good thursday morning, everyone. we'll get the winning powerball details in a minute. crews have been working through the night, battling a new and fast-moving wildfire. >> it's out of control in banning, california. that's in the desert, east of l.a., near palm springs. >> this fire surged to 6,000 acres. and we're seeing the damage as at least 15 homes have burned to the ground. hundreds of people have been evacuated. abc's cecilia vega is on the fire line for us. >> reporter: home after home went up in flames as this raging inferno, 85 miles east of los angeles, burns out of control. >> as the wind pushes it, as we panned earlier over to that. as it moves to the east, it will continue to do that as the wind pushes it that way, with the fuel and the topography. >> reporter: the fire has consumed several thousand acres. and last night, firefighters conceded there was no containment. >> depending on what the wind does, it can actually change

direction, as the cooling starts and starts moving the opposite direction. and as we move to that, we're -- we definitely will have a different firefight on our hands. >> reporter: mandatory evacuations went into effect last night for several communities in harm's way. emergency shelters were set up in riverside county, for anyone needing a place to spend the night. >> we could go the 243. the fire had crossed over. >> when i left, i was backing out of my house. and there was flames all around my car. >> reporter: several hundred firefighters are involved in this fierce battle. helicopters and special aircraft tankers are trying to tackle the inferno, as this all-night fight heads into the early morning hours and beyond. cecilia vega, abc news, los angeles. >> cecilia will have more on "gma." now, to our other major story. a much happier one. that giant powerball jackpot. we've learned overnight that three winning tickets are out there.

manhunt is under way for james dimaggio, who authorities say kidnapped 16-year-old hannah anderson, following a deadly confrontation at his southern california home sunday, that ended in this inferno. hannah's father made this plea to dimaggio, someone he had considered a family friend. >> let my daughter go. you've taken everything else. hannah, we all love you very much. if you have a chance, you take it. you run. >> reporter: amid the ashes, detectives found the body of hannah's mother, christina, along with the remains of a child, close friends believe is hannah's 8-year-old brother, ethan. however, authorities have not officially identified the remains. >> i'm fearful of hannah not coming home alive. >> reporter: angelina says that the children knew dimaggio as uncle jim. but that recently, hannah voiced concerns about dimaggio. >> i know hannah did say she was

details. >> good morning. both sides are very far apart about what they want in a contract and are $100 million dollars apart. the panel they presented yesterday was appointed by governor brown and the board of inquiry listened to five hours of testimony from bart management and from the unions representing bart workers about why they have been at this gas for so long. at issue is salary, benefits and pension. the request for higher employee benefit contributions forces them into a zero game contract. bart management says that the latest offer is 9 percent raise over four years is fair. abart is asking the employees to play a larger role in sharing the cost of their generous pension. >> everything they have done since april is to
