you're looking at a live picture in tahrir square. people have been celebrating there. and then here at home a freak tragedy where a tree has fallen and killed a local counselor near yosemite. the student at uc santa cruz and nannit miranda is live with what went wrong here. nannit? >> well, a terrible accident behind me a cord tg a letter sent to parents from the director a tree fell outside of the dining room. there were fears because kids were inside of the building and no children were hurt. investigators believe the tree was weak from disease. the executive director confirms a group after dult staffers were hit bit tree and one died. it was her second year here at

the camp. a counselor at the first year, art teacher this year. the kids were taken away for other activities. >> kept them away from the area, what what i can tell, i don't know the camp. it doesn't appear to be an area where there would be a lot of traffic. again, it's unclear how much kids were here but there could be 300 at the camp for one to three week sessions. with more than 100 staff members, grief counselors are available to anyone who needs it. you can see we believe that is the area where the tree fell out side. it's now up to parents to decide whether they want to keep their kids here or pick their kids up.

this is where an fran passengers coming from san francisco are getting off and transfering on to buses. the bart buses that are going to take them closer to home this, is headed to dublin right now. it's been relatively calm. some people have been rushing we ended up seeing a woman take a header on to the sidewalk here. an ambulance got here but she got up and walked to her bus. the first part shuttle delayed by traffic they waited an hour for san francisco transbay terminal. i spoke to two women say they're waking up at 4:00 a.m. to get to work and giving up vacation time to leave early.

have to come to work tomorrow bart going to be they're go tok run once per hour during commute hours. five east bay bart stations. >> ferry system made a difference for stranded bart commuters this week. we're live at the ferry building with more on this. how are the lines today? >> lines build up and snake around the embarcadero. then, a boat comes in and thick things quickly dissipate. so let me show you video. that shows you how crowded it's been here, people began lining up earlier than yesterday.

before 2:00. ferries normally carry 6,000 daily commuters monday, 18,000 people took to waters yesterday, 19,600 today, ferries seemed just as jam packed. nearly 8,000 for morning commute. we asked people if they're starting to get fed up. >> is your patience running thin? >> they should settle it. we're being held hostage. >> what is your level of frustration? >> probably a five. i mean it's pretty inveechbl inveechblt -- inconvenient. >> getting up at 4:00 in the morning every day. my dogs aren't happy. one had an accident yesterday.

running now to the tragic death of a bay area college student hit by a falling tree. you heard from her mother earlier in the newscast. david louie is live now with reaction from some friends there. david? >> well, she would have been a senior this year here at uc the santa cruz. most friends and classmates are on campus yet but she is being remembered this afternoon in a very special place, a radio station where

she spent a lot of time volunteering. anaiis took a broadcasting class and was drawn to going on the air on sunday nights. her specialty ti for world music starting with cajun then cuban, then african music. her professor said she had a deep passion to share her naift music with others and it started with a very first radio show. >> she started doing hosting of her own world music show. she was doing the first time out she decided to do a cajun show. i don't know if she spent time in new orleans but it sounded like it. she was passionate about the music and culture of new orleans. >> other volunteers who knew her are numb after learning about the death. you can see from photos she has fun on the radio ask enjoyed working with other students who had a similar

passion. he hopes to find vocal words of her broadcast and hopes to air them as a tribute. >> thank you so much. we continue to follow major news out of city college of san francisco. there is a possibility it will have to shut down. it was put on probation in march ordered to undergo financial, and management reforms and apparently not all were met. students and staff are in shock. >> they say we failed in them. and a lot of work was done by faculty, staff, and students. >> 85,000 students attend and

are enrolled with out accreditation the school will not be eligible for state funding. the mayor called for the state to intervene and keep city college open. the school will stay accredited while appealing a decision. >> summer swelter continues. >> yes. hang in there one more day then we're out of the triple digits. we do have high clouds moving in from the south. more humid around parts of the bay area today. i'll show what you it looks like. watching that moisture moving in from the south, and that is resulting in some active weather around the state. 2200 around the state so thunderstorms developing as we're getting daytime meeting.

gold striker expected to be back up and running in time for the 4th of july holiday. neighbors complained riders were making too much noise on the thing. crews have built a tunnel across part of the coaster. it would be a lot for riders it has been closed for construction. today, finishes were going in. and great america says it should be ready by tomorrow. >> there is a dress code at the fair that some say goes too far a new law cracks down on gang clothing. certain colored ban dwranz and shoe laces are banned as well as other quote, gang identifiers. critics sate it opens the door to racial profiling. the sheriff's department says the ban does not discriminate
