that smoke could be causing visibility issues, so we will get more clarification in a moment. but highway four is looking very slow at 10 miles per hour, and it is about half an hour drive to make the commute from antioch to pittsburg. in san jose, it look like 87 is clear and quiet and by the julian off ramp it is not a problem. >> an update to the breaking news from san francisco, a firefighter is hospitalized after an overnight fire in the bayview district and abc7 news reporter joins us from the scene. amy? >> this was so much fire, firefighters did not know what was on fire they had to use satellite imagery to figure out what was here. it started in a vacant home this morning on hudson avenue in the bayview district. firefighters say it spread to a carport and then spread to a home with seven people inside. three generations, a

conference here expected to last an hour and he will be discussing this massive criminal gang case. here are four of the males of the 39 facing charges, cruz, martinez, and oaks, charged with murdering a man last august at carls street while members of a gang, part of a criminal gang case that includes 77 indictments against 39 male and 9 female defendants including murder and drug sales and weapon charges, all 48 defendants took part in the criminal gang organization in santa clara county and conspired to sell methamphetamine much the district attorney will try to make a plea deal with the defendants so the gang charges stick for life. >> we are learning new details on the budget deal reached between governor brown and state

lawmakers, word of the deal came down late yesterday and the sacramento bee reports the management is mostly agreed to at $96.4 billion budget land and some democrats pushed for an extra $2 billion in spending but the senate and the assembly still have to approve the budget. the new budget overhaul the way public schools are funded, with some getting extra money. all districts will benefit eve getting an extra $537 a student an additional 200 million going k-12 next year. and the other details of the spending, the budget calls for $200 million to improve state mental health services and there is a partial restoring of dental benefits that cots $16.9 million next year and a new scholarship program will be created to help offset tuition for california's

we put the hoses to the test. here is michael finney. >> good morning, everyone. when it is time to water your yard, does your hose drive you crazy? it can be heavy. it is tangled. it is hard to move around. now, there are several new as seen on tv garden hoses that sound like they make watering your garden a snap. security -- "consumer reports" puts them to the test. >> the pocket hose. >> ordinary 50' hose are so heavy. this hose is incredibly light. >> as seen on tv, the expandable hoses are popping you will. "consumer reports" tested three, all 50' in length. first, they were weighed. they all came in at a pound, a lot lighter than a regular hose. then it was time to go to work, testers measured the length,

flow rate and water volume comparing the results to regular garden hoses. >> the length increased by three times as claimed and the flow was good. >> if you go to do something like fill a pool with the valve on the hoes could shrink. a lot. because of lower water pressure. using the hoses with springers also poses a challenge. >> to use it with a sprinkler you have to turn the water on first before you put the sprinkler in place. when you turn it off the hose will contract and pull the sprinkler through the garden the. >> traditional hoses all kink but the pocket hose couldn't kink if if you wanted to. >> we knotted all three hoses no matter what, the water kept flowing. >> after the water drained out all three went back to the original size as promised. so, all three lived up to their claims. but it was a pocket hose that came out on top.

after an overnight house fire in the bayview district and people have been dismissed. our reporter joins us with an update. >> the number of victims has gone up and they are new putting it at ten, ten people who have been displaced by the fire. firefighters say it was so huge they called it eye popping. when firefighters got here it took them some time to even figure out what was on fire, a vacant home where it started. it spread then to a carport and a home with eight people including a five-year-old child and a grandmother. they all got out. the grandmother has been the victim of fire before. when firefighters first got here they say this fire was so big they didn't even know what was on fire. >> there was so much flame we didn't know there was a carport, with three buildings on fire, and all on the sidewalk, and it took re-creating this using satellite images to find out

what was on the lot. >> it was eight or nine years of fire. and you have to go through so much with the fire and i am older now and i can't, you know, deal with this like i did the first fire. >> this all happened on hudson avenue if san francisco's bay view district at 2:30 this morning. a firefighter was hurt on a deck hurting his ankle and was taken to a hospital. the damage is estimated at $500,000. you can see the victims are now trying to regroup and sifting through what is left. the red cross is here to try and help them figure out what to do next. the arson investigators are also here trying to figure out what started this fire.

with the owner of another limousine company. >> we are looking at tens of thousands in damage done to a santa cruz county home after a party got out of control. these are photographs from the home after the homeowner says her daughter invited friends over to watch a movie on saturday night and one texted another that the parents were out of town and that message went viral on social media, and more than 300 people showed up. the house was robbed and ran ransacked. an 18-year-old of live oak was arrested as he was leaving with a rifle and shotgun and jewelry stolen from the house. no one has been arrested. >> happening today, san jose is looking to restore cuts to public safety when the city county votes on the budget. they appear ready to adopt the budget without layoffs for the second straight year wanting to allocate more cash to train and recruit police officers and $4
