morning. abc7 news reporter cornell bernard is at san francisco city hall where it began nine years ago. >> the countdown is on. in a few short hours we will know the fate of prop 8 at city hall. a lot of people will gather and wait to see what happens. city hall is the epicenter for the battle over marriage equality. it began here nine years ago. emotions are running high. lots of couples hopeful that the ban on gay marriage will be struck down. a major player is former mayor and current lt. governor issued marriage licenses to same-sex couples many years ago. he is hopeful for victory. >> it is an exciting moment in time for those that matter the most: the people that have not been afforded the ability to say

face and admitted for surgery in critical condition. a paw relative officer was struck. officers surrounded the home but it is not clear if the shooter is in the house. police do not believe that is related to a shooting yesterday morning when a gunman opened fire on two officers who were returning to their station after an undercover operation. both suffers minor injuries. >> happening today in oakland, a police officer is planning to file a lawsuit against a district over a deadly shooting. sergeant says in january of 2011 his partner shot a 20-year old man armed with a screwdriver and reloaded and show the man again. the officer says the district lied about what happened and asked him to lie. he says when he refused he was threatened and has endured retaliation. the district police force is the focus of a grand jury investigation. >> in south bay officials are adding four more park rangers to

patrol creek areas to curb homeless encampments. a water district board approved giving the city of shows $175,000 to pay for two park rangers following the new city budget that provides funding if two additional park rangers, officials hope the added presence discouples homeless people from returning to the sites after they have been cheer ed. a family is suing the maker of monster energy drinks claiming their son died after drinking two cans a day for three years suffering a fatal cardiac arrest in july of 2012. the lawsuit filed accused monster beverage of negligence saying they should warn customers the drinks are dangerous to young people especially those with heart conditions. there has been in response to the lawsuit from monster. >> embattled chatter school in oakland lost a bid to stay open. the alameda county office of

the valleys temperatures are 20 degrees warmer and 72 today in sausalito. along the east bay shore we will have mid-to-upper 70's and could make it to 80 in union city and fremont and hercules and richmond with the warmest weather in the east bay valley, mid-80's for you from 83 at san ramon and 86 in antioch and brentwood. a day game, reds and a's, a quick two game series, so watch out no the u.v. rays. they are raising money for juvenile diabetes today at the game. the lows tonight, a little cooler in the middle 50's to low 50's and most of the cloud cover is along the coast and a little bit around the bay shore with patchy fog. the temperatures will jump on thursday mid-90's and around the low 100's on monday and upper 90's by tuesday. bay will be around 80 tomorrow
