>> abc7 news starts now with breaking news. >> shots ring out to end a tense stand off in sunnyvale. the s.w.a.t. team surrounds a home after getting a call from a person claiming he killed someone inside. good morning, everyone. >> it appears police have shot and killed the suspect. abc7 news reporter is at scene in sunnyvale. >> kristen, the house is here in sunnyvale right behind me a couple of feet in front of the

patrol cars where you can see some of the law enforcement types, police and others, gathering. we have just learned that police shot and killed the man what was in the house. here is how it began. at 8:00, a person called sunnyvale police saying that he was in the house and that he killed someone. about 45 minutes later a s.w.a.t. truck went to the front lawn. you could see a bunch of s.w.a.t. officers with bullet-proof vests approaching the house and you could hear a voice saying something like, come on out with your hands up. take a listen. police, again, say they have shot and killed the man who was in the house when he approached them with a weapon. police will not say what kind of when he held in his hands. a little while later they said while they were searching the house they found the body of a

woman in the home. they have not released any i.d.'s or names pending notification of next of kin. that is the latest here in sunnyvale. >> bart and the unions are getting back to the bargaining stable a day after the claim that the two sides are nearly $100 million apart trying to reach a new contract. abc7 news reporter kira klapper has the latest from only. kira? >> good morning to you, eric. the board is having a regularly scheduled meeting. they have also called for a special meeting where the negotiators will join them to get a handle on where they stand on their side of negotiations. 30 minutes ago we got video of union negotiators arriving for negotiations today and the contract talks are resuming. yesterday, bart and the unions representing their workers

presented five hours to the board of inquiry. they are at odds other wages, benefits, pension and safety. the board will delivery a written report on the status of the gas do governor brown by friday. the governor will decide whether to call for a 60-day cooling off period meaning unions can not strike, trains will still run, and negotiations will continue. bart management wants the couping off period but union workers do not. both agree they do not want a strike to happen on monday which would be the case if this sunday's deadline is not met somehow. >> everyone is very eager to get back to the table to get to a deal. the next few days will be very telling if there is a lot of movement that will be good progress. if you see a lot of people going in and out of the building with new proposals that is good. all we can do is focus on this year, this week, try to get something done. >> we can get this done by sunday. otherwise, it is the governor extending another 60 days what happens will be what happened

last 30 days. the chief negotiator goes on vacations they do not come to the table and we drag this along. >> as negotiations proceed, bart says the two sides are $100 million apart in the proposals but the union leaders i spoke with morning say they are only $50 million apart. bart is proposing a four year contract and union workers and their representatives are proposing a three-year contract. a lot of issues and anyway you slice it both sides are very far apart. we will follow this. both sides say they are prepared to negotiate through the weekend. >> developing news from washington state, there has been a siting of car wanted in connection with two deaths and a child abduction in southern california. authorities believe that james dimaggio could be traveling to

canada with 15-year-old hannah anderson, a friend says that the 40-year-old man told hannah he had a "crush" on her and authorities have expanded amber alerts to oregon and washington and a driver reported seeing a car matching the blue nissan 40 miles northwest of seattle and there were sightings yesterday in oregon and california. the bodies of her mother and an unidentified child were found sunday evening in a burned out hoax owned by dimaggio. the second body could be that of hannah's 8-year-old brother. >> fremont police are asking for your help to track down a driver who injured a bicyclist and drove off. the bicyclist was unconscious with life-threatening injuries when struck in the bicycle lane on fremont boulevard near old warm springs boulevard. witnesses saw a dark-colored 1995 toyota possibly a camry, driving south toward grimmer boulevard after the crash after 6:00 a.m. and fremont boulevard

reopened an hour ago. anyone with in fact about the car or driver is urged to contact fremont police. >> transient found naked outside a milpitas church is in jail facing felony vandalism charges. police say he went on a rampage smashing church property after arguing with his girlfriend. look at damage at st. john's church. the police photos show destroyed statute and candle holders and lengthers and the damage found inside and outside adds up to $20,000. the suspect is 30-year-old was booked for felony church vandalism. no explanation why he was naked when police caught him. >> whatting now, livermore police are looking for the owner of an injured dog with a severe legg wound. he is a photo of the young german shepard. the legg is severely mangled with exposed bones. he will need surgery. officers discovered the dog in the spring town area on monday morning. he was wearing this leather

>> the wildfire burning in the hills of riverside county scorched 10,000 acres and several homes. hundreds have been evacuated. firefighters are struggling to get a line around it. the fire is burning 85 miles east of los angeles. we have the latest from the area >> this is a look at the damage here. this is one of the destroyed homes. you will see this was a deck. no more. the house collapsed on itself when the fire moved through. a lot of the patio furniture is destroyed. this is not the only home. if you pan to the right, the next house over was also destroyed. you will notice off in the

distance, though, there are several other homes that made it. this fire is literally picking homes at random, picking which homes to destroy. unfortunately, we have a lost footage of other homes destroyed i have counted at least six homes on in road at twin pines, destroyed. homes desteroid. vehicles destroyed. sheds destroyed. people do not know what did do. i spoke to a man two hours ago and he told me he watched his house burn to the ground yesterday and he can replace the belongings he is worried about his wife to be he is supposed to be married on saturday on his property that was torched and he doesn't know where her wedding gown is. i spoke to a woman who told me she doesn't know if her property is still standing and she is worried about her belongings and medication and a family member. >> it is terrible. i didn't sleep last night. i slept for an hour but that is

>> just the messenger, i know. i know. >> i don't even know how to respond. >> so sorry, so sorry, now, it has been gloomy and rough driving to work the last couple of morning and one more morning will be wet, monday through friday, and saturday morning, possibly drizzle but tomorrow is probably the last best shot of measurable drizzle like this morning. we are looking dry on live doppler 7 hd so we will head up to the north and you can see the showers and the bolt lightning and that is where we are looking at the possibility of some fires being started by the thunderstorms out there that are pretty dry. that means the lightning is coming out of them but the rain usually evaporates before it frees the ground. up to the border with oregon and east to the border with nevada you can see a chance of dry thunderstorms and a high fire danger. we will look at what is going on at home with the visible satellite you can see the clear along the coast and the clouds are trying to evaporate ever so

slowly around the bay and i think they will keep going that the next couple of hours and you can see the sunshine out the longest at at confront, at 71 and san jose and los gatos and napa at 68 and concord and oakland and san carlos at 66, and san francisco at 60, and mountain view at 68 and this is how it looks at the golden gate bridge, picture-esque so sunshine is evolving so we will be below average because of the pretty strong sea breeze we are still working with. mild tonight, more drizzle for the commute, and summer warmth is in the forecast and still in the later part of the seven-day forecast. today even with the sunshine we still are from five- to ten-degrees cooler than we should be for this time of the year. we will start in 9 south bay at 74 at san jose, a lost low-to-mid 70's in the valley, and now, the peninsula, low-to-mid 70's and upper 60's

in san mateo and the coast has low 60's everywhere, to mid-60's in downtown, south san francisco, and sausalito, and low-to-mid 70's in the north bay valley and 10 or 15 degrees cooler at the beaches and from 63 in richmond, 66 in oakland, to accident in castro valley and the cool pot is san ramon at 72 and everyone else in the midtown more 70's. a day game is a thursday game that started monday, and 62 degrees, and 64 by the end of the game but if you are headed to the niners and broncos game dress for temperatures in the 50's at candle tick and maybe drizzle to the end of the game. everyone is in the 50's again and we are still watching the slow, still tracking the thing, it is wobbling about, and as long as that is hanging around we going to have the flow of moisture into our neighborhood and that is beginning to keep us moist with drizzle in the morning and cooler-than-average law saturday, possibly through sunday and the area of low pressure backs to us and that
