getting dangerous and 1.5 mile in half moon bay. temperatures today will be close to average, near normal day with 63 at half moon bay and 68 in san francisco and upper 70's to mid-80's for the bay and upper 80's in the north bay and even 90's in the east bay valley. now the commute this morning, leyla gulen? >> we have clear conditions across much of the bay area but a buildup of congestion in the usual places including antioch and the altamont pass. we have a sig-alert east palo alto northbound 101 on university avenue. it turns into a signature aleft, a solo vehicle spinout and they trying to rescue the person in the car. there is spectator slowing to san jose. now this drive coming across the bay bridge as you head into san francisco, toward treasure island, you can see a little bit of slowing headed into the tunnel and it clears up when you

make it to the city side and as we head to our camera, we will look at that and that is the golden gate bridge with cones being picked up and southbound side is moving swiftly. >> this is the day to find out once and for all what the new eastern span of the bay bridge opening day will be. abc7 news reporter matt keller joins us with more. >> a public hearing is scheduled later this morning and the oversight committee will vote and announce the opening day for the new east were span. financial officials signed off on a temporary fix for cracked bolts involving inserting steel plates in the gaps under the deck costing an extra $1 million. the scheduled labor day opening has been in jeopardy. a new bridge shows steel saddles cost an extra $10 or $20 million.

police with a knife and she shot and killed him in self against. they could not say whether more than one officer shot but they say that because of the situation they sent quite a bit of backup. >> the dispatchers could hear the loud violence going on in the background, the screams and the yelling. we sent in multiple units and i don't know or give you an exact number how many officers were on the scene. >> police say the man was 37 years old and not releasing his name. his wife and his two daughters are physically okay. a police spokesman said he is not sure of the ages of the girl, between ten and 12. they got the call to come to hayward at this home. a spokesman said the officer who shot the man is a veteran. he would not release details. the officer has been put on paid leave which is standard.

abc7 news reporter is at the scene with the latest. >> kristen, there were two kids inside home at the time of shooting and they are at the police station being interviewed. officers say it was the 12-year-old girl who lived at the home who called 9-1-1 and told dispatchers her father was threatening to kill her mother. he had a knife. officers say when they got here he lunged at the officers with the knife and the girl was still on the phone when it happened and police were inside the apartment when they say he lunged at the police, and an officer shot and killed him. >> the officers responds in the incident in defense of their life. what we know is that is what occurred 789. >> police got the call at 9:30 20 come to the apartments here in hayward. they say they are still
