updates-join us tonight at 9:00, and abc7 news at 1178. >> in our other developing story, u.s. embassies across the mid east are being slammed shot shut because of a very active terror threat of al qaeda. they're planning a massive attack somewhere against the u.s. the exact target is unclear. one major worry, explosives surgically implanted inside suicide bombers. homeland security is beefing up prepares at airports and train stations and other travel hubs in the u.s. we're live at sfo. reporter: local authorities are not going into specifics, but the san francisco police department does acknowledge receiving a bulletin from the fbi and the department of home lean security. sfpd says their officers are monitoring various areas of the city and will determine

reflects the sensitivity and seriousness of the situation. abc7 news. >> ama: southern california authorities have arrested a man accused of driving his car into a crowd of people at the boardwalk in venice beach. here's a report on the suspect and the innocent victims. reporter: panic on the boardwalk in venice beach surveillance video showing a car plowing plowing into a crowf people. >> people were flying everywhere. looked like something out of a movie. guy swerving and hitting the people, and there was just traumatizing to see. reporter: the driver in the dark dodge avenger kept on hitting bebeach bowyers, mowing down anybody in this path, injuring 12 people. one victim from italy died. she was on her honeymoon. witnesses say they mayhem was deliberate. >> he was intentionally doing it. hunt honking his horn, just doing 40-miles-an-hour and

hitting people. >> the driver fled the scene. he walked into a police station two hours later. >> detectives have booked nathan campbell for a murder that took place last night. reporter: the surveillance video shows him first parking his car, then walking off and returning minutes later to get back into this car and speed off into a crowd of unsuspecting beachgoers. >> this guy having the sense to create mayhem and massacre a lot of people. >> so far police have declined to discuss a motive but say it was not a terrorist attack. >> ama: a hardware store worker divide from a random act of violence. the man was stabbed in the doorway of oliver's ace hardware on san pablo dam road. the deputies arrested the suspect as he tried to run from the store. investigators are looking for a motive. the victim died at a local trauma center. >> still to come at 6:00,

this morning near highway 101. the hazmat team cleared the area in a few hours. the incident is under investigation. >> a united airlines flight made a forced landing at sfo international because of an engine failure. it landed shortly before 1:00 this morning. 342 passengers and crew were on their way to australia when the number four engine failed. the pilot dumped fuel over the pacific. the passengers will be put on another flight tonight. >> new at 6:00, an american punk rock band was pelted with eggs and tomatoes after using the russian flag as a prop. you can see right there in the youtube video, members of the blood hound gang stuffed the flag in his pants and pulledded out. in an airport lounge they were attacked. the ban apologized saying

as livermore. so, high temperatures today, we did manage 90 degrees in antioch. 85 in fairfield. 84 in livermore. so beautiful there but closer to the bay, and much cooler than average and the winds have been a factor, as well as the marine layer up to 2,000 feet deep. so the fog will be around so the numbers should drop quickly and a little mist and drizzle tomorrow. starting out with gray skies and sunshine, a cool day on the way, and the coolest days of the week yet to come. we have the culprit sitting offshore. tonight, we're counting on mid-50s in palo alto. 55 in richmond. 51 in santa rosa. so tomorrow morning, grab the jacket if your out early. it be cool. the fog will burn back to the shoreline but the see breeze from 15 to 25 miles-per-hour, allowing for the temperatures to stay anywhere from five to eight

degrees from where we should be this time of year. so low pressure has been hanging off the coast, and it will dive down just about over the bay area throughout the middle of the work week and that's going to bring cooler temperatures, maybe the risk of a thunderstorm in the sierra nevada, once we get behind the system by friday, saturday, and next weekend, we should warm up to more average readings. tomorrow, very little change. san jose, 75. morgan hill, 9. milpitas, 7 2. 74 in mountain view. 58 in pacifica. san francisco, once again, afternoon sun, 62. breezy. north bay, numbers here, plenty on upper 60s. we should see low 80s in santa rosa. 72 tomorrow in sonoma. 72 in vallejo. castro valley, 70. heading inland, pretty nice afternoon. low 80s here. 84 in livermore, and brentwood tomorrow in the

"smurfs 2" debuted in third, 18 million. "the conjuring" came in fourth to help it top 100 million, which is he can rebel for a horror movie.
