the coast. >> happening today, oakland city workers return to the bargaining tame after holding a strike this week. more than 5,000 workers took part in the day-long strike on monday. union representatives say city workers face a 10 percent pay cut and picketed over unfair labor practices related to bad-faith bargaining. city services returned to normal on tuesday morning. negotiations, again, resume today. >> despite the strike many still ventured out for the fireworks display in san francisco. many were hard pressed to find a good spot. >> this is the largest crowd. it is interesting it is larger with the bart strike going on. the east bay people did not come so the san francisco people did come. >> the people who did drive in from the east bay say the

commute was easy with very little traffic. >> long after the organized fireworks showed ended you could hear illegal fireworks in oakland. we got a video above east oakland where extra streets were on the patrols and they were looking for people who fired guns in the air. shot spotter technology can identify the location of a gunshot in seconds and alower the northbound by officers. >> investigators are looking into the cause of a malfunction at a fireworks show that injured dozens. >> high god. my god. whoa, whoa, whoa. >> a number of fire work shows slowedded near or on the ground two minutes into the show with shrapnel firing and people scattering and 20 people went to the hospital and eight suffered minor cuts and bruises.

the bomb squad deactivated the remaining fireworks. >> crews knocked down a two acre fire on mount tamalpais this morning. the flames were spotted at 9:30 near indian fire road on the east side of mount tamalpais with a lot of potential fire fuel. firefighters are watching the scene to make sure nothing reignites and an investigation is underway to determine the cause. >> firefighters are urging contra costa county officials to reconsider the closing of a pittsburg fire station. the station 87 will close on monday. the district says a budget deficit and declining property taxes are to blame. now, firefighters are asking the county supervisors to take a second look at the budget. monday it was announced property values in most contra costa county cities rose by almost $5 billion over last year. >> the ceremony and parade of

for anyone whost nut have the day off, you may want to get an early start if the roadways heat up. the altamont pass is moving along well at 60 miles per hour over the altamont pass to livermore and top speed over to dublin/pleasanton. the drive along highway four is locking clear through antioch to concord. not much traffic, not yet, anyway. the san mateo has a high wind advisory issued by c.h.p. from hayward to foster city it is a short 12-minute commute. eastbound side is looking clear and moving along at top speed. >> next, the latest on the investigation into the deadly tree crash in a summer camp near yosemite and who the sheriff says was involved involved in monitoring the tree. >> and we look at "jeopardy"

challenge and take on the toughest contestant but, first, america's money report. >> work day for wall street. traders have been nervous about the june jobs report with the jobs number critical to wall street because the fell reserve will phase out the economic stimulus plan as the unemployment rate lowers. airlines continue to add new fees on items that used to be free. by the year 2020 the amount from the fees is expected to double. an expert things the next fees will be on checked bags on international flights or to reserve a seat in coach and another would not be shocked if they adopt fees for carry on luggage. mustard has been around since romans time but more popular than ever the fastest growing condiment in the

rather quiet. you can see the clouds, they are developing along the coast with visibility at four miles at half moon bay and most of us are cloud-free but san francisco is starting to see the clouds try to spill across from west to east right now. here is a look at the golden gate bridge and it is looking quiet. the forecast shows it is over. highs dropped dramatically today. breezy and cloudy if you are headed to the weekend beaches, they have been sunny and mild. not anymore, back to 50 and brick wind. near average temperatures not only today but pretty much through the rest of the forecast. from the camera this morning, you can see what is left of the moon, not much, but it is a fairly new moon and six degrees cooler in oakland at 72. eight in san francisco at 67. 12 to 16 degrees cooler in san francisco or san jose and santa rosa and fremont and concord. no more 100's and not even 90, but 86 is as warm as it gets. the clouds develop along the

coast and push through san francisco and touch oakland. the fog could hang around the golden gate bridge for the afternoon if you are headed there or the marin headlands for beautiful pictures. it could be up to 20 degrees cooler in some spots but the five- to ten-degrees covers moments of our neighborhood with 20 being the extreme. 82 in gilroy today. remember when we were around 104 a couple of days? 78 in san jose. check out how comfortable and maybe cool on the peninsula today from 70 at millbrae to up to palo alto at 76 and los altos at 77. brisk day in pacifica. everyone else around 60 to 62 degrees as in daly city and upper 60's in downtown and south friend and sausalito at 70 but we will be in the low-to-mid 80's through the north bay valley today. at the beaches, 20 degrees cooler. the east bay shore, berkeley with the finger fog and breeze

at 70. 72 in oakland and hayward. everyone else in the mid-to-upper 70's and the east bay, low-to-mid 80's and the warm spot is brentwood at 87 degrees. on the windows open this morning and enjoy. temperatures tonight are back in the 50's. everyone will be cloudy but the east bay valley and the south bay. we will drop two to four degrees tomorrow and gain it back on sunday which will be like today. temperatures will hold near average with clouds at the coast and afternoon sunshine through the rest of the forecast. have a great day. leyla gulen has the commute. >> a nice weekend ahead of us. at 4:50 we are tracking the traffic with not too much to speak of. we are going to take you over to the richmond-san rafael richmonl bridge with top speeds from the east bay to marin county, and 101 headed through san rafael and through the tunnel to get over the golden gate bridge it is clear.
