a shooting involving one of their own when an officer responded to a call at the vallejo marina. abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield has the latest. >> this happened on a boat. you can see there is crime tape here from the investigation. in 20 years in the department the investigator cannot remember an officer involved shooting on a boat. he was living on the boat it appears. at 7:00 this was a call about a loud violent fight and the officer got here at 8:00 to check it out he found the suspect, a man if -- in his 40's on the boat and pointed a modified gun at the officer. the liver shot him and he says it was self-defense. the man died at the hospital. they have not released his name.

the officer is a veteran with the department and okay and is on leave while they investigate. >> thank you. also if vallejo an early morning fire broke out at a housing complex for low-income seniors at an apartment building around 1:00 o'clock this morning. firefighters evacuated 100 people living in the building. investigators say it started on the 5th floor after someone left a pot on the stove. four units were damaged. the red cross is helping people find a place to say. it just re-opened in january after a deadly four alarm fire left three people dead in 2008. >> dive teams have recovered a vehicle from the water where a man drove it into the water while being chased by police after sinking in the hours next
