good morning, i'm matt keller in for katie marzullo. let's start with a quick first look at the weather. here is meteorologist lisa argen. good morning. >> good morning to you, matt. here is look from mount tam. we're seeing low clouds and fog and sunny in san jose and 58 degrees on our coast. pretty foggy in half moon bay and winds have been breezy out in the east bay.

gusted go over 20 miles an hour around conquer. san francisco, is 54 degrees and you'll notice the fog is pretty widespread in the north bay and pulling back around the south bay. forecast calls for mostly sunny skies inland and upper 70s to low 80s around the bay. upper 60s to near 70 near oakland. clouds are hanging on to the shoreline, it will be a cool day at the coast. we have a warmup on the way. developing news in san francisco, five homes have sustained water damage following a water main break. it happened around 10:00 last night in the areas of buries else and ordway street. residents say their homes were completely flooded with water standing as high as three feet.

to find a man involved that robbery and brutal attack of a woman over the weekend. the assault was captured on surveillance. video showing the victim already on the ground. one of the attackers walks back to her and kicks her in the face with such force she drops unconscious. three have been arrested but they are still searching still searching for the man that kicked the woman. >> it's very rare to see crimes occur in a video and description that is captured. >> it took place on sunday morning right after the pink saturday event. police are looking for more possible victims of the robbers. an autopsy is scheduled to determine how a campbell pakistan couple died in the utah wilderness. they were found thursday near a popular wave trail.

the wave is mesmerizing sandstone with arizona. they were hiking in the wave in 106 degrees wednesday. they believe they died because of excessive heat. >> three people remain hospitalized following the 4th of july fireworks explosion that injured 79 people in southern california. >> whoa, whoa! >> it happened during thursday night's fireworks celebration. one device detonated early and set off a chain reaction that shot fireworks directly into the crowd. a family thought they had the best seats for shot but were caught in the line of fire. >> then all of a sudden it was like, they were right there in the front and shot right out. >> you feel the heat coming

campus of city of san francisco. they are threatening to pull the accreditation of the school. she she says says plenty of improvements have been made since the commission of junior colleges called for changes. best thing students can do is continued to sign up for classes. >> students can tell their friends, it's open and accredited and it offers high quality aaffordable education. >> any credits earned after next summer could be tough to transfer if the decision to pull stands. >> city college has a wonderful cull culinary training program. people want to get restaurant training have to go to some private institution. >> culinary program has been regarded as one of the best education bargains in the region. they can earn a two-year culinary certificate for $2200. private academies can cost

at least 36 people are now dead in egypt following clashes of supporters of mohammed morsi and his "opponent. both sides had battles over the bridge over the river. police opened fire on protestors. interim president had talks with the army chief and interior minister. he replaces morsi who was egypt's first ever democratically elected president. he was thrown out of the power by the military earlier this week. >> a firefighter killed in

9/11 attacks has been outside. the remains were collected in 2002. they were reidentified recently. he followed his dad's example and became a firefighter in 1992. he was killed in the north tower leaving behind a wife and baby son. >> the paints of a young woman killed in a freak accident at a sierra camp earlier this week are upset how the camp has handled her death. they said they heard nothing from the camp's operators for two days. nick smith has their story. >> i sense a very strong -- i sent a very strong email to the camp. >> the parents are frustrated by the way things have been handled by the camp after the death of their daughter. no one from the camp had contacted them for two days. >> what is wrong with you people? do you have no grace? do you have no conscious? do you have no empathy? do you not feel anything? why would you not contact the father. >> she was described by

friends and loved ones as full of life and vibrant. she was killed when a large tree fell on her while children and staff members were eating breakfast. it wasn't until after the father fired off an angry email to directors of the camp that he finally got a response. >> it was explained to me, it was deemed a crime scene and they couldn't get the word out. >> an answer they find it hard to accept. we reached out to the camp for a response but not heard back. >> it's nothing next for grieving father to be up at 5:30 in the morning and write such an email. >> after words were exchanged the directors allowed another counselor and friend to escort her body back to the bay area. >> he volunteered and said i don't want to go by yourself. >> as a father prepares to

bury his own daughter. >> she left a voicemail, daddy, i love you so much. >> they will be memorialized at anumni house and services are expected to draw hundreds. happening today, to two-red cross volunteers from san jose will drive to arizona to help victims of a deadly wildfire that killed 19 firefighters. they will drive in emergency vehicle to the town of prescott to help those displacesed by due to the fire. that fire broke out nine days ago and killed 19 firefighters last sunday. it burned about 8400 acres and 90% contained. utility crews have been working to restore power to residents. nsa leaker edward

snowden has two possible places, nicaragua and venezuela have offered asylum for snowden. he baseball on the run since he leaked classified information about on secret southwest program last month. he has sought asylum in 20 countries. >> new details this morning, a solar powered plane trying to cross the u.s. has departed for the final leg of its journey. it left dulles just before 5:00 this morning. it's expected to touchdown at j.f.k. tomorrow. it's airborne day and night without fuel to fly across the u.s. solar plane talked e took off from moffett field on may 3rd. >> the italian team of america's cup claiming design changes to the boat are unfair. they made the threat to

marin county and sonoma, 60 in mountain view with the sunshine. 58 in san jose. fog and 54 degrees, santa cruz right now, low clouds and 58 degrees. exploratorium showing you the gray skies, it's 58 in napa. 60 by the delta. this is where we have a bit of a breeze from fairfield to livermore. temperatures for you will be very comfortable in and around the 80-degree mark. los gatos, upper 50s right now. from roof camera you can see the bay bridge and low clouds and fog locally around the bay right now. allows for the cooler pattern to stay with us today as the fog peels back. we'll have the winds but as high pressure builds in stronger tomorrow, monday and tuesday looking at just a modest warming trend around the bay. here is a look at the fog pattern and most of the north bay around vallejo and santa rosa looking at fog. we'll have the fog holding

from the san mateo coast. here we are down in santa cruz right now showing you where we should be for this time of year and what we're expected to get today. over overall keeping the trend below average. 3 degrees below average, rubbing for a high of 83 in livermore. should see 86. napa, numbers in well in the 80s. san jose looking at highs in the mid-70s. 8 degrees shy of average and san francisco, four degrees cooler than the average. because of that we are looking at the low clouds and fog backed upright along the coast today. monterey looking at 66 degrees. inland, typically hot for july, 91 in sacramento. 101 in fresno and low 80s nearly a perfect day in the northern sierra. 83 for tahoe. southern sierra coming in 94 in yosemite. afternoon highs, running from the gambit from upper

check out this dramatic video of a dog rescue in florida. somehow he got stuck between the steering mechanism and axle. it crossed between three cities and driver heard the dog. they freed the dog. >> it was like the indy 500 put crew out there. they had the wheel off the cruiser and working to rescue the dog that was trapped up n there. >> the puppy was taken for a vet for a checkup. rescuers are trying to figure out hotdog belongs to. >> same sex wedding at san francisco's city hall with special significance. official performed thousands of marriages

elsewhere for you in the east bay and south bay with livermore coming in at 60 degrees as well as fairfield, union city and los gatos. cool numbers with the low clouds and fog from napa to santa rosa. in the south bay, you're at 57 in san jose. today, very similar with numbers coming in the mid-70s. inland east bay, top out in the low 80s so clouds hanging for point reyes down to ocean beach. mid to upper 50s and mostly sunny conditions. 70 in oakland. details on the rest of the bay area and warmup for the second half of the weekend coming up. a san francisco police are searching for to figure out who put several poison meatballs on the streets. one dog ate the food and got seriously sick. they are in intensive care

but expected to survive. police say the meatballs have been scattered deliberately. >> there were approximately 50 collected by the dog owner and the neighbors. >> the dog's vet appear to be filled with strict nine pellets. investigators don't have a motive. >> big week coming you up for bay bridge. engineers are set to present findings on bolts that were fractured. the results were positive. hundreds of bolts have been tested for brittleness and so far none has failed. so they could put off replacing the bolts and open the bridge by labor day as scheduled. if the bolts need to be replaced the opening could be delayed. a group of activists plan to protest plans to cut down trees at ucsf

today by posing nude. they plan to pose naked with the trees this morning. it comes after plans to remove thousands of trees behind the medical center over fire concerns. today's demonstrations kickoff at 11:00 this morning. police have security concerns ahead of the soccer double-header in the south bay. mexican soccer teams face off in san jose. promoters are concerned after a brawl broke out between a game between rival teams in las vegas. they met with authorities yesterday to review security plans after a match wednesday, fans stormed the field. another brawl delayed the las vegas match and several players were ejected for fighting during the game. >> a bill on the governor's desk would allow california transgender students to pick school activities that fit them best. that means they can choose

situation with tom having a steady job and good income and amy having built up enough reserves to start her own practice. she recommends the couple look into tax planning. >> so if you are both higher wage earners and you get married, do have to anticipate, you are going to have slightly higher tax rate potentially. >> but she says that could be off set the mortgage deduction. he also suggests they merge financial records even if they don't merge their accounts. know that your credit score could be impacted if you have joint credit cards and one partner has a significantly lower score than the other. most important thing is to talk everything out. tips are the same for gay couples married in california who earn their income and plan to stay here. >> spending habits are similar in the sense, we like to get nice things and we see saving as a priority. >> do all of that and conquer one of the most difficult situations of any new marriage. >> it's a pretty ideal

sunny start in union city and los gatos. we are looking at gray skies across the bay. oakland, high definition emeryville camera, berkeley marina looking west and clouds will be slow to clear in north bay and san francisco. otherwise cooler pattern holding steady and slightly warmer weather comes our way tomorrow by about 2-4 degrees and still a little bit of warming on tap for monday and tuesday. not much, readings getting up to where they should be for early to mid-july. then after that, looks like we're going to cool back again. this morning, we are a little cooler from san jose to mountain view compared to yesterday at this time. with the cloud cover, the numbers are held down. santa rosa and napa, due to a trough of low pressure that is allowing for the stronger onshore winds to visit us today. just for a day as the cool trough heads on out, we'll

developing news in canada, several people have been reported missing after a train derailment led to several explosions this morning. it happened in a town in quebec province. the train was hauling 70 tankers causing several explosions. as many thousand people have been evacuated from the area after flames spread to a number of homes. it was headed towards maine when it derailed. >> happening today some of the most talented musicians are in san francisco nor weekend's fillmore jazz festival. it will feature two dozen bands. it draws in over hundred thousand people to fillmore street. it runs from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. today and tomorrow. it looks like it will be mild for them out there. >> the winds will be blowing and temperatures will be a little cool. low 60s downtown. you can see all the fog
