4:29 in for mike nicco, live doppler radar 7-hd radar. pretty dry conditions. we are going to be seeing cooler temperatures for today. here's a look from our mt. tam cam looking to the bay bridge. you can see a little bit of cloud cover there as it makes its way over towards the bay area. inland, we are going to be a spread of 74 to 80 degrees at the bay, 66 to 74 along the coast. still seeing patchy fog and cloud cover, and those temperatures going to remain in the upper 60s and the mid 50s. and we'll have more on your accu weather seven-day forecast. now let's see what's happening in traffic. all right. we do have some construction and we also have a motorcycle crash, as we take it over to the san mateo bridge, we are seeing this motorcycle crash, westbound 92. and it appears that one motorcyclist has been injured. it sounds like a car ran them off the road. we're looking at pretty clear conditions, other than that, as we make it over the san mateo bridge. also construction eastbound 580

at western drive, a couple lanes blocked due to paving work. we are moving along for the most part but a slight tap on the brake because of that project. let's go to the bay bridge toll plaza. it's gorgeous as you come away from oakland and into san francisco. kristen? >> leyla, thank you so much. developing news out of walnut creek. a man was attacked inside his home. the early-morning attack happened around midnight on oak and jones roads. that man was taken to the hospital. now police are trying to find out who attacked this man and find the person. we'll have more from abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield at the top of the hour. and kidnap alert. pacifica police are looking for a man who tried to abduct a 10-year-old girl in broad daylight. police say the man approached the girl at santa rosa avenue yesterday afternoon. he tried to grab her but she punched him and got away.

the man was last seen on santa rosa avenue. here's a sketch of what he looks like. described as a white man, 30 to 40 years old, 6 feet with a stocky build and brown hair. there are new questions this morning about which construction crew ruptured a gas line that led to a massive evacuation of san francisco south of market neighborhood. the crew hit a 6-inch gas line just after noon yesterday near fourth and folsom streets. thousands were evacuated from businesses and buildings, including 8,000 convention-goers. crews are working on the area for the station for the new central subway, but it's not clear if that was the crew that hit the gas line. pg&e moved in quickly to cap the leak. >> they started the excavation to get down to the pipe so they can basically use -- you can picture giant squeezers to squeeze off the valve at that point to stop the flow of gas to the pipe. >> the leak was capped just before 3:00. no injuries reported. only on abc 7 news, three good samaritans being called heroes this morning after they

rescued four people from a submerged car in the east bay. sky 7-hd was above the oakland estuary on do little drive as paramedics treated the vick. two men were coming back from a father's day lunch when they spotted the car in the water and two people inside pounding on the glass. one of the men grabbed a knife from a woman who had also stopped. >> hit the back window with the point, shattered the glass and water was flooding in. we started pulling kids out and parents out and they can couldn't swim so we had to help them ashore. andy was waiting in the shore to receive them so we pulled them out of the water and it was a good father's day. >> there were also two children in that car. all four were taken to the hospital to be checked out. investigators are looking into how the vehicle ended up in the water. developing news from livermore where dive teams will resume the search this morning for a man who jumped off a kayak. the 30-year-old man was kayaking would his sister yesterday when

he decided to swim to shore. authorities say he jumped in the water, had difficulty swimming, and went under. dive teams from the alameda county sheriff's department and the alameda county fire department searched in the water for more than three hours until it got dark. they plan to return this morning. happening now, at least 500 homes have been evacuated from a wildfire burning near yosemite. it broke out yesterday afternoon near mare posa county and quickly spread, fueled by steady winds and dry grass. 1,000 acres have already burned. evacuations are under way for the jerseydale and clarks valley areas. firefighters watching an area for any flare-ups following a brush fire that burned 45 acres. you're looking at video over the fire that broke out around 4:00 yesterday. the right lane of 80 was shut down as more than 100 firefighters worked on the flames. >> my friend said, oh, it's a barbecue and i said no it's not. i walked down the front yard and looked at the hill and said oh,

shoot, the hill is on fire. >> well, that fire burned close to homes but firefighters were able to get a handle on it before any structures were damaged. firefighters were also able to keep an eye -- keep a fire in castro valley from reaching homes. this was the scene from sky 7-hd as fire crews battled to keep the fire near gayle drive from moving up a hillside toward homes. dry brush spread the flames quickly. no word on what started that fire. 15 minutes after the grassfire broke out, a nearby house caught fire. neighbors used garden hoses to put out the flames in a home on brecken court. the roof and garage were damaged, but the home itself was saved. 4:35. opening statements set this morning in marin county in the trial of a accused bay area serial killer. 79-year-old joseph naso is charged with killing four women between 1977 and 1994. their bodies were found along rural roads in marin and contra costa counties. naso is representing himself.

the trial could lass until mid november. naso faces the death penalty if convicted of the murders. it's 5:36 now. excuse me, 4:36 now. the u.s. supreme court could decide on two major cases involving gay rights this morning. one is california's same-sex marriage ban, prop 8, that was struck down by a federal judge. if the supreme court upholds that decision, same-sex marriage could begin again in california. justices could also use the case to legalize same-sex marriage across the country. the other decision is a challenge to the federal defense of marriage act. that's a federal law that defines marriage as being between a man and a woman. the law prevents married gay couples from receiving a number of federal benefits. oakland police headquarters will be open to the public again at 8:00 this morning after a long shutdown to repair damage caused by a plumbing problem. it started with a leaky toilet on the third floor on june 4th. water dripped down on to the other two floors. the building was closed for clean-up. it reopened but had to be closed

again friday to complete repairs. there was a similar problem at the a's-mariners game yesterday. sewage pipes backed up at the visitors' clubhouses creating pools of stinky water. the a's and mariners had to share the locker room used by the raiders. crews cleaned up the locker room and planned to replace the carpet. pl coliseum officials say playing too much caused the problem. the a's did win the game, mark. >> that's nice to hear. let's move on. >> let's bring in some fresh air, shall we? good morning, everyone. yes, we are going to be seeing some cooler temperatures over the next couple of days before things start to ramp up. and you'll start to see those temperatures warming up as we get closer to the first day of summer, pretty exciting this week. a look at our radar satellite. radar returns, not seeing much moisture. but our satellite is picking up

that coastal fog as it starts to creep in over to the bay area. also seeing a little more cloud cover as the afternoon wears on. here's a look from the golden gate bridge. you can see where the haze is coming throughout there. for the next few days, you are going to be seeing temperatures slowly creeping up. 76 degrees inland, comes up to 80. 84 by thursday. bay area going to be seeing those temperatures really topping out in the lower 70s by thursday. and along the coast, still looking at chillier temperatures with only 60 degrees as your high for thursday. but sunnier conditions. now right now we are looking at pretty cool temperatures. 52 in saratoga, 52 in palo alto as you come up the peninsula. petaluma, 50 degrees. 62 in pittsburgh. 65 in tracy. and now as we take a look at our day planner for the next 12 hours, start offering a little bit on the cooler side, we are going to be seeing the coastal fog but more clouds coming in. also seeing breezy conditions. so you might want to pack the hairspray when you head out. but we are going to be seeing mostly sunny by 4:00 p.m., and

then coastal drizzle as we start moving in towards the evening hours. and so bay area, you can see those temperatures really sort of sticking in the 70-degree to 64-degree temperature range. and now as we take a look at our traffic, let's go out there right now and see what's happening on the roads in sausalito. we do have another motorcycle accident, and this is along 101. as we make our drive out there, you can see that we do have at least one lane blocked right at spencer avenue in the northbound direction. so you might see a little bit of activity there as you make your drive northbound. southbound, though, certainly not a problem. you see that golden gate picture looking nice and clear. also no construction today. but we do have construction in east bay, north and southbound 880 at mission boulevard, we will have lanes blocked northbound until 6:00 a.m., and the southbound direction, we're going to be saying those lanes blocked until 5:00. and that is all due to some pile driving work out there. let's go outside and let's see what's happening. this is going to be the maze. and you can see 80 westbound to 580, early risers heading into

covering fremont, palo alto, and all of the bay area, this is 7 news. federal agents are expected to head into the fire region near colorado springs this morning to help determine the cause of the most destructive wildfire in colorado history. crews hope to have the blaze fully contained by thursday. it's now 65% contained. steady rain helped firefighters yesterday. many evacuees are anxious to return, but officials say it's still not safe, because of possible flare-ups in the dry and densely wooded black forest region. the fire erupted a week ago. it burned 22 square miles, killed two people and destroyed nearly 500 homes. another abalone diver has

drowned in the waters after california, the fifth diver debt in less than two months. the "press democrat" reports lifeguards pulled the 60-year-old man out of the waters off salt point state park saturday. this is the third death of an abalone diver at the park. in april, a diver died at shell beach, and another off ft. bragg in mendocino county. a close call for a mother and her child after a tree came crashing down before noon yesterday on underhill road. the mom and daughter were taking a walk when the tree came smashing down right in front of them. thankfully, they were not hurt. but look how the tree blocked the entire road. public works crews came to cut up the tree and remove debris to get the road back open. a bizarre rescue in concord. contra costa county firefighters had to save a woman who called into a storm draino owe crawled into a storm drain and refused to come out. someone alerted authorities about the woman in the drain pipe on concord avenue. firefighters had to call for

special equipment to get the woman out. by the time it was over, 14 firefighters were on the scene. the woman is expected to be fine. there is no word on why she got into the drain in the first place. a new report says the city of san francisco is doing very little to increase safety among cyclists, despite recommendations made three years ago. the san francisco "chronicle" reports the number of injury collisions increased 71% between 2006 and 2012. a new civil grand jury report blames the police department and san francisco's political leaders for not following safety recommendations made in 2010 by another civil grand jury. recommendations included better safety education classes for cyclists and for drivers. san francisco police say they're pleased with the new security measures put in place for the 36th annual san francisco marathon. 7400 runners took off yesterday morning. runners were required to go through security checkpoints and

you see some dogs there, police in action. there were also restrictions on the size and types of items allowed along the marathon route. the start and finish lines were enclosed for more security. the first had an unofficial time of 2:20:14. and the top female finisher was an anna briton with 2:45:45. congratulations. the organization missy hosted its gala at the rotunda building in oakland. our own traffic reporter and leyla reporter helped the event. the gala featured a silent auction and dinner and dancing. >> wow. empowering speeches, leyla? >> definitely. and just to meet some of these women who went through so much

san francisco. we'll start to creep up. seeing more cloud cover later this afternoon. right now temperatures in san francisco, 53 degrees. we're at 57 in san jose. half moon bay, 54 degrees. we will see a little bit of morning drizzle along the coast, as well. now as we take a look at our highs for today, in the south bay, mostly sunny conditions, morgan hill, 80 degrees. 73 in santa clara. 74 in san jose. also seeing 74 degrees cupertino. along the peninsula, temperatures drop. 68 in palo alto. 64 in san mateo. 67 in pacifica. millbrae, downtown san francisco. 65 in south san francisco, and you can see that cloud cover starting to just creep its way inward. in the north bay, 73 in petaluma. breezy conditions, as well. warms up as we start heading into sonoma and napa. as we head into oakland, we have about 68 degrees, so we're just under the 70-degree mark in most

construction projects. that's going to be blocking a couple of lanes until at least 6:00 a.m. your westbound commute, though, still green. you are at top speeds. and right now when we go outside, a live look and see what's happening. this is your walnut creek commute, 680 to highway 24, all right seeing a load-up of traffic, but everything moving along at top speeds. kristen? >> leyla, thanks a lot. a british news report claims british communication surveillance agency, the equivalent of our nsa, hacked into the e-mails and phones of foreign diplomats at international conferences to get an edge in negotiations. the "guardian" story is based on leaked documents supplied by edward snowden, now hiding in china after blowing the cover on u.s. internet and phone surveillance. the report says the british agency stole diplomats' passwords and read some of their e-mails at a g-20 conference in london in 2009. it's the latest shocker over the scope of western intelligence-gathering. the story was published just hours before britain is set

open the g-8 summit in northern ireland this morning. president obama is in ireland for that meeting of world leaders. this is new video of mr. obama arriving in belfast this morning. about an hour ago, he made a speech on the sustained peace in the region between catholics and protestants. he's headed to a resort with other leaders. the president is pushing for consensus with syria. it will include a meeting with russian president vladimir putin. 4:51. the end of the school year means more than a summer break for thousands of east bay youngsters. coming up, the major effort today to ensure they get at least one healthy meal a day. and the first solar plane mission of its kind almost cans early. the problem that nearly grounded this historic flight.
