front of the building. the group is against plans to sell the building. postal officials say it needs to sell because the postal service is in bad financial shape. the protesters say the building belongs to the people. the berkeley post office was built in 1914 and is on the register of historic places and one of hundreds of post offices across the country slated to close. protesters say the camp is off to a good start. >> slept like a log. it was great. and you see we have food. we got up and somebody brought grits, and we're eatle well. last night we had a movie. the postman. >> how long are you going to do this? >> as long as we can, until we can stop the sale of the post office. it's the will of the people. the will of the representatives in city council, to save this

post office. it's not necessary. >> berkeley city leaders are doing what they took prevent the sale of the building. the fight to save the post office is on many levels. officers have encouraged people to stay out of the the street but that's the extent of it. >> police in hayward are looking for a suspect out thief who wounded two store security officers. the suspect tried to walk out of home depot without paying for items when the loss prevention officers confronted hem. the suspect shot one officer in the shoulder and pistol-whipped the other. across the street police found a bloody shirt and what looked like human hair. they believe the suspect cut his hair. both security officers are going to be okay. >> tonight, man is likely to face charges after a allegedly causing a car crash that killed a woman in san san leandro. the crash happened at 2:30 this morning on washington boulevard.

we talked with neighbors about the 57-year-old woman who died. >> it was a head-on collision that took the woman's life and left her husband with life-threatening injuries. police tell me the driver of the other car was going 100-miles-an-hour down this street and they tell me they do believe he was driving drunk. >> very caring. went to church every sunday. >> neighbor spent the day consoling one another after their beloved neighbor was killed and her husband leftfighting for his life. >> her husband, ron, and mia, they were very, very, very nice people, very friendly. they would barbecue, and barbecue for everybody. >> the woman was in the passenger seat when the couple were driving north. another car speeding southbound

at 100 miles-per-hour hit them head-on. moments before that a police officer saw the slow low driver speed past hem but lost sight of him. >> as he appalled -- pulled off on washington he noticed the vehicle has struck another vehicle head-on. >> the scene shows the victims' car totaled, the front of the car crushed. the officers pulled the man who was speeding from his car moments bit of caught fire. he is in the hospital in serious condition. the other driver is in critical condition but his wife died at the escape. police continue to investigate the crash. eight hours later. investigators don't know if the speeding driver crossed the line but they say they believe alcohol was involved. >> if it is found he caused the collision, and alcohol was a factor, he can be facing a dui with enhancement of causing serious bodily injury and death. >> it will take a few weeks for

blood-alcohol tests to come back. abc7 news. >> b.a.r.t. trains are running on time tonight after an electrical fire stopped service in richmond. the fire happened inside a substation in the richmond maintenance yard. flames knocked out power to the entire yard which meant the trains couldn't move. the line was shut down for 45 minutes. investigators are looking into the cause of the fire. b.a.r.t. officials are confident the monday morning commutes will be normal. >> contract talks between b.a.r.t. and the employee unions are set to resume tomorrow. both sides have until next sunday to avert another strike. yesterday both sides met and discussed some issues, including worker safety, but not the major sticking points like salary and benefits. a spokesman for the transit agency says they're optimistic a strike won't happen. a four-day strike halted service earlier this morning and ended after an agreement for a 35 poe-day contract extension.

>> animal rights activist staged a protest in front of sea world. 100 people lined the walk asking the public to boycott the park. they're criticized for keeping whales in captivity for life. and saying it's a human. two former sea world trainers are featured in a film speaking out about the safety of staff who work with the whales. >> activity without a doubt increases the stress level of

heavy rains that cased flashflooding in north carolina are being blamed for two deaths. the bodies of a ten-year-old girl and a 48-year-old man were pulled from a creek. a wide part of the western part of the state got more than a foot of rain, causing major flooding. homes, apartment, and some business were soaked. >> i just started over and just started over and got stuff in here and lost everything again. >> residents fear with the atlantic hurricane season intensifying more nasty weather could hit the region in the coming weeks. >> bad weather could be a problem in hawai'i. flood warnings have been issued. residents are bracing for gusty winds and the rainfall the storm could bring.

temperature pattern, guess you could say, and then we'll start to warm things up and finally start to feel like summer again. live doppler 7hd, the strong onshore winds just pushing that fog well inland right now, and this is a pretty good example of what you will wake up to tomorrow morning, already the golden gate bridge reporting quite a bit of drizzle and mist, the marina district, overcast skies, over to emeryville and berkly and oakland. thunderstorm activity, most of it has been cop -- confined in nevada and lightning strikes in yosemite but moe of the moisture is pushing out of the area. winds a big factor. gusts to 33 at fairfield. napa, pretty good gusts at 28. anytime we get the strong southwesterly winds you better believe the low overcast will move in further inland.

san jose, sunshine right now. 72. 58 in san francisco. santa cruz, 65. this is what it looks like high above mt. tam right now. just a wall of fog. napa, 63. we have 74 in livermore. emeryville cam you can see the clouds moving over the bay, and that will be what you can expect overnight tonight. that mist and drizzle. another cool day for your monday and then start to warm things up as we head into thursday, friday, and next weekend. overnight temperatures tonight with dense overcast, and also that drizzle generally in the mid-to-upper 50s across much of the region, and the reason for all of this is that we do have low pressure sitting just off the coast, and it continues to drive the strong west to southwesterly winds in our direction, and any kind of low cloudiness for fog just off the coast, just going to pick it up and move it further inland, so another cool day tomorrow and then trend into some warmer temperatures. we just mentioned tropical

storm. i want to show it too you here. 550-miles to the southeast of honolulu. the wind right now, 60 miles-per-hour. the gusts to 70. and here's the projected path of this system. it should be just a together the north of hilo. by monday morning, and then it will just strike right over honolulu and then head out by tuesday to the south of the islands there close to 12 inches of rain expected. so it's really going to be a lot of flooding there, not as much wind but more of a heavy rainmake their. tonight, 11:00, the low clouds and fog really moving toward this delta by 5:00 a.m. commute, and then look for all of that to breck back to unear the bay and the coast. so, cooler tomorrow, with those low clouds and mist and drizzle coastside. here's a look at the highs. 77, mortgage gap hill. 77, cooper teen -- cupertino.
