she faces vehicular man slaughter and other charges for the crash on the richmond parkway. police say myers was speeding and drive wougt a license when her suv flipped over. her 5-year-old was thrown from the su skpr. died. three teenagers and her other daughter were in the suv. none of the passengers was wearing a seat belt. the children were not in child safety seats. >> she'd been charged with vehicular man slaught why another count of involuntary man slaughter and four kounlts of child endangerment. >> her family attended the hearing but did not want to speak on camera. the mother sk held on $1 million bail. the judge saying she pose aids threat to public safety. >> an east oakland community is pleading tonight to try to find a way to put an end to the violence.

this just days after a beloved woman was shid shot and killed near her home. >> some so frustrated they believe hiring private security might be the missing piece. >> don't go around shooting and killing innocent people. >> dozens attended a ral yes to speak out violence that claimed the life of the popular pet sitter judy soloman. >> i hear your complaints wex need to take action but we need your help. >> her death seems to be the latest in violence. the 66-year-old shot in the head in afternoon here in the 2400 block of burns street. last week an 8-year-old was shot and killed. investigators say the little girl ran to answer the door while at a sleepover when a gunman opened fire.

and county has been beating us pretty bad. i don't want to miss things up she's talking about the county seizing her property under power of eminent domain. the county is offering her $135,000 for the six and a half acres. but records show the property is assessed at $406,000. >> it's been emotional rollercoaster. it's our government should be protecting us. they're not. they're just trying to take our property, steal it. >> the family's attorney says the constitution guarantees the right to let a jury decide the land value. but in eminent domain cases tax records are inadmissible. cannot be shown to the jury. >> they probably will never hear what, in my opinion is the biggest injustice in this case so far. >> the county manager can tell us about expansion he was barred from talking about the case. >> so we can't talk about

now, a soldier has become a national hero. he's a staff sargeant in u.s. army listing his hometown as antioch. there is a 3 d video of the camp his heroics made him only the fifth living soldier to be awarded medal of hon yorks the top award for braifrly. abc 7 news is live in ant yk tonight. we understand we spoke with his father. >> we did. he can barely keep emotions in check saying this isn't just great news for him and his family, it's terrific news for him where he grew up. the staff sargeant grew up here in antioch. he began in 1998 when joining

marines. he joined the army. he has a host of medals including a purple heart. his deployment and commendations for employment in iraq and afghanistan. his company position was tacked by a taliban force. he also managed to address wounds while under fire, and managed to carry that wounded soldier to cover. he then risked his life to recover a radio in order to call in help. >> this is some bragging rights. as a dad, yae. you don't get that often. he has a sister and stepsister that are both nurses and we

aerial castro a man who kept three women captive for a decade will spend his life in prison pleading guilty to more than 900 counts against him including kidnapped, rape and aggravated murder because he caused one of the women he impregnated to miscarriage. prosecutors are recommending live in prison without parole and 1,000 years. >> i am very good at failing and reading and spelling but i can't comprehend like i mentioned my addiction to pornography and sexual problem has taken a toll on my mind. >> castro also told the judge he'd like to visit with the girl he fathered with one victims but prosecutor says they want to make sure that that never happens. the women he held captive released a statement saying this they approve of the plea

middle school girls about robots. it's part of a plan to inspire engineer autos what do you want to be when you grow snup. >> an engineer. >> she is well on her way in this lab at uc davis she's among 15 girls learning to assemble and program robots in a one week camp. >> it's really fun. >> really fun? what have you learned? >> i learned how to program computer autos before the week, hardly any of the girls have red code. now, they're bringing robots to life. and learning the joy of debugging. >> it's frustrating because sometimes it's hard to find out where the air is. >> they hit road blocks and they knock them down z then, they just see this moment where everything works.
