good afternoon, everyone. i'm carolyn johnson. >> i'm cheryl jennings. we have had strange weather around the bay area for 24 hours, hundreds of lightning strikes recorded in the north bay overnight. this sent in by an abc 7 news viewer who took the picture about 2:00 this morning. >> take a look at this pun one. a lightning show at antioch last night. the lightning sparks 22 small fire was half in sonoma county this, is video of one of them

and cruise are still on high alert now. >> you can see we have calm nditions and clouds lingering and areas of sun. here is where most of the active weather is now across northern and central sierra. numerous strikes and thunderstorms there. back to what we have overnight, most before midnight to about 5:00 a.m. here is the radar loop in the north bay most numerous in the north bay. hundreds of strikes during that period of time. and notice there is in the south produced instability allowing storms to develop and circulation around that low provided moisture coming in

carrying more people than permitted. and this one slated for just eight passengers. it burst into flames inside a gated community. as you can see, limo is burned here. the fire had striking similarities for one that killed five women. >> it's highly unusual. i had the bridge fire not occurred i don't think you'd be interviewing mere today. because of that on the minds of the people in the limo i think that caused them to be alert about the smallest problem. >> coming up at 5:00 you'll hear from a 96-year-old woman in that limo. she'll tell us how she got out. >> police released this booking photo of gilbert gill arrest forward a crash that killed his wife and son in

fremont. investigators believe gill was speeding when he lost control of the car and hit the tree along pa sayo padre parkway. the impact tore the car in half. his 3-year-old son was ejected and died at the scene. his wife died in the hospital. gill was also ejected but survived. >> santa monica college reopened following a deadly shooting rampage that ended on campus, students returned to school to find their backpacks. police killed the gunman after the sooting. five people died and several were sounded -- wounded. one survivor described her ordeal. >> he seemed like someone out of the movie "terminator". just no emotion. very focused. pointing the gun at me and the next thing i knew, was that the glass on the passenger

researchers blame it on social pressure to drink. a baby girl is alive thanks to doctors using super glue made for surgery. the parents of the 3 and a half week girl rushed her to the hospital because she couldn't stop crying and vomiting. doctors discovered an aneurysm the size of an almond in the brain. bleeding in the brain is so rare they zrbt tools for the procedure so her surgeon used a catheter to access that aneurysm then surgical super glue. >> he tried to treat the baby without closing the aneurysm meaning conservative treatment support the baby and hope that the blood vessel will heal. most of the babies can survive.
