to 78 in san jose and of course the coast you will remain the most consistent afternoon sunshine and temperatures near 60 degrees. breezy at times. did you say the weather is "juicy." i like that. all right, we have some construction out there, and at 5:00 we take you to marin county where we have a paving project northbound 101, and up to the sonoma county line that will last until 6:00 a.m. this morning, we have a drive time traffic at 580 loading up right now from the central vietnam, and almost half an hour to get you out of tracy to dublin/pleasanton and 101 from san francisco to sfo is 12 minutes but we have a construction project blocking two lanes in the nobody direction between sfo and 380 and northbound 85 define 101 and cupertino at 17 minutes. outside, here is a look at walnut creek, 680 moving swiftly out there. >> well, peninsula and south bay

residents there will be traffic related to president obama's bay area visit this evening. matt keller is at the san jose fairmont hotel. the president will mingle with silicon valley titans? >> it is quiet here this morning in front of the fairmont hotel but that willhae. there are no stopping signs on south market street in preparation for the president's arrival tonight. this will be the if us stop with no parking in palo alto ahead of his fundraiser tonight at the home of a cofounder of "flip board" and another fundraiser at the home of venture capitalist. president obama was here in april for another fundraiser and the city councilman says it costs the city $8,000 with invoices trying to get reimbursed. >> the white house, the secret service, another to the democratic national committee, and, then, also, understanding that perhaps we were not going to get response from washington,

we break the invoice up in half and sent one to each of the residents. >> president obama reportedly raised more than $3 million during the last trip to the bay area in april, tickets to the events range from $2,500 a person to $64,800 a couple depending how much access you want. the money is for the democratic senatorial campaign committee and the s club is planning on $300 gathering to protest the keystone xl pipeline. it is nut just about fundraising for president obama in silicon valley, but tomorrow he is expected to make a speech on affordable health care act. >> thank you, matt. air force one is expected to land in mountain view at 6:00 this evening, and from there the motorcade will travel to the palo alto home of a social magazine flip board for fundraising reception and a dinner at a home of sun

microsystems co-founder. tomorrow morning, the president will talk about health care at 8:45 a.m. event at the fairmont in downtown san jose. >> tomorrow, president obama will have a two day informal summit with china's new president in southern california. it will be held at a retreat and aides say president obama will appeal to the president of china to take strong action against cyber attacks originating in china. this or, china claims they have a mountain of evidence of cyber attacks against the united states. chinese cyber security officials say us cyber attacks have been as brave as the one that the united states chairmans that china has conducted. developing news if you are a verizon customer the federal government could monitor who you call each day. a british newspaper is reporting a secret federal court order is forcing the company to turn over the phone records of millions of americans.

>> we are getting some response from the obama administration which has had no comment since the story broke out and also this morning attorney general holder will testify before senate committee and it is expected he will have to answer questions about the secret court order. the order was uncovered by british newspaper "the guardian" calling for vie long do -- to hand over the phone records to the national security agency. the agency is tracking phone numbers, calling card numbers, and time and duration of calls. the order does nut allow monitoring of actual conversations. former republican candidate says this. >> in an ideal working and the government said the only purpose is to look for terrorism, well, terrorism is a multinational project, and you have to be aware there are americans engaged in terrorism. the problem is, given everything we have learned recently about current bureaucracy, why would you trust them? >> the senior administration

condition. a four story building under demolition item build on a 19ing thrift story. they have been clearing debris and using rescue dog and equipment to look for victims. federal and state investigators are also on the scene. >> the nation's drinking water system need a massive overhaul according to a new survey at the country's water infrastructure from the epa. the certify says we need to spend $384 billion in the next 17 years to maintain a safety water my for americans. most of that money is needed to replace aging pipes, some of which are up to 100 years old and the epa says the states that need to make the upgrades include california, texas, and new york, because of our larger populations. >> san jose's shark tank is getting a new name, sap center will be the new nape after h.p. moved to under their current

50's and by noon the clouds are fade, and the sunshine is half hour quicker and 60's around the bay and low 70's inland and notice the temperature spread develop at 4:00, we are near 60 at the coast and low 70's around the bay and low 80's inland and mild during the 7:00 hour, to cool, 54 at the coast, and 66 at the bay and 75 inland. next three days are some of the warmest in the forecast, at least friday and saturday as we flirt with the upper 90's and mid-to-upper 80's around the bay, but notice the dramatic drop in temperatures on sunday we will go from six degrees cooler at the coast to nearly 14 degrees cooler inland. it does not appear the mist is ruining the drive but it has been ruining my hair. i can tell you that. over at the bay bridge in the eastbound direction, you will find some construction going on and this is a long-term closure with three lanes blocked until 6:30 so this is a bottleneck at

treasure island and it moves well and we had early construction at 5:00 a.m., and that was, again, in the westbound direction a couple of lanes blocked. northbound 101 from 380 you will find two lanes shut down throughout and that project will last until 6:00 a.m. and at look at the mass transit, caltrain, muni, and bart, all running on time and outside we go to the macarthur maze and that drive is moving nice and clear out there as we make it to the bay bridge. >> 5:11. >> you might want to carry some extra cash on the next trip to the grocery store. we will explain in the bloomberg business report. >> also, a dying girl fights the system for a lung transplant, and the rule a judge is sending to give her a chance. >> why it will be harder to find junk food for your

>> covering cupertino, concord, wine country and all the bay area, this is abc7 news, welcome back on this thursday morning, 5:14, a judge made a ruling that could mean the difference between life-and-death for a 10-year old girl. a federal judge in philadelphia says that the ten-year-old sarah murnaghan can seek donor lungs from the adult transplant list. she had been ineligible because of rules that say children under 12 have to wait for pediatric

lungs. the judge says he granted the temporary equal because of the severity of her condition. >> you may find less junk food on the menu the next time you visit a national park. the parks like yosemite offer more healthy options this summer that include meals that contain fewer than 600 calories along with locally green items at many parks. the changes fall in line with first lady's movement for america to eat healthy food. national parks snack bars and restaurants serve 23.5 million visitors each year. >> netflix will rejoin the nasdaq 100 index when trading begins this morning, on the index in 2010 and moved to the nasdaq select group when the share prices fell. they have rebounded and will be listed again with the top 100 nonfinancial companies on the nasdaq exchange. netflix is become online after the streaming service crashed for two hours starting at 6:45

southern facing beaches and not so hot starting sunday. the heat wave is not here and we are already talking when it will be cooler. 79 in san jose and cupertino and mid-80's in the santa clara valley and 79 in los altos and 76 in menlo park and palo alto and down to 71 in milbrae and near 60 degree temperatures loan the coast and mid-60's in downtown and south san francisco and sausalito, though, 70 today, and headed up to san rafael, 78 and novato could reach 80 and napa at 81, the warm spots. near 60 at your beaches. along the east bay shore, richmond, oakland, hayward, around 72 and low-to-mid 70's dominating the neighborhoods. we will have 85 in concord for the cool spot and antioch and brentwood always the warmest, 90 and 91. good news tonight, it will cool significantly back into the mid-and-upper 50's, and clouds along the coast, a few of those spilling in the bay and becoming

partly cloudy. we call this a rush block, high pressure to the north and clockwise flow, so it is the slow that is bringing the warmth from the desert pushing into the south bay and east bay and it will overspread our neighborhoods and stop just short of the coast as we head through tomorrow and into saturday. we will look at the new numbers. friday and saturday, upper 90's inland, and mid-to-upper 80's around the bay and mid-to-upper 60's at the coast and the cooling hits the coast on saturday and spreads across the neighborhoods sunday and monday and we drop to below level averages on tuesday. have a great day. leyla gulen? >> the drive from tracy and dublin/pleasanton is busy and we have a couple of incident. there is red there and you can see the red is coming into livermore. we have two things going on, an accident involving a pickup truck and a car, and at livermore avenue we have a stalled motorcycle that is causing a hazard there.

decision will be made in private and will not be revealed until next month. demonstrators, though, were here yesterday to try and influence the mission which will decide whether city college will stay open or should be shut down. the commission found several problems with how city college runs their business including the finances. some of the protesters think something else is going on. >> we think the commission has its own political agenda. they want to privatize. i promise there is no way city college is going to close. it is a great institution. we have problems that we have corrected. >> it is the largest public school and 85,000 students will be hoping their school can survive this scrutiny. the school has submitted 300 pages to the commission explaining the changes it has made and school officials will be here today to make a final three as to why city college

should stay open. >> it is now 5:33 watch out for traffic on the peninsula and in the south bay tone as president obama makes a return two-day trip to the bay area. the focus tonight is fundraising, attending receptions in palo alto and portola valley and tomorrow a speech on health care at the san jose fairmont hotel. no parking scenes are already up on forest avenue in palo alto ahead of the fundraiser at the home of co-founders of flip board, with tickets starting at $2,500 and go to $15,000 for a couple with v.i.p. seating and the second event is at the home of silicon valley venture capitalists and the dinner costs $65,000 but it includes a photo and a discussion with the president. >> 300 activists will demonstrate at the first event, the palo alto fundraiser

opposing the keystone xl pipeline project bringing tar sands oil from canada to the united states gulf coast and some members of the group held protest signs back in april when the motorcade sped through the area. >> the n.s.a. is collecting the phone reports of tens of millions of united states citizens, maybe you, and have been doing it for months. the u.s. government has a top secret court order requiring environmental done to turn over phone records of 70's million customers according to a report by the "guardian." the order requires the reports go to the n.s.a. on a daily basis from early april until july 19. it does not call for them to monitor actual conversations. abc7 news reporter katie marzullo will have more next half hour. >> now an exclusive. we have learned the cause of the limousine fire that killed five

women on the san mateo bridge last month starting in the rear of the stretch limousine. we have learned that the air springs in the rear of the limo ruptured. there were nine people on board, which is one more than the permits allowed. >> it would be jumping like a horse. it would be bottoming out on the ground and the gas tank is right there so it bounced down too hard with all that weight and ended up hitting the gas tank which is right in this spot here and then you can see it hit the ground and it will create a spark. >> the criminal investigation continues and that will involve a san mateo county district attorney to determine if any criminal negligence was involved in the maintenance of the limousine. we contacted crash survivors and the families of the victim for reaction but no one wassing to talk saying their attorneys

advised them against it. >> federal and state investigators are on the scene in philadelphia this morning looking into the demolition project that went very wrong and killed at least six people. a 61-year-old woman was pulled out alive from the rubble last night after being buried benegligent a mountain of bricks for 12 hours. she was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. this morning, the search continues for other victims who could be trapped inside the thrift shop after the four-story building came tumbling down on top of it. >> it is tedious, they are taking their time. a dangerous environment. >> 13 people survived the accident with only minor injuries. the city says that the demolition company had proper permits and no existing safety violations. >> man is recovering after staggering into a store in antioch with stab wounds. the officers found him in a business on delta fair boulevard

after 9:00 last night. investigators say he was stab twice. police did not have any suspects or a motive for the attack but the man is expected to survive. >> police are still trying to decide whether they will file criminal charm against a father would crashed his car killing his wife and three-year-old son. witnesses say that gilbert gil was traveling close to 100 miles per hour on tuesday when he lost control of the car on the parkway in fremont. the car slammed into a tree and it was ripped in half. the child died at the scene. when emergency responders arrived, his wife was still buckled this the passenger seat but she died yesterday. gilbert gil is still in the hospital. >> this afternoon, a superior court judge will decide whether three charter schools in oakland can remain open. today is supposed to be the final day for the american indian public charter schools ranking among the top in the nation. the oakland school district revoked the chatter in march after fining regulators.
