>> good morning on this saturday. let's start with a quick look at the weather with lisa argen. good morning to you. we have low clouds and fog that have moved into the east bay and parts of the south bay. also the santa cruz area and throughout the rest of morning, it will continue to evaporate and peel back except along the san mateo coast. you will stay mostly cloudy for most of day around ocean beach and half moon bay.

cooler weather has arrived for the negligence couple of days. this low pressure sits off the coast. partly sunny conditions around the coast. bay cooling to low to mid 70s. upper 70s to mid-80s. down 5-10 degrees. five more days of spring and summer begins on thursday. forecast will be coming up. in developing news out of castro valley where police have shot and killed a robbery suspect. it happened after 10:00 last night a boulevard burger. they were conducting a traffic stop in front of the restaurant when they were alerted an armed man was robbing the restaurant. sheriff's deputies entered the building and opened fire after the suspect appeared to turn the gun on them. >> as the suspect went to fire to responding deputies, at that time one of the

victim's employees tried to grab his arm of robber. a shot was fired and deputies returned fire hitting suspect and killing the suspect. one employee who was not shot suffered minor injuries. the restaurant was closed at the time of the burglary. only employees were inside the building. >> a weekend san francisco police will be staked out a vacant lot trying to keep out occupied protestors. this move comes after tensions ran high between police and protestors yesterday evening. police say a group of occupied protestors threw eggs at officers. they made two arrests as some trespassers tried to get into the south lot. >> they found a spot they figured they could scale the fence. we were prepared for that.

last night's knong striags is continued efforts to take over the vacant lot. they want to use it as a community garden. they say trees are being cleared to make room for a large housing complex. joe biden was less than five miles away in the occupation. we have video of his motorcade as it left about 6:30 last night. it was at the home of a local beverage distributor. he spoke about ten minutes to the gathering of people. they shelled out between $500 to $10,000 to be there. it benefits the democratic national committee. he will fly back to washington today. burglars or a crime spree in one east bay community. crooks knock on your front door and when there is no answer they break in. the technique is all too familiar in livermore where

in developing news out of colorado, firefighters have the destructive black forest fire 30% contained. yesterday the wind finally died down and rain fell allowing crews to make major gains. some mandatory evacuation notices have been lifted. firefighters gave us a glimpse of their strategy, to use water efficiently they surround a home and waited the flames to burn the fuel around the property and turn on the hoses, nearly 500 homes have been destroyed. two people have been killed. new this morning, it seems deadly attack by the taliban cannot defeat the spirit of u.s. troops determined to continue with a basketball tournament.

this invitation and it has led to speculation. they believe it could be a new feed to include web and news feeds in their facebook pages. google reader offered a similar service but the company is closing it down. new this week, george lucas will make a pitch to open a new art museum at crissy field. he will present it on monday. star wars creator has large collection of pop and classic art. he wants to display it as lucas art museum. it would include cultural and performance exhibits. he wants to pay the $300 million construction costs. he also would spend a total of $800 million in two endowments to run the museum long after he dies. san mateo county fair this weekend, not only the future farmers but future

builders and programmers all showing off their work. as jonathan bloom found out the fair takes on a whole new meaning. >> rise and shine, it's time for the san mateo county fair. don't forget to bring a sweater. try not to eat too much. kids come to show off their livestock, but in the next building over, it's a whole different animal. named after a star wars robot, it throws frisbees extremely well. >> there are motors and sensors and a camera that can protect. >> what these kids are doing isn't that different for the kids that are raising livestock and this is what the fair has been about. >> we have kids that grow

secondhand smoke. secondhand smoking rules enforced it wouldn't be allowed any longer downtown at public events or city owned parks. smoking would be banned inside all multifamily resident units, balconies, patios and near entrances. >> also north bay computers taking the ferry may soon find themselves paying for parking. independent journal reports that golden gate ferry officials are looking for charge for parking at larkspur ferry terminal. one method, passengers pay for parking by using a clipper card. if a fee is approved it could take effect as early as this fall. >> 8:20 and lisa argen joins us. what kind of day would say take a ferry across the bay? >> definitely nice out there with sunshine. we do have some sun in marin county but in napa,

vollmer peak, you can see the fog how tall it has grown. patchy clouds will be burning back to the shore line. nice weather on tap tomorrow for father's day. here is the way it looks throughout the rest of the morning. fog will continue to pull away from the coast and evaporate, 10:00 you can see it from the san mateo coast and sunny around santa cruz, but look what happens towards the afternoon. it doesn't totally clear and comes back quickly. we'll call it partly sunny for half moon bay and pacifica. stronger onshore push compliments of an area of low pressure that is beginning to drop south from the gulf of alaska. it will moderate and cooler air being transported across the bay. here is a look at the next seven days starting out in san jose, fathers day very similar, 76 and sunny and numbers go down throughout the middle of the week.

new this morning elizabeth is celebrating her birthday without her husband by her side. prince philip is recovering from abdominal surgery but other royals were there to celebrate. more than a thousand soldiers, horses and musicians took part in today's annual parade celebrating the queen's birthday. her actual birthday was back on april 21 when she turned 87 years young. >> google has announced to bring internet to the entire world. balloons with 22 pounds of electronics are sent up to 60,000 feet.

they beam to internet access to remote regions. google will look lots of computing power. google glass may be fashion be a to some people but its search engine for all users. what glass can do, all you have to do is touch the pad on the side of the device and ask it a question. in seconds the answer pops up on the lens. analysts say it's impressive to ability to understand context and conversational language combined with the hands free experience with glass. >> lawmakers approve a new budget deal. what legislators still need to do on this saturday before it can take effect. and naked man that went on rampage at a bart

it's clear in santa rosa at 54. here is the forecast for the rest of the day today. fog will hang around the shoreline and it will be cool there with numbers ranging from the upper 50s but 50s will be the morning temperatures. afternoon we climb through the 70s and mid-80s for east bay. tonight should be pleasant but the fog will move in back across the bay allowing for more cloud cover sunday morning. we'll talk about the rest of the weekend and coming workweek when we return. new this morning, president obama says there is no substitute for the love and support that fathers provide. in his weekly address, he is wishing americans a happy father's day. the role of father can be a difficult one no matter the circumstances of the parents. >> being a good parent whether you are gay or straight, a foster parent or grandparent isn't easy. it knanz your constant

million. this morning, california lawmakers are expected to return to the capitol to vote on trailer bills required to implement the spending plan they approved yesterday, a full day before their deadline. state budget raced through the assembly and senate. it was passed in both houses on a strictly party line vote. the budget will provide more money to k-12 schools with the focus on low income and english learning students. it will next go to governor brown for final approval. a bay area man faces serious charges after getting arrested on an online sex sting. deputies say 23-year-old man of petaluma made arrangements to have sex with and physically abuse a 11-year-old girl. undercover agents begin chatting with him eight months ago. they arrested him wednesday after agreeing to meet him in downtown san jose. >> he showed up just like he told us. he brought the items that

he said he was going to. he admitted he was going to intend to perform what he said in with us. >> a special task force have conducted online scams like this. >> san francisco police are looking for witnesses and bart is taking new action after a naked man terrorized passengers last month. the wildied man roaming a bart station while attacking riders. heather ishimaru has new information. >> security cameras are positioned all over bart stations but it's this cellphone video that will be the key evidence against 24-year-old man in the criminal case against him. that case may never get to trial if he is deported

>> california frog could make a comeback thanks to scientists. they released yellow egg frogs. they used to thrive in that area but in the last decades they died off because of invasive species and disease. newly released frogs will be tracked by san diego researchers thanks to tiny radio backpacks. >> 49er lineman got up close. alex boon rhino for the endangered mammal. he took an immediate interest to him in the fall and yesterday, kids got to meet both thanks to the alex boone education project. lisa argen joins us with the accu-weather forecast.

hill camera. we got the patchy clouds. nice day tomorrow for sunshine on father's day. here is a look at the plan for the rest of day with low clouds, you can see very quickly it clears most of the bay. early afternoon hours, it gets up on the coast from half moon bay and pacifica. then it's going to push back across the bay. it's full sunshine and back into the 50s at the coast. we'll be looking at numbers coming down from the upper 60s monterey to low 60s, but still feeling pretty warm from sacramento and chico with upper 80s to 90s. in the 30s for sierra nevada with a high of 74 with sunny conditions. we will be seasonal and above average yesterday. down today and fog down ten degrees at vallejo at about

san francisco will celebrate all things italian as it kicks off the north beach festival. this year's event will feature more than 125 arts and crafts food booths, live entertainment and street painted can. it runs along vallejo street in the north beach district from 10:00 to 6:00 both today and tomorrow. lisa argen has a look at the forecast. >> on the cloudy sky and afternoon sun, without the fog, we really skyrocket into the 70s. take a look at east bay hills camera, vollmer peak camera with the fog. it's pretty extensive. it drew to about 1400 feet. as it did, it moved across the bay into oakland and down the coast. for the time being we are looking at the clouds around san carlos. we are looking at sunshine and temperatures climbing to the low 70s. mountain view, 75 and you
