good afternoon, everybody, i'm larry beil. >> more major developments from investigators looking into the cause of the asiana airlines crash at sfo. investigators said the bright light the flying pilot reported seeing didn't actually affect his vision. that light could been a reflection from the sun. >> the review of the cockpit voice recorder found no mention about the plane's declining speed until nine seconds before impact. the pilots knew they were

coming in too high, then too low for a safe landing. >> during the approach there were statements made in the cock pitd first about being above the glide path. then, being on the glide path then being below the glide path. all of these statements were made as they were on at approach into san francisco. >> now, investigators also revealed all plane auto flight systems appear to be functioning normally. the impact tore open the plane's door that is why three of the four flight attendants sitting there were are ejected. investigators revealed the fire that engulfed the center of the plane after the crash started in the right engine. the plane's fuel tanks were not punctured and jet fuel did not burn. >> five days after the deadly plane crash at sfo process of removing wreckage and reopening the airport is

underway. sky 7 shows us some of the clean up today and a large crane removed some of the larger pieces from the runway inclurding the wheels here is a map. the airport three other runways are open. abc 7 news is live from across the airport in burlingame for us. laura? >> yes. hi. well removeal of the debris has begun. at least a smaller pieces. all things that were on the runway itself has been completed. next begins removing the fuselage so it can be put together and further examined in a local hangar. >> these recovery operations of the aircraft of 214 will entail cutting the aircraft structure and taking aircraft out piece by piece. >> removeal of the gutted

fuselage of fleegt 214 expected to begin as soon as tonight. >> it's a big structure going to need to be removed carefully. and they'll cut through to remove seks of the wings then cutting through fuj lauj to remove section autos throughout the bay, has at that time and crews worked side by side recovering debris big and small. abc 7 news learned discussions underway to move the fuselage to one two of giant hangars. super bay or a similar facility across the bay in oakland international airport. once all debris is gone, officials will begin restoring runway 28-l to usable condition. >> one of the things we don't know is when we lift up the aircraft and move it out of the way, what is left to be done underneath the aircraft? we expect there is going to be a lot of hazardous fuel, hydraulic feuds that needs to

be cleared up. >> the reopening will be a relief to passengers who have had to endure five days of long delays and cancellations. >> keeps getting delayed. we're just waiting. >> this week there have been 100 cancellations per day. >> some of the asiana flight attendants on board flight 214 returned home to south korea today. their flight land and they were met at gate by the airline ce skpo. news cameras. several broke down in tears. the cabin manager credited with carrying some injured passengers off the plane explained why there was a delay in getting everybody off the plane. >> among 12 flight attendants seven were injured by the inflated slides so they were

not able to participate in the rescue process, unfortunately five of us had to rescue the passengers and that is why there was a delay in the process. >> six of the 12 flight attendants suffered injuries serious enough they're still here in, san francisco. one released from the hospital today and ntsb investigators will want to interview them before they head home. >> 35 students were heading to a summer camp here in the san fernando valley. tonight that school is holding a prayer vigil for victims and survivors. students were planning t spend three week was the group. the camp has been cancelled. the two 16-year-olds were killed were heading to that camp in los angeles county. >> take a look at the picture that's they sent from the dinner attended at chinese consul general's home this, was posted on the consulate's web site.

waters off mlk regional shore line. that is where abc 7 news is live now with the latest. allen? >> yes. police set up a command post here because this is where the father is believed to have taken his daughter many times, he appears to be -- last night they arrested him and charge charged him with child felony endangerment because he left his daughter in the store with his mother who is mentally ill. the amber alert still in effect. the search is beginning to look like a recoverry. a police boat using video cameras combed the area along mlk regional shore line. the girl's father told police his daughter was abducted from his black ford expedition yesterday while he was in this store on international boulevard. he said his mother had her

purse stolen, too. she's been unable to help. police who searched his apartment yesterday have been unable to find anyone who saw the 49-year-old father with his daughter before the abduction or in the past few weeks. >> we would like to narrow down a time line of last time they were seen together. and start working forward and backward so we're asking for assistance from the community to help us. >> the 2-year-old weighs 30 pounds and was last seen wearing orange pajamas with pink hearts on them z wearing pink socks, coming up, police ruled out the biological mother. friends and family say she's been in the hospital for an unknown condition. coming up at 5:00 i'll tell you about the phone conversation i had with john anthony webb's daughter today and will tell you why child protective services may know a little bit more about this case.

we begin with the latest developments on the crash of asiana flight 214. >> the national transportation safety board wrapped up its final briefing about an hour ago. we have detailed animation showing how it happened. voice rofrders reveal the pilot did not talk about the declining speed until just nine seconds before impact. >> one of the three warned the plane was highing -- flying too high, then too low that. happened just 34 seconds before the crash. >> a light reported seeing could have been a reflection from the sun. today, clarifying nobody else reported seeing it investigators described severity of the damage. the floor of the plane disintegrated before the rear set of doors. that explains how treated and released of the four flight

attendants were ejected from the fuselage. tonight we'll take a look at what pilots do to control the pilot and a local surgeon that helped treat some of the injured. >> international journey decided america's cup teams from itally and new zealand won their appeal. that means there will be a real race in the america's cup. >> there were question about the safety of the boats after the death of andrew simpston in may when an artemis boat cap sized. mark? >> here it s 23 page decision along with word itally and new zealand will race this saturday. the jury's decision went against the regatta director but calmed waters for a bit. in the interest of safety america's cup director told the team that's they could increase the size of the winglets to make boats more stable and could increase the weight of the boat presumably to add more strength.

those changes came after team artemis's yacht collapsed in may. today, a jury of experts appointed by the america's cup event ruled the regatta director overstepped authority. >> we abide by the jury. i'm disappointed in it. but you know, we abide by it. >> the director told reporters today he will talk with the teams and the coast guard and event will move forward. new zealand's ceo says the decision levels the playing field. he's willing to give the team permission to bend rules if it gets them into the competition. >> if artemis needs leeway they're working hard. good guy ootz italian team of luna rosa declined to comment. artemis issued a statement saying it was disappointed but looking forward to getting the boat into the water. the crowd less than hoped for.
