterday morning, the latest in a string of violence that left ten injured this weekend. the teen was gunned down by someone wearing a ski mask. >> another black man killed in oakland. the young men do not think of their lives. it is sad. >> two bystanders were injured. a man was shot while driving in his car near 7th and union. on saturday, seven people were shot in four separate shootings. >> oakland police will announce strategies on how to deal with the growing problem of sideshows after a woman was wounded. cameras mounted outside a dollar store captured images on

saturday morning after someone opened fire on a crowd watching a side show as a bus was moving through. the 25-year-old woman was shot in the head and is on life support. two others were hurt but they are expected to be fine. >> police in vallejo are searching for a gunman and a motive in the murders of two fathers at a birthday party. the 52-year-old sanchez was celebrating his birthday two nights ago and a man walked up and opened fire into the garage where the party was happening. he was killed along with his friend, 41-year-old gonzalez in the picture. both men leave behind four children each, two other people were wounded. investigators say they do not believe the murders are gang-related. >> trial will begin for two machine accused in a gang rape and beating of a richmond girl in october of 2009 attack on a 16-year-old girl outside richmond high school after

homecoming dance. a rare duel jury trial is scheduled for 22-year-old and 20-year-old. the two juries will hear the witness testimony together but deliberate separately. eight people were charged together and some been sentenced and others have trials coming up. >> an oakland man will be sentenced for killing a google job applicant three years ago. he faces a possible sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. a jury found him guilty of fatally shooting a 45-year-old man in oakland during a series of robberies. he was in virginia, in bay area for an interview with google and was killed after having left a dental appointment at a friend's office. >> in southern california, the powerhouse fire remains a major threat. this is new video of the massive blaze. it is burning in the angeles national forest 50 miles north

of los angeles. winds up to 50 miles per hour have fueled the fire to 22,000 acres. it is only 20 percent contained. six homes have been destroyed. >> the cottage next to me, burned down. my house, burned to the ground. nothing is left. it is everything i own. everything is gone. >> 3,000 people in the lake hughes and lake elizabeth communities are under mandatory evacuation orders. full containment is not expected until next monday. firefighters in new mexico have two large wildfires there, both burning to the northeast of santa fe. one is burning ought of control in santa fe national forest. no sign of containment and new mexico is facing a severe drought across the state. firefighters are hopeful rain will arrive soon.

>> new problems with the multimillion dollar nightly light show on the bay bridge and the people behind it hope to come up with a solution. the display debuted in march when 25,000 lights were officially switched on. the "san francisco chronicle" reports since then hundreds of the light bull uns are suck in "on" or "off" and dancing effect is not happening. >> you can see it is not the regular display we would normally see. meteorologist mike nicco will tell us if there are obstructions. >> there are clouds. the big story this morning is how much cooler it is compared to 24 hours ago with concord nine degrees cooler and livermore is four and santa rosa is five degrees cooler and san jose is three degrees cooler than yesterday. the sea breeze is penetrating deeper in the bay area.

temperatures are mainly in the mid-to-upper 50's. it is cooler in los gatos at 51. novato is 50 degrees and 52 at half moon bay. there is the bay bridge. the next 12 hours will be 52 to 56 with increasing clouds through 7:00 and we will be sunny everywhere but the coast by noon and you will be around 60 to 74 inland and we will be around 63 to 76 during the afternoon hours. it will be cool but pleasant headed through the 7:00 hour at 54 at the coast and 68 inland. leyla gulen? >> the drive in milpitas shows a construction project blocking the transition road between westbound 237 to southbound 880. we are looking at slowing in the northbound direction at this

accused of murdering his girlfriend responds to new graphic pictures of the murder scene. oscar pistorius' family released a statement saying her shaken by the leaked images profit by british tv station showing bloody bullet riddled bathroom where he shot and killed the model girlfriend. oscar pistorius says he opened fire thinking it was an intruder and has a court hearing this week, the first since he was freed on bail in february. >> health officials are preparing for the arrival of a new deadly virus that already has killed half of the people diagnosed with it. it is called murrs, begins with chills and fever and muscle ache and trouble breathing, the world leading health officials are on alert. >> need as fast as possible to learn how to control the virus. we have to run faster than virus >> the virus could mutate to

spread between people similar to sars and anyone with the symptoms will be tested and isolated hoping to contain a possible outbreak. so far, 33 people have died from the virus. >> the embarcardero in san francisco is quiet after the booming concert at the america's cup pavilion drew a huge crowd. it was the second big concert there after neighbors expressed concerns of noise and traffic during events. ♪ i tried before ♪ to tell her >> as sting took the stage plenty of police patrolled the embarcardero and fans who did not have tickets listened from the sidewalk. some traveled far to get here. i talked with a fan who came from philadelphia to the event. >> big fan. liked the police before sting and i wanted to see the new

facility. >> this is the second event of the summer series at the 9,000 seat america's cup pavilion on the water confront with the crowd meeting more people antioch dairy than usual on sunday night but traffic and parking was not a problem. >> i packed down the street and figured it is just as close to walk. >> you walk and go to pier 39 and you get out of here and go back to broadway or howard. >> they were concerns about excessive noise and traffic congestion but modifications to the stage designed to contain the noise calmed the concerns. >> obviously at the end of an event everyone comes out at the same time but the plan worked well and in 30 minutes everyone was out of here. >> concerts will continue through october to coincide with the start of the america's cup competition. the concert let out and the crowd streamed out without any

major incidents. i checked with the san francisco police department of concerns they got about the noise and no officers said they had received any could complaints. i called the special number the concert promotor set up for the community to call in with concerns but they said they could not release that information yet. on the embarcardero for abc7 news. >> two members of the san francisco police department's mounted patrol unit are headed to greener pastures, list rally. police horses cannot stay on the job forever and this morning there is a retirement ceremony for two horses in front of a restaurant, hammer and riddle will go to a farm in davis. officers will on the life of magnum who passed away last month after joining the force in 2008. the ceremony will welcome to new horses to the mounted unit, quinn and strider.

>> we should salute them. >> absolutely. our meteorologist mike nicco is talking about wind. >> breezy in a few hours bringing the clouds in the forecast. when we have clouds in downit means cooler weather. even inland. i have taken the 90's out of the forecast. for now. the back half of the seven-day forecast is warm again. live doppler 7 hd shows how dry it is with the increase in clouds. it will be breezy on the bay water again, san francisco and into the delta communities, and winds at 15- to 25-knots from noon until 9:00 the fastest winds are around the golden gate bridge and toward angel child. from the camera tooking down -- looking down it is not too windy. you can see the exploritorium flag is not moving too much but the main layer is 2,000' deep.

that will bring cooler highs. cloudy the next few minutes so comfortable and in the 50's but a warm weekend is ahead with 90's back in the forecast. right now through 7:00 things are increasing in the north bay and long the bay shore but in the afternoon hours you can see it is quickly going to pull back by noon and be stubborn at the coast with the clouds bringing a few holes in the cloud cover with sunshine. 72 in milpitas to 76 if los gatos is how warm it will be in the south bay and up the peninsula, low 70's for everyone up to redwood city but from there to san mateo it translates to the cooler breeze and 64 in millbrae and mid-to-upper 50's along the coast and low-to-mid 60's downtown and south san francisco and sausalito and low-to-mid 70's through the north bay and the mid-to-upper 50's at the beaches and

mid-to-upper 60's if the east bay shoreline and fremont could get up to 70 and we will have mid-70's to low 80's in the east bay valley from san ramon at 76 to brentwood at 82. tonight the temperatures are comfortable again, we will drop down into the low-to-mid fists with mostly cloudy conditions. tomorrow, probably the cool of the day in forecast, wednesday we are the same as today and look at the 90's on thursday inland valley all the way law sunday and we will hit to low-to-mid 80's around the bay but, still, obligate -- only 60's at the coast. >> we do have construction in san jose wrapping up in a few minutes but we will take you over the altamont pass with construction causing major delays in the eastbound correction so i suppose the good news is it is not in the westbound direction where the traffic is headed in the morning. look at the red, we are starting off at 59 miles per hour and backups dip down to 26 miles per

hour and we will see one lane blocked until 6:00 this morning. if you are headed along the westbound direction there is slow-and-go over the pass. headed into san jose northbound 101 between great america parkway and highway 237 we have three lanes blocked until 5:00 m. and in san jose, that is the 280 away from 17 and a dark but clear drive. >> new details on the story we first brought you on abc7 news at 11 a freight train derailment is delaying amtrak passengers define san joaquin valley and the bay area. a dozen freight cars left the rails yesterday. no one was hurt. amtrak is busing passengers until the tracks can be fixed. it should be done today. until then expect big delays on services on the san joaquin line. >> bad news about san francisco's muni system. a report shows the light rail train posted on time performance

poultry slaughter house fire in northeast china. more than 300 were in the plants when the blaze broke out just after dawn and only 100 managed to escape. survivors say one of the doors was locked and the narrow hall ways and exits made rescue work difficult. >> a group of boy scouts took part in utah's gay pride parade over the weekend. boy scouts and volunteers wore the uniforms defying orders by a leader. the scouts were told wearing the uniforms was forbidden to promote any social or political position. this march comes a week after the boy scouts of america approved gay youth to participate in activists. >> the supreme court could hand down their decision on california's ban on same-sex marriage this morning but a decision could come any time this month. the high court heard arguments back in washington, dc, in march. we will bring you the ruling and

>> live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. >> meteorologist mike nicco is here with the bay area forecast. >> ladies, good morning, we have live doppler 7 hd showing no radar runs. a little drizzle is possible along the coast but more cloud cover than over the weekend as the sea breeze is coming back. look for increasing clouds this morning and you can see from the exploritorium camera if san francisco clouds are sitting above the bay area so no obstruction there. we will keep an eye on sfo to see if flight arrival delays are going to happen. we will feel cooling today 70 in the north bay valley to 82 in the north
