public are addressed in a serious way. >> and bart management said the unions didn't like the raise that was offered. >> i think a 10% wage is more than fair to our employees, so i think we had a good confidence level in the offer we made. it is regrettable they chose not to accept it. >> they all walked away after spending two hours with the mediator. they all say no progress was made today. so everyone is in the cooling off period that was requested by governor jerry brown and ordered by a san francisco superior court judge. >> go ahead and sign what is in affect a final injunction lasting 60-days. >> the bart trains will keep running and the negotiators will keep talking. bart riders are hoping not to see a repeat of the standoff when the court order expires. >> it is great that the strike is not happening. they can't keep pushing things like that. >> the bart managers and the union say they do not see eye to eye on a deal. >> i think 10% is a fair increase and the system does

their keen observations helped save the life of a missing teen. john muller has the new details. >> 16-year-old hannah anderson is being reunited with her father sunday night, exactly one week after her kidnapper allegedly killed her brother and mother in a house near san diego and then torched it. the teenager is safe thanks to four alert horseback riders in idaho. on wednesday they crossed paths with anderson and her abductor, james dimaggio. >> she kind of had a scared look on her face when i come up the trail. when i turned and talked to him a little bit i just had a gut feeling about him. >> that something was very wrong, a suspicion confirmed by a tv news report one day later. >> the news flashed on. an amber alert was on the television and i told my wife, that is that girl we seen on the mountain. >> they called police. a possee of 200 law enforcement officers jumped into action. a plane spotted the fugitive

and his kidnapped victim. they dropped from a blackhawk helicopter and hiked for more than two hours closing in on the suspect. the fbi will not say what happened next. except that dimaggio was given every chance to surrender before he was shot. hannah was safely rescued thanks to a group of outdooren enthusiasts who sensed she might be in danger. >> for us to be there at the precise time to interact with them is one chance in a trillion . >> new at 11:00, there is a memorial tonight in san jose at the site where two teenagers died in a car accident. the memorial next to a tree and was sheared off in the accident. five teenage boys were in the car that hit the tree just before midnight. 19-year-old fabian perez died at the scene and 16-year-old salvador fernandez died at the hospital and the three other teens are in critical condition.

this year outside lands ended three hours ago as they streamed out of golden gate park. it started on friday with paul mccartney and wrapped up tonight with the red-hot chilly peppers. red-hot chili peppers. and some people found a creative way to get in. john alston is live with this story. john? >> 65,000 people enjoyed the music here. no serious trouble reported. but police did hand out citations for those who tried to see the whole thing for free by scaling the fence like it was a prison break. there is apparently nothing worse than being outside the outside lands music festival. this has become one way to see a show. all day police and security guards tried to catch people going over, around and through fences one at a time and in large groups. >> they don't run. they slide right under the fence. it has been amazing. this isn't just a job. it is an adventure.

>> she had to chase off some people who seemed extremely interested in testing the chain link barrier. others were temporarily successful. >> on the other side once they break in, this is the police compound. when they get to the top the police officers are looking like really? >> the big finale was a performance by the red-hot chili peppers on the polo field. there was darrell hall and john oats and willie nelson. a number of people who thought they had tickets got burned. it came off craigs list. he came from san diego and he is now $220 lighter. >> it is an intense moment. to be at the door and to not be getting in, we don't like that. >> jennie from chico lost $250 on a ticket she found. >> didn't seem sketchy at all. bought it from the guy. $250. come here the first day and the tickets don't scan and they say refunded.

and so the guy sold them to us and sold them to multiple people. >> despite the disappointments, they say it was a generally tame event. 234* san francisco, john alston, abc7 news. sky watchers were in place to see the perseid meteor shower, but the weather disrupted the view. the space center in oakland was one places offering a view. the folks were all set for shooting stars when the fog rolled in. one man did assure us that the meteors aren't dangerous. >> because they are very tiny they have happened for thousands of years and they are a tiny little rock that will burn up in the atmosphere and the earth will be fine. >> the best time foreseeing the perseids is right now through tomorrow night. and abc7 news meteorologist leigh glaser joins us now. leigh, where it is best place to look for the meteor shower tonight? >> do did you see all the fog racing in? i will tell you the best location is away from city

lights and mainly in the east bay and the north bay locations. you can see live doppler 7hd is showing you a wall of fog that has already starting to move inland near the coast as well as the bay and heading over toward oakland right now and berkeley hills and even southern marin county. so it is going to be a foggy start tomorrow as well. the east bay we are looking clear right now. here is a look at some of our highs. a warming trend began today. we still had 50s at the coast and more warming tomorrow. we will take a look at those numbers coming up. smoke jumpers are in action in the tahoe national forest to help a brushfire that has grown to 800 acres. the fire is burning in a remote area from auburn to lake tahoe. officials say flames are burning on steep terrain on deadwood ridge. the silver fire has burned more than 30 square miles in riverside county since it broke out on wednesday. the fire is now 90% contained. 12 people including 11 firefighters have been hurt.

the flames festroyed 26 homes and 22 other buildings in the san jacinto mountains. crews believe they will have this fire fully contained in the angeles national forest. right now it is 75% contained. the sharp fire has burned 163 acres. firefighters faced tough conditions because the fire is burning along steve heavily wooded hillsides. closing arguments will begin in the alphabet killer murder trial. the case dates back decades. all four victims have first names and last names that begin with the same letter. investigators arrested naso after finding foe -- photos in his room. they said a bowl of soup may have saved her life. >> still to come on abc7 news at 11, $40 for a bottle of water? who is paying big to get hydrated. the first payout for the victims of the asiana flight 214, how much they are getting and what the airline is

asiana airlines plans to give $10,000 to every survivor on board the flight that crashed at sfo. three died and hundreds others survived the crash.

the money will cover medical expenses and other unexpected costs for the survivors of flight 214. the passengers can still sue the korean carrier after taking the money. an asiiana flight to san francisco will have a new number. they retired flight 214. the new number will be 212. airlines often retire flight numbers after a disaster as way to ease passenger worries. a florida pet store owner hopes surveillance video helps capture a man who stole two puppies by stuffing them in his pants. you can see a man placed a pug puppy in his pants and then leave the orlando store yesterday. he then returned and took a main main -- a miniature datchund puppy. a new weapon tonight catching thieves off guard. it is a crime-fighting chemical spray that leaves an incriminating stain on skin and clothing. abc news reporter geo benitez shows us how it works. >> it is the myth that marks

the crook. tls the spray that -- it is the spray used in an undercover set up with an odorless paint that can only be spotted with a uv black light. it is called small water csi. just last month detectives equiped a decoy car with a spray at a south florida parking garage. an alleged burglar taking the bait. >> he opened the door. he grabbed something on the front seat and then he starts to rifle through a wallet and that is when the agent sprays him. >> he was marked. a judge mentioned it in court. >> they examined him with the black light and detected he had smart water on his clothing and skin. >> the chemical can last for years on clothing. police are using it in stipgs. store owners are using the spray as a booby-trap over their doors. and anyone who wants to protect their valuables like a watch or iphone can mark them with the paint. if stolen and found, the

dna-like fingerprint on the chemicals can help police find the owner. it has lead to uh -- a lot of convictions worldwide. >> yes. there have been 1200 convictions in the uk and europe over the 12 17 years. >> they are developing similar chemicals, but it is so new to the u.s., law enforcement agencies are just now looking into how it can be used to fight crime. abc news, new york. some diners experienced a little sticker shock when glancing at a wine list. now a restaurant in los angeles is selling bottled water for big bucks. the 45-page menu features 20 waters from 10 countries. the most expensive bottle of water cost $40 and comes from here in california. promoters call it, quote, the champagne of waters. tonight tech websites are predicting apple will debut their next iphone next month. september 10th could be the launch day of the new

iphone. they usually launch in september. the new phone is said to have a fingerprint reader for security and camera and faster components. facebook ceo carol sandburg has more cash. sandburg sold millions of theirs last week worth $91 million. sandburg sold the stock as part of a prearranged trading plan that allows executives to cash in without being accused of insider trading. for our first check on weather tonight, let's get to leigh glaser. >> and the skies are going crazy. the perseid meteor shower is going on right now. the best viewing though is after midnight through early monday morning. you can see it if you are near the bay shoreline or even the coast. not great viewing as the low clouds and fog are moving in and reducing visibility there. the east bay locations, south bay and even in the north bay they are reporting clear skies now. it will remain close for the next couple hours before the

fog and the patchy low clouds move in those locations as well. a live shot rooftop cam and embarcadero san francisco and current reading san francisco 55. oakland you are at 57. mountain view, san jose and los gatos, another shot from the emeryville cam. looking out over a hazy sky over the bay there. the low clouds continue to move inland and napa is at 56. 62 in fairfield and novato 59. cooling down there. livermore 61 and this is what we are talking about the golden gate bridge. that fog layer or the cloud deck is lowering as the high pressure is building in. what it is doing is getting us the sinking air and it is being pushed toward the surface. that's why we had the dense fog earlier in the day and it didn't move much. a warmer day for your monday and then the warming trend will be with us through tuesday and wednesday.

our lows are like yesterday morning in the midto upper 50s with the fog and the low clouds reaching out toward the delta. in fact, 11:00 tonight you will notice this is a pretty good fog forecast pattern for you. you can see in the overhead hours it pushes inland. this is 5:00 a.m. commute time tomorrow. we could have slow downs at sfo airport. numerous delays this morning. much will pull back off the coast and will start to warm up. the air mass is pushed to the north of us as the higher pressure, a fair weather maker from the east will back up toward the west. this will be our warming mechanism for the next few days. the warming really will begin tomorrow. the week ahead, livermore, your average high, good example here 89. 87 tomorrow. by wednesday it looks to be the warmest day. you will kick in to about 90 degrees and even san jose will enjoy temperatures in the mid to low 80s as we head toward wednesday and thursday.

in the final round of the pga championship. jason dufner and jim furyk. dufner was the underdog and rose to the occasion and losing the memory of the -- of losing the same event. these two were in the final group at the country club. furyk started in the lead and then dufner gets the lead at 10 under. furyk has one title and tied for the lead with this birdie on 6 and bottom of the major. dufner's iron play was stellar. he would retake the lead within a foot of the hole for another birdie. dufner shows not a lot of emotion on the court. he was as calm as ever. on 16 he does it again. sends his approach back and a short birdie putt and he is up three. but furyk made his at two with two to play. he has a chance. dufner on 18 and same putt for

i'm ama dates. in tonight's headlines, a judge ordered a cooling off period in bart's labor dispute. that will keep the trains rolling for 60-days, but the two sides reported no movement at the bargaining table. talks broke off early this evening and no new date has been set. police trying to figure out what caused a crash that killed three teenagers and two others are in critical condition. a car carrying five boys hit a tree late last night. family and friends gathered for a memorial at the crash scene this evening. the red-hot chili peppers helped close the festival in golden gate park this evening. the festival sold out months ago after the lineup of performers was revealed. new details and dramatic video tonight from the flash floods in colorado this weekend. two of the three people reported missing from mudslides caused by the flooding have been found safe. and then there is this 70-year-old man on the right of your screen trying to get out of his car as the water

diplomatic posts closed during the terror threat and are opening back up tonight. consulates will be fully operational in a few days. the u.s. embassy in yemen remains closed because of intercepted messages between al-qaeda operatives. tonight a doctor in detroit is in jail accused of miss diagnosing cancer patients and giving them treatments they didn't need. government prosecutors say he gave his patients chemotherapy when it was not needed and submitted false claims for tens of millions of dollars. one man said when his father didn't respond to the chemo they gave it to him anyway. >> they were giving him transfusions in the parking garage area. what kind of practice is that? >> to know a doctor could have potentially brought your death on sooner is sickening. >> the government hasn't proven ?ig. proven anything. if convicted he faces 20 years in prison. >> a bit of a break at the gas pump. experts say this may just be

the beginning. the average price of a gallon of gas has fallen 8 cents over the past two weeks. the national average is now $3.56 a gallon. surprises are expected to drop another dime by fall. in california it is $3.90 a gallon. the afnlg of $3.97 a gallon which is down 5 cents from last week. on the waters of lake mare rete today there was a fierce competition. it was the oakland dragon boat festival. it is a team paddling sport and may have started 2,000 years ago, but the sport is just now taking off. >> it has grown enormously in the last 10 or 15 years. it is it the fastest growing sport. it is a well kept secret. we don't want anybody to know. it is in every country. almost every state has a dragon boat. >> the weekend festival featured boat and club races. the winners will advance to the championships next year.

scheduled to begin this week in the trial of a 79-year-old man charged with a decade's old slaying of four women in northern california. joseph naso wrapped up his defense on friday. he told the judge he will not testify. he called five witnesses, one a former model who had a close encounter with naso27 years ago. tonight she tells her story in an exclusive interview with the i team reporter dan noyes. >> monique didn't rb joe

naso's name or their photo session in her sausalito home in 1986. but police found pictures of her in naso's reno home along with photos of other women he is accused of killing. he is facing four counts of murder and is expected in several other deaths. >> they tell me who he was, what he did. it was a shock. i did not realize i was so close. >> naso is accused of belong the alphabet killer, of murdering women with first and last names with the same letter. when she answered naso's ad for models she used denita as her first name. >> at first she was nice and friendly and professional and then he changed. >> she said he was more demanding and gruff during the photo shoot, especially after she refused to pose in socks with holes that he brought with him. >> i did not think of serial killer at the time, but i knew

off the stand and asked if he could keep the photographs. the judge said no they are evidence and he said i'll send you some. >> naso's court appointed advisory council. >> one view is that he is grand standing or being inappropriate. another view is he is an older gentleman. he is 79 years old, and he is being folksy. >> he sent a message from naso. jay he wanted to convey -- >> he wanted to convey to you that he is happy he is going to trial and he has the ability to defend himself. >> for the i team, dan noyes, abc7 news. a new building in spain is turning out to be quite an embarassment for the builders. the new 47-floor tempo skyscraper is the tallest residential building in the european union. the problem? there is no elevator past the 20th floor. the original design had 20 floors, but it was later upgraded to 47.

the project got behind schedule and in a rush to finish somebody forgot to complete the elevator to the rest of the building. now one last check of the weather. >> live doppler 7hd right now is picking up the low clouds and a bit of fog and mist and drizzle. all of this will move back in and a little bit of a widespread tomorrow morning. the good news is it should burn back to the coast a little sooner. sunshine, warmer temperatures. it will be hot in dallas. 100 degrees. you add in the humidity at 90% and it is going to be muggy. new orleans 89 with scattered thunderstorms. you will see the thunderstorms from atlanta and washington, d.c. and all the way up to new york city. new york tomorrow is 81. denver 85 and 95 salt lake city and in california we are going to look for some warm temperatures to hot temperatures in palm springs. rebounding to 107, 103 las vegas. fresno, no more 80s, but warming back up to 97 degrees.

just trying to field a winning team. they have a lot of holes to fill on both sides of the ball. even though it is pre-season, the players want a win and the players accomplished that on friday against tony romo and the cowboys who already had a game under their belt. they admitted there is still a lot of work to go, but that's what the four games are for in the pre-season. in training camp the players hit each other every day, so it was great to get out and hit another team and play competitive football. alan was very happy playing in front of the raider nation. >> it was a great environment for us to play in. i thought there was a lot of excitement in the stands. that was a good thing. listen, you develop habits every time you go out there. winning is a habit, and that's one of the things we are trying to focus on with this team. we want to develop that habit. >> raiders are in new orleans for friday's game.

jason dufner won the pga championship by 2 strokes over jim furyk with a final round 2 under par 68. plenty of action and i thought we would look at the good, bad and ugly which golf always seems to hand out. 8 over for the tournament and best round this afternoon. drains a long birdie putt on the fifth hole and even par on the day. phil mickelson at one p so int was 14 over but check out the chip on 11. hits the flag stick and he won the british open. tim clark the shot of the day. hole in one is always special. to have one in a major is sweeter. par 311th and two quick bounces and in. even though he didn't win it he will be talking about that forever. from the best to the worst. florida state alum nighs making his major debut playing with tiger woods no less and doing what i would do on the course. his chip goes way past the hole and rolls down the green and oh know that is going -- oh no that is going into the water.

he made tiger's round look good. he did it again here on 9. oleson one under for the day. this guy must love the beach. tiger woods final chance to win his first major in five years and can't make the simple putts. birdie on 6. not even close. he will have to wait until augusta in april for another chance at a major title. jim furyk has one major title the 2003 u.s. open. he was in the hunt to the final two holes and a birdie here on 6. 43-year-old with a nice run. jason dufner our winner on 16. he was just money all day. he sends it back and makes that for birdie. 2 under 68. taps in for the win. here on 18 and he just misses that. his wife amanda. jason dufner and the first time winner of a major and earning the trophy. joy the only time he has seen
