station in oakland. >> it is 5:00 on a holiday but the pickets are here and could be here for a while. the bart general manager says the negotiations are going to take some time. she also talked about her workers, general manager says that and i quote, "i have great employees and they are doing a great job. they care about the traveling public. at the same time, it hasn't sunk in with them that the bay area has suffered considerably over this period of time." we asked the strike captain about the comments. >> we are out as although as it takes, okay? she is going home to sleep. we are out here as long as it takes. that is the difference between us and her. >> workers say they don't know how the negotiations are going, and they do not get briefed out here on the picket line but they say they are glad to see that both sides are still talking. they have been at the table a

lot. all afternoon, year, and late into the night, they will meet. bart board closed a closed door session at 11:00 and the workers will hold a rally at the bart station. that is will at 11:00. it will be a busy morning. >> 5:02. now a check with leyla gulen and the traffic. it is very quiet out there. we were hit hard this week with the bart strike and folks trying to make their way to work. well start out in the altamont pass, so if you are traveling out of tracy to dublin/pleasanton it is a nice drive with top speeds into dublin/pleasanton and a 24-minute commute which is is excellent.

there is volume building into in area so watch out for that. it looks like mass transit is running on a holiday schedule and we will see added buses, though, on a.c. transit. you need to help with that. a look at walnut creek shows we are going to talk about weather. we will do that. as you look at the live doppler 7 hd radar we have thunderstorms to the north. it is starting to move in toward the northwest portion of sonoma county. we will see the thunderstorm activity until later this morning and it should start to clear out. from the roof camera, look at that gorgeous view over the embarcadero looking toward the bay bridge. it is clear, there are scattered clouds but we will be seeing a gorgeous day if san francisco. hour, it will be scorching in the inland areas today and it will be the last day for the high temperatures for the day planner the next 12 hours.

7:00 a.m. we are starting off cool. we move to a high of 104 inland, and 90 at bay and 70 along the coast. katie and kristen? >> bart trains may not be running but bart will provide bus service to and from san francisco today. abc7 news reporter is at the walnut creek bart station. >> good morning, on the fourth of july. this is still a work day for many who are trying to get to work in san francisco. in walnut creek the shuttles will pick you up on california street in the white zone next to the taxicab zone and good news for folks trying to make their way to san francisco. bart is providing three buts from several east bay stations to san francisco starting at 6:00 a.m. today. each bus has a 50-person capacity. it may depart early if they are

filled before 8:00 this morning. the chatter buses pick up riders at several east bay stations, in fact, five of them. we have a map for you. el cerrito, walnut creek, west oakland, dublin/pleasanton, and fremont. the shuttles will be direct to san francisco. they will not stop anywhere in between. for the afternoon commute, three buses depart transbay terminal starting at 4:00 a.m. with the last departure at 6:00 p.m. if you are headed into san francisco if fire works or an a's game, those shuttles will not be there from the east bay to those locations. if you are commuting this morning, do not see too many people lined up. in fact, we do not see anyone. this will be shuttles available to get to san francisco this morning. >> we will give it time people are sleeping n because of the bart strike, a.c. transit is adding extra service to get

comfortable temperature. as we look right now at the three-day forecast, today 104 is expected inland and 90 by the bay and 70 at the coast. tomorrow we cool down so you will see 10 to 15 degree drop and 84 is the high. 76 by the bay and 60 along the coast and 80 degrees on sunday and 74 by the bay and 60 degrees along the coast with cloud cover for good measure. now the traffic and see what is happening on the roads. i can tell you now, not much is happening on the roads as we look at our map, you can see lots of green top speed is in all areas so a huge change from the last couple of days when we were seeing packed conditions way before this. in antioch, westboundy along highway four you are at top speed and in pittsburg to concord and a look at mass transit, a couple of buts are being add but we will expense

fourth of july, here are seven things to know today. number one, the bart strike is now in its 4th day after the union members januaryed up talks with bart last night. they scheduled to resume talking at 11:00 this morning and abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield has the late nest a few minutes. a.c. transit is increasing the holiday service to help riders get across the bay for the fourth of july adding 11 extra buses and the line that goes from oakland to san francisco and the line that goes from berkeley to the transbay terminal will run every 15 minutes. >> three, the open ceremony for the america's cup will be held today on san francisco's waterfront but the start of the race is in question. an international jury will meet on monday to decide whether to uphold safety recommendations made by the america's cup regatta director. >> four, president obama thanks the troops for their service and

of the fog. it is easy breezy this morning. now what is happening on the roads as we look at the caltran camera, san mateo is at top speeds. now we will talk about the weather with beautiful shots taken early this morning and last night. they are lightning strikes off the coast looking to the west across the pacific ocean. we still have some of the thunderstorms that are moving across the state especially right above sonoma county. you can see where we are finding activity up there and as we continue down the coast we saw a little bit of light cloud layer and fog on the coast and that will burn off by later today. the high scattered clouds are

gorgeous, a beautiful and hot day. for the next 12 hours as we start off this morning you may want to grab a light sweater at 70 degrees to get you going inland around the bay and 68 along the coast and 58. by noon the temperatures will ranch up a little bit so, 92 degrees inland and 78 an the bay and 64 degrees along the coast but watch out for this, as we head into the afternoon hours, triple digits inland and 90 by the degrees and 70 along the coast and then it cools off ever-so-slightly and a cooling period going tomorrow so we have hope on the horizon. this fourth of july brings the fourth day the bart strike with talks on break after another marathon session that ended just before midnight. and abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield is in oakland with the latest. >> they are still on strike this

morning for the holiday. the picket line is alive this morning. they could be here for a while. bart general manager says that if a new interview with the "san francisco chronicle", the negotiations are going to take some time. negotiators were busy yesterday spending the afternoon and the night at the table and are scheduled to talk again at 11:00 this morning although it is the fourth of july. they will not say how negotiations are going with in specifics released, and the workers say they have been kept in the dark but they thing it looks positive. they are working on it and have not walked out. we are hopeful they will get something going tomorrow or the next day. or some time in the near future. the general manager says "i think my workers came to the negotiation thinking they were going to make up for the last negotiations not thinking the

last four years remain what they were. we need to look forward." she also is mindful when she offers something riders and taxpayers are paying for it. negotiations will resume at 11:00. >> if you are headed to friend to celebrate the fourth of july bart says it will run limited charter bus service between the east bay and the city. however, it is geared for commuter would have to work. the transit agency will provide direct service to san francisco from five bart stations, el cerrito, walnut creek, west oakland, dublin/pleasanton and fremont. three buses at each of the five locations will be available going at 6:00 a.m. and depart when they are full or by 8:00 a.m. abc7 news reporter cornell bernard will have more in a report next half hour. >> oakland a's fans cannot use
