>> -- common. >> this is the first day of summer. lots of people starting their vacations so police are reminding people how to protect their homes. police identified someone they believe is one of those burglars. police are looking for melvin beller believing he's responsible for a rash of home burglaries. mo always the same. check this security camera video. a woman with an infant knocks on the door. no one answers. her accomplices enter and begin trying to pry open the door. >> suspects what are we call tunists so we want to limit the opportunity these suspects have to break into residents home autos because of the home burglaries it's important to save guard your house when going on vacation. some tips here, turning ringer

on the phone so people outside can hear your phone go unanswered. put your lights and radio or tv on timers so they can go on and off. be sure you have good locks on windows and good looks on your door burglars will know no one has been in the house if your fan cans are empty. ask a friend to park their car in your driveway once in a while and a important thing to do, if you don't go on vacation. >> photos should be taken of your valuables and jewelry. and such. >> of course, tell your neighbors you're going on vacation. keep lawns maybe maintained and don't put your key under the door mat.

the san francisco and san jess yeah areas also ranked high when it comes to the number of employers hiring. >> tonight new details about a terrible bay area tragedy. a dog bite killed a 6-year-old union city boy. the family of the little boy asked to speak with abc 7 news reporter vic lee to warn about how unpredictable family pets could be. a family dog a pit bull mix bit nefi. the coroner confirmed nefi died from dog bite wounds to the head. his uncle a police officer tells us the dog has been euthanized. >> breaking news from placer county. a grass fire has burned several structures. the video showing the scene.

dry brush catching fire and flames spread to homes nearby. crews say the fire burned 50 acres so far. firefighters have four burning structures under control. they're working on putting the fire out right now. >> still another massive wildfire threatening to burn a small town you chewed up 47 acres since the weekend. flames bearing down tonight on the town of south fork. south fork residents were evacuatesed today hot, dry and windy weather made california just a tinder box. it turned up terrain and the

fire smoldered away you can see firefighters putting out hot spots. two transients under jail accused of setting a brush fire in hills of santa cruz. flames broke out about 3:00 in the afternoon. police officers saw him running from the sqeen a lighter. authorities say both people carried evidence connecting them to that fire. >> napa city officials say water there is safe to drink though some is coming ot discolored. customers in north napa and brown valley areas are likely to notice the problem. it should subside if you run water four minutes. cost of the future pg&e bills could change based on penalties imposed for the pipe

line explosion. the utility wants to apply money to upgrade gas systems for the amount. the city wants to see a fine of $3.8 kbrinl. pg&e says it would need to charge more to cover that big of a penalty. >> the fight between bart management and the union is intensifying saying the agent has been charged with filing false reports. this shows saying it's drumming up public support but the union claims there is no record and says bart management is running and hiding from the fact that bart has a serious health and safety problem on their hands. contracts with bart five labor unions expire june 30th.

a doctor being praised for stopping an out of control bus. he was on the bus whit hit the car making an illegal u-turn. the bus did not stop after that incredible impablgt. is that when the doctor ran to check on the driver. >> hands on the wheel. just sitting there in a days, almost there, was nothing physically wrong with him. he could have pressed the pedal like i ended up pressing the pedal. >> this bus stopped and the driver was treated for a back injury and nobody else, mazingly was hurt. >> that is great gt doctor was there. >> more trouble for paula deen. her apology as her career is thrown into turmoil because of something she said.

retailer -- clothing retailer from the gap has explaining to do after someone mailed employee tax and social security payments to a customer. he ordered a tie from the online store part of gap and a box of the company's human resources office arrived containing pay stubs, doctor notes and resignation letters. a gap spokesperson called it a horrible mistake. they're trying to figure out what went wrong. >> you hear many frustrating airline story there's is a good one tonight. a man proposes marriage and the airline was in on the whole thing. >> lovely young couple just an average trip. or sit?

sunday. and rain likely on monday over a wider area. high pressure continuing to build in. then this active system riding storm track start to move into our direction and starting at 11:00 sunday morning probably there will be light rain around clover dale and points north but later in the day we'll see rain working south ward just a bit. overnight is when the rain was more wide spread. we'll probably have wet spots later in the day. on we go to take a look at rainfall in june. not a terribly unusual occurrence. the last occurrence in san francisco last june, june 4th

and two years ago, june, 2011 was the second wettest june on record so some rain in june certainly not tomorrow, saturday, high temperatures under sunny skies. upper 70s and around 80. highs into low to mid-60s. and on east bay upper 70s in oakland and newark. inland east bay upper 80s to 90s tomorrow, here is the accu-weather forecast. cool down sharply sunday. chance of rain likely monday, showers may linger but will warm up mid week to late week next week. back on the summer track. you're looking at me. >> yes. we are.
