>> abc7 news starts with breaking news. >> we begin with breaking news, san jose firefighters are at the seen of a husband fire involving a woman with more than 100 cats and dogs in her home many of which did not survive. we go to abc7 news reporter at the scene. matt? >> firefighters are still here. this is the last trucks on the scene. to the left of it is a house where the fire started. it took an hour to get this fire out. when it was over close to 100

cats were killed. the homeowner said her dog woke her up before 1:45 this morning in south san jose. she smelled smoke, called 9-1-1 and trapped inside the home. firefighters had to pull her out to safety. 94 or 95 cats inside were killed. the homeowner said she is part of an animal rescue group contracted with stanford university to spay the cats on campus, a no kill organization so she takes care of the cats she says would not survive being released in the wild. animal control said if they heard of a home with this many cats they would visit to check on the health of the animal and the homeowner. there is an investigation over the cause of the fire. the bodies of the cats still inside the home. the homeowner said she hasn't decided yet what to do. >> now the forecast. it is cool.
