he's running on a chocolate platform -- >> because it tastes good. new friends for hasselbeck, this one is a more grown-up political story. elizabeth hasselbeck has come a long way from her "survivor" days. after ten years on "the view," hasselbeck is leaving to work on "fox and friends," the morning show on fox news. during her time at the table with barbara walters and whoopi, she's often provided a conservative viewpoint. today on "the view" she said good-bye. >> the past ten years has been nothing short of extraordinary. >> underwater sax. i need to pronounce that correctly so you don't get the wrong idea. check out this rather beautiful science experiment. it involves a leopard seal. these animals sing to their mates under water. a zoo no australia sent a sax player to join the serenade to see how the animals would react. the little guy is dancing.

with live breaking news. >> that breaking news is happening at sfo, this is a live picture of crews beginning the task of removing the wreckage of flight 214 and a desperate search for a toddler, police and fbi are on the case. >> police have focused their search in three areas of oakland, 79th avenue, along the water near doolittle drive and at the father's house. we are at the father's house with up to the minute information. alan? >> carolyn and dan, police have been out here all night long and right now, fbi agents and police are convasing this neighborhood. they want to know the time anyone has seen the father with

his daughter. there's something that the police do not believe about the story. the apartment of where john anthony webb and his daughter lived with his mother, webb told police he walked into this store around 11:00 a.m. and when he came out, his baby was missing from his black ford expadition. >> after a while, he did break down and start to cry. >> the police issued an alert for her. and later they began questioning whether the father took the baby to the store. >> anyone who knows them, if they could provide a time line, a date when they last saw them together. >> they went to the his neighborhood where he grew up. >> he has never come across to me as someone that would harm a child. >> when was the last time you

saw john anthony with the baby? i would say 7 months ago. >> everyone we spoke to said they have not seen webb with his daughter in several weeks. mean at least a dozen police have been search an area along the shoreline in oak land and they had dogs sniffing a trail there and the area has been taped off as a crime scene. >> and here is a description of that missing girl. daphne viola webb is a 21-month old girl, she was last seen wearing orange pajamas with pink hearts on them. the father is not a suspect as this time. we continue following the story and the coverage continue on twitter at abc 7 news bay area. reporting live in oakland. abc news. >> more breaking news, the crews are at the site of the asiana crash to remove the wreckage.

live coverage. heather. >> reporter: dan, we are at the bay front park by our calculations that is just shy of a mile from the runway and the crash site. we have been watching crews all evening, gather debris and evidence, what you are looking at now is the main landing gear that is separated from the wreckage and it's being picked up by one of two enormous cranes and lowered on to a flat bed truck and this same procedure will be going on with parts of the wreckage, and the tail vertical stabilizer and earlier, we saw one of the two pratt and whitney engines picked up and lowered on to a truck much all of it will be going back to the ntsb's labs in washington, d.c. for further inspection. the today we learned more about the plight of the flight

attendents when the crash happened. when the tail section separated from the rest of the plane, 3 of the 4 flight attendants were ejected from the plane. they are still in the hospital and have not been interviewed. others said that as the plane skidded to rest off the run way, 2 of the evacuation slides inflated inside the plane on the right hand i'd, pinning two of them seated at the exit doors. both needed help getting out from underneath the slide and one had a broken leg. they asked to evacuate the passengers and the pilot said no. >> the lead, cabin manager made an announcement over the pa for people to stay in their seats and not evacuate. then the lead atendant saw fire

and they asked again, and this time the answer was yes. the pilots are in the front of the airplane, they do not have a good sense of what is going on be n they need to get that information from the flight attendants, we will be looking into the issue. hindsight is 20/20. >> the runway will be handed back to the symptom fo in the next 24 hours. >> our performance team has continued their documentation, they expect to wrap it up as early as this evening to allow the salvage operations on the runway to begin. >> the airport is already cleaning up debris, but it could be another week before repairs are done and the runway reopened. >> the ntsb has been gathering from the beginning what it calls

perishable evidence from the runway and the investigators have been documenting every last detail with pictures and video for instance, it's documented that all of the 300 passenger seats in the plane were still in the plane. of course there were the flight attendant seats that were ejected they have taken pictures of all the switches in the cockpit, down to the last detail as i said. then, once they were done with all of that, it would be a matter of handing the run way back over to sfo to do debris clean up, the evidence that the ntsb does not need and then, the airport has a long task, perhaps as much as a week of not only finishing the cleanup, but also the repairs to make sure that the runway is safe to accept planes for landing again. live, abc 7 news. >> thank you very much, earlier at the same spot where the

wreckage came to rest, an emotional scene. crash survivors and the families of the two girl tharps killed went to the crash site to honor the victim. it must have been overwhelming. >> dan, it was an emotional day as the families boarded four buses here at the crown plaza behind me and went to see the wreck edge for themselves. a caravan of buses escorted by police and tarmt officials returned to the crash scene tonight. on the buses, survivors and family members of those on board flight 214. the first group, relatives of the two 16-year-olds who were killed in the crash. the two families on a large white bus stayed at the scene for more than 30 minutes before they were escorted back to the hotel by police. after they left, three large black buses full of survivors and others were at the site.

they stepped off the buses one by one, staying on the tarmac, still a distance away from the plane. it was the last chance to see what the loved ones went through as they went through the crash. >> well the first public appearance for flight attendants were too emotional to speak. they faced dozens of reporters and two of them burst into tears and were escorted back out after one spoke. a translator that did not offer her name said that the spectacle was too much for them to handle. >> so this was a very emotional event for the people who were here right now and a lot of their co-workers are still in the hospital. >> in fact, 6 of them are still in the hospital. the lead flight a tmpattendant the only one to speak, she offered prayers for the injured and their families. >> stay with us for continuing

coverage. we will keep you up to date on the removal of the debris. this is a live picture of sfo on run way 28 left. and the frantic calls to 911 after the crash. now to the delay in the opening of the new span of the bay bridge. it's meeting with harsh criticism from a peer review panel, a delay could put drivers more at risk. the bay area toll authority was told that the span the drivers use now is structurally vulnerable and could collapse in an earthquake. opening the new span would not happen until december, because they need time to replace bolts install support saddles but the peer review chair said it's not good enough. >> there's no question what we should do. put the traffic as quickly as possible on the new bridge. >> during today's meeting they agreed with the assessment and proposed a temporary solution. it would allow the traffic to be

on the bridge while the permanent fix is installed. >> we will have to see what they do. well, we have a lot more to tell but the crash of sfo, flight. we are at the san francisco airport and our plane crashed upon landing and i think we need help as soon as possible. >> the 911 calls from passengers and why it took so long for the first responders to arrive. >> clouds up as you can see here, and cooling down, temperatures right now in the 50s and 60s, i ñprpr9ñ

the wreckage of flight 214 at sfo. >> tonight, we are hearing some of the 911 calls that followed the asiana plane crash, many called because they were worried about the emergency response. >> hi, we are at the san francisco international airport and we were just in a plane crash and there are a lot of people that need help. >> she was one of the first plane crash survivors to call 911. >> and there are a bunch of people that need help and there's not enough medics here to help. there's a woman on the street -- on the run way that is pretty much burned se eed severely on d and we do not know what toe youo >> were you on the plane, ma'am? >> yes, i was on the plane. we have been on the ground between minutes, a half an hour, we have people with critical head >>injuries. >> wendal was in seat 15 d and

was trying to help others. >> we were looking at the rescue workers and were like, okay, we need help. i'm not sure what they were up to, but it felt they lagged a bit. but then, i guess, we don't know what, maybe that other things to consider. >> they said that is exactly the case, she is a spokes person for the san francisco fire department. in a large scale emergency, they have to respond differently. ambulances cannot just pull up to the plane. >> one of the reasons that they did stage the ambulances a distance away from the aircraft was in case there was an explosive event. we would not be left without ambulances. >> so victims may not have seen the medical personnel, but they were there, triaging patients and taking them to nearby hospitals. >> san francisco had units on the scene in 13 minutes and when they arrived, san matteo had units on the scene.

rosa and oakland. you are blocked in. a few light showers down to the south. this has been sub tropical moisture moving up northward. it's a view, time lapse view and you see the high clouds that were coming in from the south. now the high clouds were moved off to the east and replaced by, as you can see from the especiallyoryville camera, temperatures, 54 in san francisco, it's 57 in oakland and 59 in san jose, and as you check out the view from the rooftop camera, we are looking towards an overcast sky down the bay. fog clouds and drizzle in the morning. litly schooler in the next few days -- slightly cooler in the next few days. fog coverage, not just coast and bay, we will see fog and low coverage into the valleys in the morning. when you go out the door, you will want an extra layer. movie areas on the school sicoo.

we are seeing mist here along the coast line already. here is the area of low pressure that is going to continue our cooling trend tomorrow. so the wind flow coming off of the cool ocean water will continue to wrap up and so those temperatures will fall a couple more degrees. especially inland. highs for thursday. south bay, 78 in san jose, i don't in los gatos, and 73, sunnyvale, breezy cool and about the same in pacifica, you will see lingering clouds around daly city. and in the north bay, temperatures close to today's levels. you took a pretty good hit. 77 in santa rosa. and upper 50s along the coast. clear lake, low 90s. tomorrow afternoon, oakland, 70,

dan, carolyn? >> all right, thank you. >> let's go back to the breaking news where crews are beginning to remove the wreckage, abc news reporter has been watching the progress. heather? >> hi, carolyn, things have slowed down here just in the last couple of minutes. we are at bay front park. by our calculations we think just a hair under a mile from the runway and where all the activity is going on. i cannot with my naked eye make out what is going on. you at hope could probably see much better, they are lifting a very large piece of wreckage here. we believe it's the landing gear, the main landing gear that was separated from the plane. they have also taken away the engine tonight. this is a massive job. should be going on through the night. and the runway is not expected to open up for another week. that is the situation here.
