>> abc7 news starts right now with breaking news. >> good morning, at 5:00, the breaking news is on 101, it could have been a potentially huge problem for the only commute but it has been removed for drivers coming into san francisco from marin county. we are talking about large boulders blocking 101 in sausalito overnight. >> abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield is on the scene. >> they had though shut down three of the four lanes on highway 101 for an hour and a half so rocks came couple bowling down at 2:15 when c.h.p. got the call. a car did run into one of boulders and a driver complained of chest pain. she was not taken to the hospital but is expected to be

okay. she did say it was very scary. it was so dark and it happened so fast. this is on the southbound side of highway 101 just south of the exit there. when she hit the boulder it ruptured the oil pan so because of this spilled oil it took a little longer to get this cleared up but they did get it back open, cleaned up and all the lanes back open in time for the morning commute. reporting live in sausalito for abc7 news. >> thank you, amy hollyfield. >> now the traffic. it could have been a big problem but we averified that. leyla gulen? >> i am sure it was scary because when something falls on the road it is frightening. we glad to hear she is all right. now the drive from sausalito into san francisco we are at 64 miles per hour. over the golden gate bridge it is a quick four minute drive. that is if you are driving at 65

miles per hour. now as we head over to san jose we have a construction project and eastbound and westbound 237, transition to northbound 80 is going to be closed until 6:00 a.m. with detours in place but we are making a clear drive on the nimitz and the volume is headed along in the eastbound direction. right now you can see on the san mateo bridge it look like a hazy picture out there but traffic is pretty clear. what also is clear is the beautiful weekend ahead of us. >> absolutely. if you like the heat you will like this week. you will also like going to the coast and it will be cool. good morning, everyone, our radar and our satellite shows the cloud cover but no radar run. drizzle is a possible with some mist in the clouds, otherwise we are off to a dry start. the lowest visibility is santa rosa at three mills. these are marine layer clouds. we are looking from mount tamalpais and you can see the cloud cover over the bay, it

will be around 70 to 82 inland, so, comfortable there and no need for the air conditioning. we will have chilled sunshine along the coast with breezes at the time. >> palo alto police are expected today to release sketches of a man who attacked and groped a woman on a popular jogging trail. he had followed another woman in the same area. matt? >> we expect a sketch today of the man who police say attack add woman while jogging. police say it happened on sunday morning half a mile from where we are standing at the athleticst on the nature preserve trail in palo alto. a woman in her 30's said she first noticed the man following her for about three miles before attacking her from behind and next to the palo alto golf course and started to grope her. he was able to -- she was able

to fight him off and two bicyclists came by and that scared the person away. >> palo alto miss say this was one of two incidents at nature preserve on sunday. they believe the same man followed another woman 45 minutes earlier but stopped short of attacker -- attacking her. he has black buzzed hair and wearing clear-colored studded earrings in both ears with possible tattoos on both arms and politician are increasing patrols. they do not think this is related to any other sexual assaults here in palo alto. >> 5:04. a veteran off duty san francisco police officer who is african-american claims he was roughed up by three white officers during a traffic stop if the bayview district and has retained the services of oakland

civil rights attorney and scheduled a news conference to talk of the incident. the officer says he will address the alleged misstatements of his conduct that were made by fellow officers. >> san francisco supervisor is calling for action on a new city audit critical of san francisco housing authority. the "san francisco examiner" reports that the housing authority lost out on $7.5 million in federal subsidies since 2008 for failing to hire a general maintenance worker to perform routine labor. they is not hired the needed staff to review contracts and procure services and have not updated a waiting history for public housing since 2001. >> santa clara county is holding a special election today to replace disgraceed county supervisor who resigned in march and will ensentenced on friday on charges involving the misuse

of campaign and taxpayer funds. officials say a run off for the district two seat is likely because there are six names on the ballot. low voter turn out is expected so it is fought likely any one candidate will get 50 percent of vote. the polls are open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. tonight. in the wake of a report that reviewed delays for muni cost san francisco $50 million a year, leaders will focus on improving the service. there is a meeting to discuss options to help riders avoid delays. the plan includes assigning extra mechanics to repair breakdowns faster and update passengers about delays. next month muni will test double berthing allowing two trains to use the same platform simultaneously and it will consider running three car trains rather than the current to-car minimum trains. >> whether should be a problem for commuters, right? >> no, not at all. >> the only point is if you have someone coming to sfo with the

cloud deck. but the local travel is fine. we have cloud cover from mount tamalpais this morning. we have a high u.v. index today after 30 minutes. although some of us with darker skin could get burned. tree and grass poll in, not much changed but ozone is moderate but that will climb with the warming trend. the next 12 hours we have clouds and temperatures 40's at the coast and low-to-mid 50's for the rest, and stay in the 50's for the better part of the day and focusing on the bay and noontime, mid-to-upper 60's and a little bit of a spread develop as we head to 4:00, 57 at the coast, and 66 around the bay, and 76 inland, and we will drop back into the 60's but for the coast at 7:00, where we are in the mid-50's. look at this dramatic change: a couple of degrees warmer and we jump ten degrees thursday and possibly another 5- to

10-degrees on friday, with dangerous heat and 98 inland, and 86 around the bay, and 68 with free air conditioning at the coast. now the morning commute. leyla gulen? >> it looks clear across the bay area but we have construction projects. we it is this report of a new accident, along westbound south bay freeway at the off-ramp and it is blocking a lane. we are looking at volume building in both directions approaching the nimitz and as we take it into oakland, the drive there in both directions we have clearing stages with the construction between high street and fruitvale. we saw a little bit of slowing in the area and that now is gone and the rest of the drive is clear making it to the maze so it is fought a problem. i i will look at the san jose drive and marin county in a little bit. eric and kristen? >> a major airline is offering you more leg room the next time you fly but it will cost. bit business is next. >> the cost of college in

you again cooler than everyone else. we will start down in the south bay the mid-to-upper 70's in most neighborhoods, cupertino, shows, at 75 and 77 in morgan hill, and milpitas is cooler at 72 degrees. millbrae and san mateo in the mid-to-upper 60's, and temperatures from redwood city south about same as yesterday, low-to-mid 70's. 60 at half moon bay and 58 in daly city and colma. low-to-mid 60's downtown, south san francisco, and crossing the golden gate bridge to sausalito. north bay bridges with the extra sunshine upper 50's and we will be 10- to 15-degrees warmer as we head through the valleys with low-to-mid 70's. berkeley is cool at 65, and oakland and hayward at 66 and castro valley and fremont at 70. total sunshine this afternoon in the east bay valley, very pleasant here with temperatures running from 74 at san ramon to 80 in antioch. it will be a delightful evening

freeway traveling along westbound 237, at the off ramp a solo vehicle facing the wrong direction. the drive along 580 from tracy and into livermore, over the altamont pass, we are look at heavier conditions but eastbound you have the construction project between grant line and the alameda and san joaquin county line and a couple of lines are blocked until 6:00 a.m., and a wider shop if you are traveling loan in the westbound direction, 36 miles per hour jumps unto top speed if you make it. as we head over to highway 4, antioch to concord, 23 minutes and 101 from san rafael through marin county to san francisco, 21 minutes and 80 away from highway 4 to the maze, that is a short 13-minute drive and san jose commute to 80, looking clear out there but a few extra cars away from 17. >> this weekend, many bay area students will go to the prom and

longer to get sunshine. the clouds are not dropping organized areas of wet weather other than the spotty drizzle. from 2,600' above mount tamalpais, by noon we will have sunshine and in the afternoon we will be 62 to 72 the at bay and sunshine by 10:00 or 11:00. we will see sunshine developing this afternoon along the coast but the breeze keeps you in the mid-to-upper 50's. here is the traffic. >> we have mostly construction out there. as you travel along 680 northbound between south mission to north mission boulevard a couple of lanes are blocked and that is lasting until 6:00 a.m. to the south, we have construction on both sides of the nimitz, northbound and southbound 880 to the south bay freeway and that project is involving repaving and restriping.

headed to the drive time traffic the mass transit caltrain and bart and muni are all on time. now, we will see what is happening at the maze, 80 westbound, traffic is moving swiftly. eric and kristen? >> all lanes of southbound 101 in sausalito are back on after a rock slide this morning. it happened south of rodeo at 2:15 and several lanes were closed. they reopened before 4:00 a.m. one person's car was hit by a boulder. we will hear from that in a report at the top of the hour. developing news from oakland the search is on for the shooter who fired into a minivan leaving a man dead and a woman in the hospital. the van crashed into a power pole triggering a now we are outage, as well. katie marzullo has more on this story. >> handful of people are without electricity after a shooting

that led to a car crash. is the scene in oakland. you and see pg&e on scene and the crews are this working to fix the damage. a minivan crashed, knocked down the power pole before 11:30. the oakland fire department says this was a transformer fire, as well. minutes earlier, someone shot at the van, two people inside, a man was shot and he died at the scene and a woman was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds. she is in stable condition. oakland police have not made any arrests or released any description of shooter or shooters and this morning, peg is saying 20 people are still without power down from 700 customers but the power is not restored until 3:00 this afternoon. >> develop news in the east bay, where authorities are looking for a missing woman with alzheimer's disease, the alameda county sheriff has issued a

silver alert for 77-year-old woman. no one has seen her since 9:30 yesterday morning at her home in san leandro. she may be driving a white 2003 scamry 5aua431. >> police in the south bay are holding two suspects this morning in the shoot death of two teens behind a kohl's department store in san jose. the 19-year-old from san jose and a 17-year-old juvenile were arrested offer the weekend accuses of killing a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old behind the kohl's department store on may 26. the city has had 25 homicides and will pass the 46 homicides last year. a victim of a brutal gang rape at a homecoming in richmond in 2009 will testify. opening statements were held for the 20-year-old, one of six defendants accused. the prosecution says he

control is circuit 60 percent c. it has burned 32,000 acres since thursday and destroyed six homes. 3,000 residents are allowed to return homes. crews expect full containment in a week. >> a state-ordered audit of pg&e shows they failed to spend $50 million collected to upgrade the natural gas lines after the deadly explosion killed eight people and destroyed 38 homes in 2010. the audit shows that pg&e has not done enough to make up for the lack of safety upgrades. the audit was conducted by a consulting company from kansas. >> a little boy learns how frenchous the bay is getting in

>> covering novato, oakland, sunnyvale, and all the bay area, this is abc7 news. >> it is 5:43. new this morning, it is a big day for alameda as it finally gets control of the formal made naval air station. the base was closed in 1997 to get rid unneeded military bases. originally the navy asked alameda to put up $100 million to pay for transferring the land to the city but in 2011 the navy agreed to transfer it back to the city at no cost. alameda officials hope re-developing will create thousands of jobs and generate new tax revenues. city manager will sign 44 deeds

later today making the property transfer official. >> the marin county board of supervisors will decide today whether to endorse the limited use of herbicides to control vegetation on mount tamalpais. the marin reports that the board will consider a march grand jury report which cites the high risk of a devastating fire in the mount tamalpais watershed. the grand jury advocated limited use of herbicides and asked supervisors to do the same. the water district oversees land on mount tamalpais and has used the chemical found in the weed killer roundup until 2005 when residents bail concerned of the potential health impact. >> upscale women's yoga pans is headed back to store shelves after pulling three styles of black yoga pants from stores in march after customers found them to be too shear. the company blamed it on production problems and a style change. they now are using a new fabric
