>> live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. >> goodgood morning, we have a stubbing sexting case stretching from the north bay to the south bay you will see first here. >> developing news. we have exclusive details on the trap set for child sexual predators that led to an arrest. abc7 news reporter matt keller joins from san jose. matt? >> this is where the suspect was arrested in downtown san jose. across the street from the federal building and homeland security office. he brought some stubbing items with him, this is the suspect's photo, 23-year-old petaluma

resolution country and they first made contact with him eight months ago online. the agent from the santa clara sheriff sexual assault task force offered an 11-year-old with disabilities for sex and he took the bait, driving 100 miles from petaluma on wednesday for a meeting in downtown san jose and was arrested. he brought several items and without getting into details they were consistent with the listed sexual activity and physical abuse. >> when we get subjects like this off the street we prevented a child from being abused and from being hurt. one less victim. >> he admitted to wanting to have sex with young girl and inflict physical abuse. he faces two charges, attempted lewd acts of a child under the age of 14 and attempted rain. here is another disturbing detail. the sheriff spokesman told me this isn't an isolated case and they have done several stings like this leading to arrests the

last several months. >> in richmond neighbors wonder why a crippled boat is stuck on shore near a city park and playgrounds week after running aground and they are more angry about who owns it. abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield is near the wreck. >> there a chance this boat could be out of here in a couple of weeks but it is not looking good. a couple of reasons people are upset. look at this view, the boat being here is an eyesore. they are upset about who owns the boat. he is a convicted sex offender. and over this hill, here, at this marina, there is a children's playground so parents are uneasy the fact the owner is a convicted sex offender. he was convicted of a misdemeanor and police say they cannot tell us the crime because

what he did was minor enough he is not banned from public places. he also is not around here. police arrested him because he did not register. he is gone and he is not living on the boat and police are watching to make sure that remains the case. he is not allowed to live here. it has a hole in it and friends will try and move it. police will have the authority to tow it june 24 in a week, but that is not soon enough for some people. marina base is very beautiful setting on san francisco bay overlooking brooks island and you have a boat that has been abandoned here and it takes 4 days to get it out? that is too long. >> i asked the police about that and they said there are waterway laws and procedures they have to follow. this is property that someone owns and they have many steps they have to take, a timeline to follow. the message today is, the boat

is here, it will stay here if a little longer but it does have a deadline. if it doesn't get out of here by the end of this in, police are going to get it out of here. it will probably take a couple of weeks and they have to repair it before they can tow it safely but they will work as soon as possible and they know people do not like this out here. >> a big-rig driver found out this morning how difficult it is to navigate san francisco's steep hills. the rig wound up stuck at the crest of the hill at broadway with wheels on the tractor upfront and in the back were dangling in the area and there was not much to do but call for a tow. police directed morning commute traffic around it until it was removed at 7:30 this morning. >> police in san francisco are investigating a crash between a car and a fork lift. it injured three people around

4:00 a.m. workers say the driver was speeding. >> san francisco police are standing by to keep occupiers out of the former hayes valley farm site. protesters are promising to return tonight at 6:00 after police cleared out the encampment yesterday. police in riot gear moved in and arrested seven people. condos are built on the land located at that gun that and activists want to stop the development and officers are surrounding 9 perimeter to make sure the protesters do not come back. >> vice president biden is visiting the bay area for a fundraiser a week after the president was here for the same purpose. it is biden's first visit since january attending a private reception at a home in san francisco. supporters are paying between $500 and $10,000 to attend. protesters also promised to show up outside. this are environmental groups that oppose the keystone xl

source. abc7 news reporter cornell bernard joins us on the embarcadero with details. cornell? >> if you have seen the bay lights in action they are really pretty amazing. now comes word they will shine bright for two years because of a big donation. as far as the technical problems we have seen the last couple of months, a solution is in the works and it involved more than calling in an electrician. the vibration on the bridge caused the lights to malfunction staying in "on" position. now they are working to fix the lights and the creator is working to reprogram the art displays. it is privately funded and $1.5 million short of the goal. today, the word press founder stepped forward with the donation to keep the lights on for the two-year run. >> for me the bay lights, the fact it exists is a beacon of

>> covering cupertino, concord, wine country, and all the bay area, this is abc7 news. a series of storms up and down the east coast has killed four people and knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of home, from maryland toga, tornadoes and severe gusts ripped down power lines and uprooted trees with heavy rain on the saturated ground causing wide-spread flooding. at the height the storms had gusts up to 60 miles per hour. every week, just another big storm.

>> we always have to count our blessings because we don't have to deal with the extremes. >> they have had a rough spring. a week from today, it's the first day of summer. maybe they will have summer-like summer in another week or so because live doppler 7 hd showing us everything is nice and clear. we started out fog-free, a few high clouds but we have been warming quickly today and here is a look from our sutro camera zeroed in on golden gate park with temperatures already in the 70's, 72 in oakland, and 75 in mountain view, and temperatures along the coast, cool, in the 50's and 60's and the sea breeze is going to kick up for gusts later on today and we will keep it cool at beaches. the view from mount a.t.m., -- from mount tam, cool, and santa rosa up to 80, and that means we are well on our way to readings

above average. if you don't like the heat, as soon as tonight the low clouds and the fog comes back and this afternoon, gusty onshore winds and los gatos is at 78 degrees. oakland right now where we are looking at mostly sunny conditions, warmer today, fog moves across the bay overnight cooling down tomorrow, and that includes father's day and little change from saturday to sunday. i want to show you the wind, because the lack of wind and the direction the wind is coming from, that is why we are heating up so much, so very little wind but where we have it at 80 degrees and north wind by the delta, and you can still see the northwest winds at the coast so we are pretty cool there and that will not change. since 24 hours we have warmed up 11 degrees warmer than yesterday in the livermore valley where we could see a few temperatures top

out around 90 degrees. we will look at the fog after midnight so it should be nice and clear early on and the fog moves back locally across the bay and temperatures in the 50's, but, city, mild in the 60's to antioch and we will be looking at cooler days ahead. livermore is starting out today in the upper 80's, and look what happens tomorrow, big drop and we will recover on sunday and cool weather heed for next week, the last week of spring. state-wide temperatures, sacramento is 92, and 70's in the northern sierra and the south bay, beautiful day and getting warm, 85 in san jose, and the peninsula you will have the sea breeze kick in, the next couple of hours with temperatures in the mid-70's san francisco and san mateo and cooler throughout the afternoon and 83 in calistoga and northeast bay into the upper
