comfortable and mild in the low 60s. by this evening it will drop town to upper 50s along the coast and low 80s inland. we do have a cool-down onets way and i will have those details coming up shortly. >> thank you francis. more rallies are scheduled today in the second week of protests over the george zipper van verdict. one is at the federal building on clay street in oakland. today's rallies come after about 100 people parred peacefully yesterday. our reporter sergio quintana was there. >> about 100 people gathered for a candlelight vigil. organizers repeatedly reminded everyone to stay nonviolent. >> this is a peaceful ceremony honoring trayvon martin. >> mixed among the group was mayor jean quan. most arrived on foot from a

rally that started earlier in the evening. a number of organizations, each with a different focus came together for this event. some here speaking out against gun violence, and some are here to address vandalism that happened against businesses in earlier events. >> the real concern is they are trying do business to help the city, so why attack someone who wants to ultimately better u-. >> he asked fellow professional black men to be part of the coalition to try to add a different image of oakland activism. >> black men in particular is not about the movements the rowdiness. we want to show the world that we can be professionals. >> his group planned on checking in with downtown businesses of that been ported up. another group, a large contingent of oakland police. >> all hands-on deck, everyone is here. >> a fleet was used to mobilize police ahead of the organizers

and dozen trailed the group as they waved the streets on their march n oakland abc7 news. other rallies are scheduled today at san jose city hall and the jesse bethel high school in vallejo. despite the hope for peaceful protests this weekend, some businesses around taking chances. bank of america and others have their windows boarded up and the tribune building installed security lights after $6,000 of glass were destroyed glory protests. in a surprise appearance yesterday, president obama talked at length about the trayvon martin shooting and verdict. he said he spoke from the hurt why there is no much anger. >> the african-american community is looking at this issue through a set of experience and history. there are very few african-american men in this country who haven't had the experience of being followed when they were shopping in a department store. and that all be contributes, i

think, to a sense that if a white male teen was involved in the same kind of scenario, that from top to bottom both the outcome and the aftermath may have been different. trayvon martin could have been me 35 years ago. >> this is actually a look at a young barack obama next to trayvon martin. pictures like these are making their way around social media. trayvon's parents said they are honored the president is recognizing him. there was an accident on southbound 101 and the vernal exit. police are investigating but it just reopened. there will be more on the story as it becomes available. a motor cyclist is led this morning after being hit by two

cars in san jose. witness said it looked like they were racing before they crashed and hit the motorcyclist. the cars ended up in a yard. several streets in the area were shut down while police investigated. so far no one has come forward with any substantial leads in the search for the killer of an 8-year-old girl who was shot to death on wednesday night. abc7 news reporter allen wong has more on how the girl's mother is calling on the community to help. >> alaysha carradine's mother described her daughter as a girl who loved to talk. her nickname was ladybug. there were pictures sent to the school. >> chiquita carradine got the bad news while she was on vacation. the girl was shot while at a sleep over. the other family members were

wounded while they answered the door. someone fired ten shots into it. >> i wish she was here now so i could hold her and give her run last hug and a kiss and let her know that i lovie smith her. >> the reward money for information lead to go an arrest has been increased to $35,000. and police say they are relying heavily on the community. >> what investigators are looking for they believe there's a vehicle related to either the shooter or shooters, the suspects who may have traveled together. >> i can't believe she's the 54th homicide? oakland and no one has come forward to tell me anything or they didn't see anyone. alaysha's mother said she spent six months researching a safe place to live about you it didn't stop the senseless crime. in oakland, allen wong, abc7 news. happening today, family members of a missing toddler will go door to door to try to find anyone who may have seen her.

daphne web's mother reported her missing anyone case ago. the father said he left her in an s.u.v., and when he came out she was gone. her family will be in that neighborhood starting at 10:00 a.m. handing out flyers at homes and businesses. san francisco fire department officials are admitting one of their vehicles ran over and killed a passenger on asiana flight 214. the coroner has confirmed the 16-year-old girl died after being hit on the runway by an emergency fire vehicle. she is seen here in home video. she was found under a foot of fire fighting foam near the plane's left wing. the girl was still alive when she was run over. >> obviously this is very difficult news for us. we are heartbroken. we are in the business of saving lives and many lives were saved that day on july 6th related to flight 214. >> the chinese consulate issued a statement "we urge the parties

of the u.s. side deal properly with the aftermath of her death and affix responsibility for this tragic accident." the flight 214 requested a go around before landing safely yesterday. the flight was about a half-mile runway when it took a second run at that time. there's no explanation the go-around but the faa said it's common and can happen for a variety of reasons. >> 12 residents in san jose including four children, need a new place to say after two homes were damaged by fire last night. fire crews responded to several calls of multiple homes on fire just before 6:30. upon arrival they saw a gasometer had broken off one of the homes and was leaking gas, feeding both fires. the fires were controlled in about 40 minutes. oakland police arrested a man who they say led them on a case while carrying a stroller a baby and a gun. this is video you will only see on abc7 news. police say the man took his baby

at gunpoint yesterday a from his girlfriend who is the baby's mother. security guards from summit medical center chased him down the street until police cornered them. they say he ditched his gun but refused to give up the baby girl. police tazed him. the baby was not hurt and is now reunited with her mother. >> a campbell chiropractor is under arrest this morning on charges of sexually salting one of his patients. the 46-year-old man was taken into custody yesterday and booked on a sexual battery charge. police say the assault happened in his office on east hamilton avenue. police want to know if any other patients were touched inappropriately. >> the doctor who was arrested in this case has been in business for a number of years and has seen numerous patients and based on what happened, we are trying to determine if there are any other potential victims in this case. a woman who answered the phone at the the doctor's office

said she has no comment on the case. new problems for the bay bridge, but this time on the western span. we have a live look at the bay bridge for you this morning. caltran said it needs to replace 96 giant seismic shack absorbers because they have worn-out twice as fast as expected. the shocks were installed as part of a big earthquake retrofit in 2004 and were expected to last 20 years. the $13 million for the fix will come from bridge tolls. dark out there at 5:10 obviously on this saturday morning, but what are we looking at weather-wise? >> we are looking at plenty of sunshine later this afternoon w he have a lot of widespread low clouds from emeryville out toward the bay. i'll let you know when you can expect it to clear in your neighborhood and how hot it is going to be. >> thank you francis. also next, a scary roller coaster accident. a woman falls to her death. what witnesses saw just before it happened. and outrage over the contact

saturday morning. we coming up on 5:14. you you are looking leave from our roof cam. you can see the lights on the bay bridge just beyond the ferry building. it's a cloudy morning to start you off. frances dinglasan is in for lisa argen today and she said the sun is bogey to come out. she will have more details in a few minutes. we are getting more details about a woman who fell from her death from a texas roller coaster in front of her son. it happened yesterday evening at six flags texas on the texas giant roller coaster. several witnesses say the victim asked park employees to make sure she was properly restrained. a woman who was in line behind the victim said the safety bar released and the woman tumbled off. the texas giant which is 14 stories ta. l at its highest point, is closed for the investigation. the san diego county clerk is now asking the california supreme court to stop same sex marriages. clerk filed the petition yesterday. it argued that same-sex marriage

is still illegal in california, despite a u.s. court ruling last month. they claim the high court decision only applies to alameda and los angeles counties where the people in the original lawsuit lived. last year a similar request was rejected. neighbors in fremont is upset that a new housing track is about to be built on a portion of a nearly 200-year-old cemetery. we caught up with a man who says she has proof there are still bodies buried at old st. joseph cemetery. >> i'm totally sure of that, that my house my car -- not my family but -- >> he bets there are still bodies still in the cemetery. he lives next to the burial grounds and he watched at 250 graves were dug up to make room for the development in 2007.

>> they dug up all the bodies in the west and then he this stopped. they didn't dig up any bodies notice east. >> he showed us a map where the bodies were removed and where he claims there are still caskets buried in the area where the homes will sit. construction has begun so he has made his findings public on facebook and found support from other neighborhood and parishioners who want to stop the homes being built on hallowed ground. >> this man claim to check on his father's grave. >> i didn't think he was disturbed, but i i wanted to make sure. >> the church moved from 240 remains into 24 one grave site. >> he was buried up in the hill with a beautiful view lot and he was dug up and crammed into a mass grave. and that is just -- that's disgusting. >> he said he doesn't believe anyone will want to live in a home where there are still

possibly bodies buried underground. he's written to the developer asks them to shelf their plans and has not heard back. ay7 news called and are also waiting for comment. st. joseph church, who sold the property for more than $5 million, says the money will go for a new church and if any remains are found during construction, they will rebury them properly. in the south bay, abc7 news. developing news. a second community is preparing for a possible evacuation order as the massive fire in the san bernardino mountains continues to bern. it's spread to more than 5,000 ache speakers has already forced the evacuation of a small community. the officials are worried the fire could grow even larger because of possible thunderstorms. fire broke out monday and has destroyed at least a dozen structures. more than 3,000 firefighters are on the ground battling the flames. the fire, just 15% contained right now. the governor has declared a state of emergency.

the fire near the grape future section has grown. authorities there issued an evacuation order for about two dozen homes. a big rig on the side of the freeway may have sparked this fire. it is 567% contained. a young couple that survived the aurora movie shooting, has decided to turn the one year anniversary into their wedding date. the shooting left 12 people dead and injured more than 730. the two were on a date sitting in the second row when the suspect, james holmes, opened fire. hundred pushed davis under the chair and shielded her with his own body. he was shot in the hip and knee. >> it was a night of terror and horror and all of that stuff but we wanted to change the date and, you know kind of make it our own. >> that night, how he saved me so, of course, i want to keep

as it sweeps through, picking up low-level moisture in the clouds but no rain. i want to take up towards parts of nevada, reno. a heat advisory has been issued. a lot of folks traveling during the summer weekend. this is in effect until tomorrow night at 10:00. we are talking temperatures near 105, 110 degrees. and then overnight lows will also be quite warm. try to stay indoors if you are heading to that area. here's a live view. a little blurry. we will try to keep it in focus for you. low clouds over the bay, san francisco 52, mountain view at 59. here's another view from emeryville picking up the low clouds i wanted to just show you. you see the bay bridge in the distance. we have a marine layer that's about 1500 feet deep, and we also have fog spilling into the valleys, particularly in the north bay and santa rosa. it's 51 degrees right now with visibility limited at one-half

of a mile down to a half-mile and fog reported there, as well. napa at 56. fairfield 56. and partly cloudy conditions in livermore at 55 degrees. so here is that marine layer coming into the bay area via the golden gate bridge. you see a lot of low clouds. you can barely see the towers but you can see across the san. we have a foggy coast and it's going to be foggy in the valleys, especially north bay valleys. hot temperatures inland, mild at the coach and then gradual cooling starting tomorrow that will stay with us through tuesday. here's the satellite image. the warm air mass moving closer, bringing us warmer temperatures around the bay and in the interior areas, but still keeping it fairly comfortable at the beach. here's how it plays out. we have a lot of sunny skies. even by 8:00 this morning notice how a lot of the clouds are already back to the coast. so warmer numbers today. then tomorrow the clouds will

return slightly overnight but we will see some high clouds coming our way and a stronger on shore flow into tuesday bringing numbers down again. highs today it's going to be 83 in san jose if you are headed to the festival. plenty of sunshine as well. 74 degrees. with the low 80s so quite warm on the lower part of the peninsula. 37 milbrae. san francisco pretty comfortable as well. partly cloudy conditions closer to the coast. 62 in the sunset district, 67 downtown. sonoma and napa quite warm, upper 80s. hotspot ukiah at 104. but notice along the coast, still the 60s. in the east bay look for 70s. 78 union city, even up to 80 in fremont and very mild and comfortable in richmond at 74 degrees. interior valleys near 100 degrees. so we are going to come up a few more degrees compared to yesterday. 95 in san ramon. here's the accuweather seven-day

others say hot so fast. here's abc7 news capitol correspondent nannette miranda with the story. the cars of today are so advanced with gps, backup cameras and other high-tech extra, except. >> the one thing on the car that's still 20th century is the license plate that is stamped metal and we think it can be done more efficiently and at a better cost, potentially through digital technology. >> a measure at the capitol would allow dmv to have a pilot program with up to $1,160,000 vehicles that would allow a digital screen on the license plate. youtube shows what one might look like on a motorcycle. it has wireless capabilities so dvm can directly update your license plate as you pay and maybe spot your car.

>> water officials are warning california's record dry year will probably lead to restricts cut-backs. the first six months of the year have been bone dry in california. last year was a wet one and there was plenty of storage carrying over to this year, but that has been depleted and reservoir levels are dropping rapidly. some agencies are asking customers to alternate washing days and farmers may face restriction that is haven't been implemented in 30 years. wow, what a difference a year makes. it's 5:47 now. it's not the case everywhere in the west. >> no not the case at all. in fact, we are getting in the

national weather service that there may have been record rainfall yesterday. las vegas that's correct beat a record from 1951. so yesterday they got .2 >> inches of rain. .22 inches. for us we will tell you what you can expect. we will see warm weather out there. live doppler 7hd picking up the cloudy conditions over the bay. as we look live from our roof camera towards the bay bridge. you see that marine layer just pushing in. and temperatures right now in the 50s. 53 in san francisco, 56 in oakland. and 58 in san jose. we are also seeing some patchy dense fog develop in some locations in the valleys like in santa rosa where it's currently 51. also look for fog in novato, 50 degrees and los gatos currently at 58. this is a shot as we look out from emeryville toward the bay once again. low clouds, even some fog right now. you will find it across the golden gate bridge. hard to see all the way across

the span right now. here's what you can expect for today. we have a foggy coast. foggy as well in the valleys. but there's a warmer air mass heading our way. we will see hot temperatures inland, coming up a few degrees, as well as around the bay. but still mild, keeping it fairly cool along the coast near the 60s and then a gradual cooling starting tomorrow, continuing into tuesday. so we have this warm air mass moving closer to us. that's going to bring us some record heat in the eastern part of the sierras and also western nevada. around the bay we will just see warmer temperatures and in the inland communities it's going to be quite hot, as well. so here's what your numbers look like for today. a great day to head to the blues festival in san jose. 83 degrees. morgan hill 90. 81 menlo park and palo alto. if you want more comfortable weather, san francisco is right at 67 degrees.
