this is just the beginning. the umbrellas are out in the east bay as the first wave of wet weather arrives and a second more powerful system is coming. i'm ama daetz. let's take a live look at mt. tamalpais in marin county, through all the raindrops on the lens there are spotty showers there tonight. and the fog is approaching. take a look at our golden gate camera. the sprinkles are just a sampling of the rain that's about to come.

leigh glaser is tracking the storm. >> leigh: let's take a look at live doppler 7hd. you can see a lot of the activity has moved on out of the area, headed towards sierra. but early 'er in drl earlier ine day much of the rain that fell was north of the golden gate bridge. we're starting to see some move into the sacramento valley area and even some sunshine now being reported in the north bay, but right there, as you see, 580 there never livermore, the higher elevations is where we're seeing a little spotty rain, and going down towards morgan hill, 101 south, toward gilroy, that's where we're seeing some pockets of rain right here as well. mainly the higher elevations. i want to show you our satellite radar composite. this is at 10:00 this morning. young see the moisture feeding in right into the north bay. the golden gate bridge right here. and then as it went to 2:00, everything just started to slide on towards the east, and it

burglaries in the upper diamond and oak moore neighborhoods in oakland. john alston is there live tonight with the story. john? reporter: federal of all, this is on the very image of mayor jean quan's neighborhood there are neighborhood watch signs all over the place. on friday, woman and her grandson survived a terrifying home invasion in this neighbor in oakland. sunday morning, oakland police are answering a more frequent call. a neighbor reported a home break-in. the front door had been forced wide open when officers arrived 0 begin their investigation, as up settling as this is, it is minor compared to what happened nearby on friday night at 11:00. the victim, sound asleep, her grandson in another room. >> i heard a loud, cracking sound, and sat straight up in bed, and saw lights flashing,

flashlights. >> the woman, who doesn't want to be identified, said two men barged through her front door using a crowbar. >> they shouted at me to get into the bedroom and get in bed and pull the covers over my head, and not to say or do anything. >> police are checking surveillance video at a nearby convenience store and gas station. they told her that 20 minutes later the attackers used her credit cards there. neighbors say they've been getting more reports of doors nicked and car break-ins over the past few months, but the neighborhood watch says problems started two years ago with police layoffs. >> the police are nonexist extent and it's not their fault. they're understaffed and underfund skid undersupported. >> some neighbors will pay for private security. others are taking different precautions. >> put a security screen door and i have a safe and a shot gun in my bed.

developing news as former south african president nelson mandela's condition deterioratesment it has worsened in the last 24 hours and his condition is listed at critical. the 94-year-old has been hospitalized for two weeks because of a recurring lung infection. it dates back to his 27 year inprimment in south africa. >> ed tallan media reports the body of james gandolf phinney is on the way back to the u.s. a spokesman thanked bill and hillary clinton for and expect died -- expediting the return of his remains to the u.s.

all the fog, wet pavement, heavy mist and drizzle. san francisco, 53. we have 70 in san jose. they're seeing a little sunshine. half moon bay, 57 degrees, and another shot from the roof cam. we have 73 in fairfield, and livermore right now, seeing a bit of sunshine, at 70 degrees. mt. tam cam, the higher elevations, winds gusting at 25 miles-per-hour, and we also are seeing that mist and drizzle so we'll go with showers, a few showers, mainly north tonight. look for morning showers, mainly in the north bay tomorrow morning. then we gate break, -- we get a break and then more rain moves in monday night and tuesday. we'll look at the timing in a moment. here's the first wave that moved through earlier today. a little break you'll get into tonight. a few showers tomorrow, but it's going to be advice system right there that is definitely going to bring us more rain as we head

into monday night, and tuesday. so, we'll go with just a few scattered showers, mainly north tonight and tomorrow. we get into the break and then the secondary wave with poll -- will move in, a little stronger and will bring much of the bay area rain showers off and on. at 5:00 this afternoon, right on into the 7:00 time period, we're pretty much dry. maybe some higher elevations in the south bay could possibly see some light showers. but really tomorrow morning, 5:00 a.m. commute, you're going to definitely see rain breaking out into the north bay, at 7:00. then we're pretty much dry. this is your 5:00 monday evening commute. 10:00. that is when all the showers start to move and, and look 59:00 a.m. tuesday -- 5:00 a.m. tuesday morning, rain into the day and evening hours and then it's out of here. here's a look at the potential for rainfall. you can see for yourself. one to two inches in the north
