>> good morning. both sides are very far apart about what they want in a contract and are $100 million dollars apart. the panel they presented yesterday was appointed by governor brown and the board of inquiry listened to five hours of testimony from bart management and from the unions representing bart workers about why they have been at this gas for so long. at issue is salary, benefits and pension. the request for higher employee benefit contributions forces them into a zero game contract. bart management says that the latest offer is 9 percent raise over four years is fair. abart is asking the employees to play a larger role in sharing the cost of their generous pension. >> everything they have done since april is to delay, stall,

and impede the barring aning process. >> the board will deliver a written report to governor brown by the end of the week and the governor will decide whether to call for a 60-day couping off period. that is what bartment wants. they would stop the unions from being able to strike while both sides continue negotiating. will the governor call for the 60-day calling off period? they will run to the bargaining table at 9:00 this morning. >> in southern california, more than 500 firefighters are battling a 6,000 acre island-fire in riverside county. it is burning out-of-control 8 a miles east of los angeles and ten structures have been destroyed sin the flames ignited. ,500 have been evacuated in several small mountain communities and three have been injured including two firefighters. no estimate on when it is expected to be contained.

>> from dallas, texas, a series of shootings left four people dead and four wounds. investigators found two dead in a dallas home and two gunshot victims. the suspect fled to a nearby suburb where he was involved in another shooting the police found four people shot at the second election, two dying. police took a suspect in custody at that location. oakland police say they dedicating of i resource available to catch the gunman who shot into a home killing a father and his one-year-old son. the 20-year-old andrew thomas and his son were sleeping in the morning of a relative yesterday morning when shots rang out. andrew died instantly. his son died at the hospital. the mayor and the police chief spoke outside the city >> this is absolutely unacceptable with children being shot while they sleep in bed.

>> the two were in town for a relative's birthday and extended the stay to extend the funeral of a cousin shot and killed over the weekend. since 2011, five young children have been slot and killed in oakland, two in the last month. >> oakland police are investigating a shooting a mile from that antiviolence media conference. a man was shot and seriously injured on mcarthur boulevard before 9:00 p.m., officers found the man in front of a church and the victim was running from the gunman and the cop friend station began to a parking lot. the victim was hit several times by bullets and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. it is believed the man was targeted with no arrests. >> in san francisco, residents in the mission district will have the opportunity to turn in their guns for cash in an effort to reduce violence. similar gun buyback events are taking place around the bay area

and their representative is donating $75,000 from his discretionary fund to pay for the buy back at 22nd street from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., 100 for regular guns and $200 for assault rifles. >> california risen officials say up to a thousand inmates could be released because of a court order. last week the supreme court upheld a lower court ruling that forces the state to reduce prison populations by 10,000 by year enbecause of dangerous evercrowding. the corrections department plans to transfer most prisoners to private prisons, county jail and other facilities but that leaves a thousand with no place to go. >> richmond community leaders ls and a group of homeowners will branch to banks today to call on them to city the city officer to buy and restructure underwater mortgages. richmond launch add ground breaking new plan to help homeowners who owe more on their

the san mateo union while district to get the advance placement test scores of 224 students re-instated. the board threw out the results of the mills high school students after a student reported that some students were seated in roundtables during the tests and not facing in the same direction as required. the students were closely supervised and they are confident there was no cheating but if the tests are not re-instated the 224 students have to testify l study and take the exam again or be left to take a lower level course when they enter college. >> a new multi-millionaires of the three tickets that matched all the numbers last night in the powerball jackpot. two winners in new jersey and one in minnesota will split the powerball jackpot. it grew to $448 million after last minute ticket purchases. it is the third largest jackpot ever. even if you did not win the big prize, you maybe have matched a
