shooting. kira? >>guest: it is a tragic scene this morning. family understandably distraught right here near us. i spoke with the grandmother of the victim. he and his one-year-old son were shot and killed inside their bedroom. she says part of her is gone this morning. they were going back home to fresno today and unfortunately that will never happen. the shooting happened at 2:35. people shot from the back of the house and they accessed behind the home and shot into the home. the 20-year-old man, andrew thomas, and his one-year-old baby, drew, are dead. police have no leads. they have no suspect information. they are canvassing the neighborhood at 98th avenue. they have many blocks, blocked off but they have no one in

bus to arrive this morning around 5:15. supervisor said it will pick up around 6:00 at the terminal can this is possible becausedown officials and a.c. transit management came to an agreement at 11:00 an hour before worker could have gone on strike. officials say the agreement gives 1,400 bus drivers and workers a 9.5 percent raise over three years but they have to contribute to medical benefits. negotiations started back in march. >> a long process, longer than either of us wanted but just because the issues were difficult. in the end, both sides are happy with the result. a.c. transit union members have to approve the deal. this is a big deal because 180,000 people use a.c. transit each weekday to get around here in the bay area.

now the bart strike averted. a board of inquiry will hear from budget sides examining where contract talks stand and how a strike would impact the bay area. governor brown wants to see the report by friday. recycling workers are planning a protest over a rat infast station. waste management employees say they come in close contact with rodents each day and one habitten. they will rally in oakland starting at 11:00 this morning the second protest in a week. >> happening today, san francisco district attorney and new york ton general will announce london's mayor will be joining their efforts to stop the subject of stolen smartphones. they have been urging smartphone makers to create a "kill" switch

to render them useless if stolen. last month, security experts were brought in to san francisco to test apple and samsung's newest anti-theft features. london mayor johnson is joining their efforts and will serve as an international representative for the initiative. he plans to meet with others in september. >> in marin county, voteers will decide if they want to pay a higher sales tax. the town council has voted in favor placing half cent sales tax increase on the november ballot. if approached, the sales tax would be in effect if six years. officials say the town is facing $11.5 million in long term debt. the sales tax is now 8.5 percent and goes up to 9 percent if approved by voters. in hair, three internet cafes where customers can gamble online, will stay open.

the city is facing a set back to close the controversial cafes. in february the council passed a moratorium shutting down the cafes but a federal court ruled the city's moratorium could not be enforced because it was overly broad. the city staff members are now work on a new ordinance. >> the high-speed rail roth hit a snag, two lawmakers are asking forren a audit to investigate how the rail authority is buying land. republican patterson from fresno says they want to ensure land owners can appeal appraisals before imminent domain proceedings begin. if john they received a grandparent light on acquiring hundreds of parcels of prime farmland. the high-speed rail project will go from san diego to the bay area and sacramento and lawmakers' request is heard later this morning. >> the historic department store building in downtown oakland has a new owner sold for $9.8 million to the deve the oaklandr
