damaged power pole. a woman is in the hospital. a man is dead. whoever fired the shoots is loose. this is where a van crashed just before 11:30 into a power pole. the transformer blew and the fire department says there was a transformer fire at the scene. you can see the mess it left with tangled power lines. only minutes earlier someone shot into the minivan. two were inside. the man was shot. he died at the scene. a woman was taken to the scene with gunshot wounds and is in stable condition. pg&e right now says 20 people are without power and that number is down from 700 when this first happened. power, though, estimated to not be restored until 3:00 this afternoon. oakland police have not made arrests. they have not released a description of the suspect or suspects.

>> developing news in the east bay where authorities are looking for a missing woman with alzheimer's disease. the alameda sheriff deputy has issued a silver alert for a 77-year-old woman who has not been seen since 9:30 yesterday only at her home in san leandro. she could be driving a white 2003 camry license plate 5aua431. >> police are holding two suspects in the shooting deaths of two teens behind a kohl's department store. an 18-year-old and 17-year-old juvenile were arrested over the weekend accused of killing a 15-year-old and 16-year-old behind the department store if may. the city has seen 21 homicides surpassing the 46 from last year at this pace. >> the victim of a brutal gang rape at a homecoming in 2009 is expected to testify for the first time today.

opening statements were held yesterday for 20-year-old one of six defendants accused. the prosecution says peter initially tried to minimize involvement saying he only fondled the girl but the d.a. told the jury he and the others did not much more. >> she suffered serious trauma around the head and face, she had a concussion, cuts and scrapes from being beaten and dragged, she has cold and naked. >> opening statements will be held today for another defendant, 22-year-olded and two other defendants took plea deals and are serving long prison sentences. two others have yet to stand trial. >> police are searching for a group of people who attacked three cal students at grizzly when when a group of eight attacked them. one students a victim, was hit in the face with a rock or bolts. police have description of one suspect, a thin white man in his 20 with long monday hair.

>> new data from the f.b.i. shows violent crime is up in the bay area. the "san francisco chronicle" reports 11 of the 15 largest cities record a higher level of violent crime last year compared to 2011. oakland saw an increase in both violent and property crime and the city has the highest per capita crime rate in the state. other cities with upstick in crime include san francisco, richmond, berkeley and antioch. >> track star and double amputee oscar pistorius is in a courtroom if the first time in months as the murder case proceeds. he arrived at the courthouse where he has been free on bail on urge chaz he murdered his gulf. this morning the judge granted a chance to postpone. he claimed he shot and killed his girlfriend by mistake thing she was an intruder.

the prosecution says he killed her after an argument on valentine's day. >> developing news at 4:35, a wildfire burning out of control is 60 percent contained. firefighters hope cooler temperatures and light are winds will help fight the powerhouse fire north of los angeles. it started on thursday and burned 32,000 acres and destroyed at least six homes. 3,000 evacuated residents are allowed to return home. fire crews expect full containment in a week. >> a state-order audit of pg&e shows they failed to spend $50 million it collected to upgrade natural gas lines running through neighborhoods. the report covers the decade leading to the deadly san bruno explosion which killed eight people and destroyed 38 homes. according to the chronicle the audit shows pg&e has not done enough since the disaster to make up for the lack of safety upgrades. the audit was conducted by a

consulting company from kansas. >> a little boy learned first-hand how treacherous our bay can be. he was kayaking with his family and got in distress yesterday. the ferry packed with passengers changed course to pick him up. video was captured of the ferry with the tandem kayak on board. a witness said it was windy on the bay at the time. we were on board the ferry when the little boy and a man were picked up. >> they will take care your kayak, don't worry. >> there was no need to worry, the kayak is in good shape and more importantly, so were the kayakers. >> you can always buy a new kayak, they don't make cute kids like that. >> and they had life jacket on, precautions out on the bay.

covering walnut creek burlingame, campbell and all the bay area, this is abc7 news. >> a big day for alameda getting control of the air station with the base closed in 1997 as part of a plan to get rid unneeded military bases. originally the navy asked alameda to put up $100 million to put up for transferring the land to the city but then agreed to transfer it back at in cost. they hope this will create thousands of jobs and generate new tax revenues. the city manager will sign 44 deeds later today making the property transfer official. >> the marin county board of supervisors will decide today whether to endorse using some herbicides to control vegetation on mount tamalpais. the marin reports that the board will consider a march grand jury

report which cited the high risk of a devastating fire in the watershed. the granted jury advocated the limited use of herbicide and asked the supervisors to do the same. the water district oversees land on mount tamalpais and used the chemical that is in the weed killer roundup until 2005 when residents became concerned about the health impact if it got into the reservoir. >> folks behind the bay lights hope to get to the bottom technical problems keeping the light show from running properly a story we brought you yesterday in the morning news 789 our news reporter explains, not everyone is upset about the glitches. >> 25,000 sparkling l.e.d. lights on the span of the bay bridge are still mesmerizing onlookers but several hundred lights are stuck in the on or off position. >> doing nothing this it looks like it is part of the lighting for the traffic.

when it happens on a friday into saturday we have less traffic so less likely we will have the pollutants that create the ground-based ozone that create a "spare the air" day. right now it is tuesday morning and it is 4:47 and we will zoom in again, we have a small craft advisory on the bay waters today whether it is san francisco, or the delta commune, it starts at 1:00 o'clock through 9:00 with western winds at 15- to 25-knots with the fastest wind near the golden gate bridge. from the exploritorium camera you can see the cloud cover sitting over the bay bridge. we have sunshine with temperatures close to average and becoming cloudy tonight and thursday. that stops and it will help us get the warmth for the weekend. now a look at the cloud cover, it is making deeper penetration and more areas are covered today. it will take longer but by noon

our bay and inland areas will see sunshine and the coast will be cloudy. there will be a few areas of sunshine today and maybe more likely north facing than the peninsula coast. 50's there, and a few 80's still holding on in the east bay valley and we will start in the south bay where we have 72 am mit pete and everyone else in the mid to upper 70's and millbrae mid-to-upper 60's and let 70's for everyone else. along the coast, not as cool as yesterday, up to 60 degrees. low-to-mid 60's downtown and south san francisco and sauce left low-to-mid 70's from san rafael to the forth bay valley. in the upper 50's and breezy at your beach and fremont possibly to 70 and jumping to the east bay valley, mostly mid-to-upper 70's and antioch holds on at the 80-degree high. the boys are back in town at at&t pack, two games with the

>> abc7 news starts right now with breaking news. >> good morning, at 5:00, the breaking news is on 101, it could have been a potentially huge problem for the only commute but it has been removed for drivers coming into san francisco from marin county. we are talking about large boulders blocking 101 in sausalito overnight. >> abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield is on the scene. >> they had though shut down three of the four lanes on highway 101 for an hour and a half so rocks came couple bowling down at 2:15 when c.h.p. got the call. a car did run into one of boulders and a driver complained of chest pain. she was not taken to the hospital but is expected to be
