i will show you the san mateo bridge with more traffic but it is moving. there are quite a few extra cars from hayward to foster city. >> day three of the bart strike. the negotiations are in a "pause" after a marathon session that lasted until almost 3:00 a.m. >> the workers do not hear what going on with the negotiations so we rushed over here to tell them what happened overnight and they say they think it is a good sign. we saw a sign that it was going to be a long night at 9:00 p.m. when food was brought in for the negotiators. both sides came to the table when the governor sent two high-level mediators.

expanded bus service into san francisco during the bart strike and abc7 news reporter joins us from oakland. matt, how are the lines? >> getting longer. frustration at 20th and broadway. we are waiting for the bus to arrive at 6:03. check out the four people at the front of the line could not get on the first transbay bus because it was too full and now they are waiting for the next bus. the first bus was late and you can see how full it was when it arrived and the workers tried to get riders to squeeze in tight but the doors closed leaving some behind to wait for the next bus. >> i took 6:03 yesterday and i was 15 minutes late so i took the 5:33 and i missed it by one. >> it will be offer by monday i am sure. >> we saw some extra buses come here before 7:00 yesterday but

we not sure what to expect today. what we do know is the latest bus is late. it was scheduled to aidentify -- arrive at 6:03. we can see the next bus coming but we don't know how full it is. we do not know if everyone waiting in line will be able to get in this bus or if they have to wait for another half hour for the next bus. >> bart is shifting buses for the free shuttle service to accommodate higher demand with 20 buses to pick up passengers at the walnut creek bart station seven more than yesterday and monday. yesterday they ran out of seats for walnut creek passengers. the first-come-first-serve shuttle is free at one five designated bart stations from san francisco's transby --

transbay terminal. and our general manager said there were more early birds trying for a seat in walnut creek and there will be 20 shuls until 8:00 a.m. at the walnut creek with ten at fremont and dublin/pleasanton bart and seven at el cerrito. 32 shuttle buses will be serving the stations and will be free. you can park at the bart stations for free. >> many families who normally come to san francisco on the fourth of july are making other plans if the bart strike continues tomorrow. last year 182,000 riders used bart to get around the bay area. many rode the train to avoid parking problems around pier 39. 200,000 people are expected if

the two right lanes are stopped and i am a mile from the split to head to san francisco to go to the toll plaza. the three left lanes -- rather, two left lanes that did not go into san francisco have also slowed but they still moving. the highway 24 commute this morning is a rough one and we have good packup and stopped traffic. i am still a mile from the off-ramp that goes to the toll plaza. >> thank you, dick. when he said "good backup," he means "bad" backup. leyla gulen? >> we have a couple of accidents. we had a rot of a stalled car on the bay bridge and it could have been cleared. it was blocking a lane westbound 80 at treasure island but as you approach treasure island from the maze out of berkeley it is bumper-to-bumper traffic so the

pictures do not lie. in fremont we have an accident involving backups from michigan boulevard so heavy conditions there. to the peninsula northbound 101 at broadway the crash is cleared but left us with this traffic at 14 miles per hour approaching the slow down it starts to dissipate. our drive time traffic at 580 from tracy to dublin is 40 minutes and highway 4, walnut creek to the maze at 56 minutes and 17 minutes along 80 headed away from highway four to the maze. the golden gate bridge shows traffic is moving smoothly but filled with fog. from sausalito it is hard to see. use your low beams, not your high beams. mike nicco? >> thank you, leyla gulen. live doppler 7 hd shows it is dry this morning. the excessive heat warning i

mentioned yesterday will be extended through thursday and the national weather service extended the so the highs could reach the low 100's for the next 24 to 36 hours. the next 12 hours around the bay, we start off with cloud cover in san francisco down the peninsula to the south bay and not so much in the east bay. mostly sunny by noon and 74 and 84 by 4:00 and 76 for the evening. inland neighborhoods especially the east bay, it will be hottest, temperatures near 100 at 4:00 after being 90 at noon and we are cooler this morning, in the 60's rather than the 70's and at the coast the day planner the next 12 hours is clouds and mid-50's and clouds and mid-60's by noon and hanging in the mid-60's with more sunshine by 4:00 and the clouds will gather at 7:00 with just a light beat and low 60's.

crowded. if you look at the second line forming we showed you 30 minutes ago the first ferry that at 6:00 a.m. the line extended beyond the dock into the parking lot and new there are two lines forming one away from san francisco and one to san francisco. the commuters are enjoying the ride but people would always ride the ferry, not necessarily bart commuters have had to adjust their schedule to be able to get a seat on their regular ride. >> it is earlier each day. yesterday i was here at 5:30, today at 5:15, i want to get a seat and a place to park. it is crazy. if you do not get on early you do not get on at all. >> a couple of different amenities at alameda main street ferry station. one is free bicycle valet.

this is also free shuttles taking you from different location and auxiliary parking and extra packing. the route to san francisco ferry is direct, this is no stop in oakland. the route to south san francisco is staying the same. >> the bart strike continues and a's fans are encouraged to come against the cubs beating the cubs last night 8-7 to move back into first place in front of 17,000 fans. a bigger crowd is expected tonight at the game which includes a fireworks show after the game. officials estimate between 15 percent to 18 percent of the fans take bart and that opening will not be there tonight. it is likely 9 team is opening all parking lots at the

coliseum. >> bart as an option is not available this morning and that is having an effect on the roads. leyla gulen? >> talk about crowds, the bay bridge is seeing a big crowd and it is 20 minutes to get from the maze over to the toll plaza and when you head in the westbound direction if san francisco you are still going to be seeing bumper-to-bumper traffic so it will be 30 minutes from point a to point b. the san mateo bridge is looking better and we do not see so many cars but we seeing more than the usual amount from hayward to foster city and that is now 15 minutes. on the golden gate bridge, it is clear in terms of traffic but not weather-wise because we have lots of fog. traffic is moving smooth through the tolls without a hitch. we will watch all the bridges

but for now we toss it over to mike nicco and the weather. mike? >> thank you, leyla gulen. good news with the low clouds, we do not have flight arrival delays so if you can get there everyone is coming in on time and our visibility at half moon bay is 2.5 miles. yesterday we were down to quarter-mile visibility at times if mount tamalpais it is 78 degrees on hamilton and dab let is -- diabolo is 83. the sun is coming up, heating the ground, overturning the atmosphere is we will be hot again especially in the east bay today and tomorrow. summer spread tomorrow, it will be coolest at the coast at 60 but we could be 100 inland a 40-degree spread. we will be back to normal with all of us in the east bay by the week. the cloud cover shows by 10:00 it stars to retreat quickly to

the coast and we will see pockets of sunshine develop in the afternoon hours. we will reach the 90's in the south bay and the further south you are the less influence of the wind and 98 if loss get and 99 in gilroy and a lot of mid-to-upper 80's and even millbrae but the coast is mid-to-upper 60's and mid-70's in south san francisco with more sunshine and same in sausalito at 78. san rafael is 88. petaluma is the cool spot at 86 and everyone else is in the low-to-mid 90's but beaches are 30 degrees cooler in the mid-to-upper 80's. a lot of low-to-mid 80's but where the sea breeze will have an influence around oakland and berkeley and richmond and mid-to-upper 70's so delightful there. no such luck in the east bay valley upper 90's to low 100's.

better. a passenger on the first bus left at 5:40 and arrived at the terminal she texted me and that was at 6:10, taking half an hour. people on the last bus had an easier time getting on. it wasn't very full and the people waiting if line were able to get on. a man i spoke with said it was the first attempt to get to work sin the bart strike started. >> why did you stay out work? >> i saw the news. i knew it would be chaos. >> you are hoping for the best? >> hopefully. >> the passengers on the first bus had a pleasant ride but four people were last behind because the bus was too full and they had to wait half an hour for the next bus. a.c. transit said they are fought running center buses this morning but starting at 7:00 this will be three buses an hour. the next bus was scheduled to be here at 6:33 and it is 6:35 so

bridge toll plaza packed conditions but for the car pool lane and you need three or more people and it is 30 minutes away from the maze to the tolls and 20 minutes to get to san francisco. i will show you what the conditions look like if you are traveling along 80, 18 miles per hour is the top speed from berkeley and 580 and 880 and richmond and san rafael is in good shape and san mateo is moving along past the tolls amount. >> flight arrival delays at sfo because of the slow clouds and you can see it is beautiful from sutro toward mount tamalpais and the high clouds will dominate our afternoon forecast. temperatures again will be above average by four degrees around the bay to nearly 16 inland. today, for the next 12 hours, 50's and 60's, and much cooler this morning and hopefully we will talk about overheating cars like yesterday.
