>> good morning, everyone. isolates 5:00 a.m.. i'm katie marzullo. so glad you could be with us this morning. good morning, lisa. >> good morning. cooler temperatures in the north bay. in the 50s. as you head outside, not only are we cool here but we are looking at coastal low fog and clouds. numbers in the 50s up in the north bay to the mid-60s down around san carlos. 60 hayward, and low clouds and fog to start. but throughout the morning hours that burns back quickly and we are in store for another warm day around the bay. but today not the warmest day of the weekend. numbers rank from the low 60s to patchy fog half moon bay to upper 80s inland. similar to what we saw yes.

we are looking at temperatures throughout the evening hours pretty comfortable. the fog rolls back in, but we will get warmer tomorrow. near 100 degrees inland. i'll let you know how long that will stick around. but we also have thunderstorms to talk about, as well. >> interesting. thank, lisa. we have breaking new. one person is dead and at least four others injured this morning following a shooting in east oakland. it happened just after 11:00 last night on 105th avenue. authorities say five ambulances were requested, but one person died at the scene. the other victims were taken to the hospital in critical condition. there's no word at this time on suspects or arrests, but we will bring you more on the story as the information becomes available. developing news. authorities are investigating what led to a police shooting and motorcycle crash that shut down a highway in the east bay. it happened around 4:00 yesterday afternoon on highway 24 on both sides of the caldecott tunnell. a chp officer was investigating a hit-and-run neither we'ller

road exit when he spotted a silver honda with front end damage and no license plates. at some point he fired at the driver of the car. the authorities won't say what led to the shooting or if it's connected to a fiery motorcycle crash that happened earlier near the broadway accident in oakland. >> how serious was he injured. >> serious to be transported to the hospital. i don't have the status of his condition. >> as for the person shot,fs taken to the medical his condition not knowing. >> a building will be destroyed on warren haul on the csu campus. >> every morning when kirk deyoung leaves his house, warren hall is right there. >> when i first moved there, it was kind of an eyesore. i've gotten used to it. you have the nice, gorgeous meadow, hillside, beautiful

trees, and then -- >> the 40-year-old tower will be gone. warren hall was built along a fault and was deemed the most seismically unsafe building in the cal state system. it has been abandoned for two years. >> we will set up lawn chairs and video cameras and have friends over. >> people have been buzzing around the neighborhood look for the best vantage point. they snapped pictures on the tower that first opened in 1971. inside crews used jack hammers and blow torches to soften the structure. 450 pounds of explosives will be used to make the building lean and collapse on itself. >> we expect -- it's about a 10 to 12-second event. it will be go from the 13-story tower to 30-foot high pile of debris. >> for those look to watch. down the hill will offer the best and safest ran taj point.

highway 20. the double fire started just before 6:00 last night and has burned about 60 acres. firefighters are concerned it could grow to several hundred acres. high voltage power lines are down in the area, making it more dangerous for firefighters. the fire is 10% contained. the fourth service has ordered an emergency closer for portions of the forest. it has burned nearly 10,000 acres since it erupted a week ago. it was burning 10 miles northeast of forest hill. it's 31% contained. heavy smoke is blanketing parts of the foothills, reno and lake tahoe. the man accused of murdering four women decades ago is scheduled to continue delivering his closing arguments in a marin county courtroom. the 9-year-old joseph naso is representing himself in the murder trial. yesterday he claimed the case against him is weak. he told jurors to ignore the evidence presented by the

prosecutors saying even the dna evidence is inconclusive. the judge scolded him five times for miss representing evidence and bringing up things not presented in the trial. steven clark said it was one of the most bizarre things he's seen in court. >> what he's trying to do in his closing argument is of it. he did not of it during the trial, which he would have been subject to cross-examination. so what he's doing now is trying to introduce evidence that was not brought in in the trial in his closing argument. >> naso told the judge he had an hour to 90 minutes left to go on his closing arguments. when he's done, prosecutors will present their rebuttal and then the jury will go into deliberation. if convicted, naso could get the death penalty. >> palo alto police have released sketches of men they say robbed a man who had a child with him. it happened thursday night in robe else park behalf 9:00. one had a knife and the other had a handgun. the two suspects demanded his property. even though he hand it had all

over, the suspect punched him in the face and cut his arm. of the child was not hurt. a judge revoked parole for a man police say is a person of interest in the federal investigation of federal investigator sandra coke. the man has a restraining order preventing him from contacting sandra coke. they believe the ambulance with her on the night the 50-year-old disappeared. coke's body was found in a park near vacaville eight days ago. sandra coke's money has created a fund to raise money for her teenage daughter. they hope to raise $100,000 to raise money to provide care for the teenager. full like to donate go to the link on our web page. the owners of a dog who attacked a boy are speaking out. the family lives next door to the young victim. they met reporter nick smith at

a local park but did not want to be identified on camera. they said hunter was at her home soliciting her son. her two-year-old pit bull, jewels, jumped on hunter after he fell on the stairs. she's grief stricken and praying for hunter. >> we are sorry it happened. he with would not intentionally hurt this child in any way. really hard, and i worry about my family's safety and people judges us because of the fact we are pit bull owners. >> jewels is being held in an animal control shelter and will be put down next week. hunter has undergone two surgeries and is recovering at the u.c. davis medical center. courtney's own son was bitten on the arm trying to pull the pit bull away from hunter. we any the cause of death of a marin county woman who was body was found in sequoia matt park last week. she died from cardiac arrest. altitude and exertion were

another warm day in san francisco. she will have the full forecast come up in just a few moments. three months after a horrific limo fire on the san mateo bridge we learned the findings of the criminal investigation. five women died when they couldn't get out of that limo. abc7 news reporter vic lee has the story you will only see on abc7 news. >> reporter: the chp wanted to see if anyone was criminally negligent. they focused on the driver, orville brown, and the owner of the limousine company. sources tell us at the end of july the chp decided there was no evidence to press criminal charges against the two men. then suddenly brown's estranged wife said publicly that the two argued on his cell phone shortly before the fire as he was driving. >> i'm sure he could have saved them, you know. but he was on the phone. >> she charged that her husband was playing music too loudly and

not paying attention. when her media interview surfaced, investigators renewed their robe of brown to see if he was too distracted to react quickly to the emergency. sources tell abc7 news the chp reviewed his cell phone records and determined that he had not been on the phone with his wife during the fire, and that there was no other evidence to charge him criminally. the chp's conclusion is that the tragic incident was the result of a mechanical failure. the stretched limousine burt into flames on the san mateo bridge on the night of may 4th the fire killed five women. four others survived by crawling out of a narrow opening to the driver's compartment. this cell phone video shows the fire started in the rear of the limo. witnesses say the back of the lincoln town car was extremely low to the ground while it was traveling across the bridge. sources with knowledge of the probe told us that the air springs, called balloons, in the rear of the limo somehow

deflated, setting off a domino effect that led to the fire. this man manages a garage that services limousines. he explains what most likely happened when the balloons failed. >> these are air springs. they aren't even air shocks. air springs and they carry the weight of the car. one has a rupture on it, the whole car drops down to basically almost on the tire so the car with the weight, it bounced down too hard and ended up hitting the gas tank, which is right in this spot here. it might have hit the gas tank and then you see when it hit the ground it will create a spark. >> and that spark likely ignited the fire. rick lee, abc7 news. in egypt the muslim brotherhood said a son of it's spiritual leader has been killed in fierce clashes in downtown cairo. he's one of more than 80 people killed yesterday. number killed this week has reached a staggering 700. muslim brotherhood angry their

a structure 8 1/4 miles long. >> it cost $77 million to bridge. seven decades later the eastern span alone will cost almost $300 million to bring down. the deconstruction, if you want to call it that, will take place in three different sections simultaneously by three different contractors working from the top right down to the mud level at the bottom of the bay. strangely enough income the top section the first piece they take off is likely to be the last one they put on. >> they are actually studying how the original span was built so they can take it apart in reverse order. >> but much more carefully because we are more environmental. the original steal has lead paint and the road bed has concrete and gasoline. they want to make sure none of it falls into the bay. as to what might remain. >> yes, we want to leave a little for history. >> the spokesman told us one possibility. a park in place of an approach

there will be a lot of interesting things happening traffic wise. weather-wise, what do you have? >> school is just about to start and the temperatures climb. that's exactly what we are looking at. ha-ha, right? we do have low clouds and fog there along the coast, right? but even despite the cloud cover with high clouds inland, it will be a warm day today. in fact a little above normal and the trend continues into the second half of the weekend and early next week. we are going to add in the chance of some thunderstorms. here's a look at our roof camera downtown. the numbers are in the 60s pretty much. 58 here, 62 in oakland. redwood stay 59. 57 half moon bay. low clouds and the fog. here's a look at emeryville this morning. temperatures over into the east bay will be warmed to. the game this evening should be railroad pleasant with a little bit of a breeze. 55 in nevada. the cool numbers up to the north

from nevada it santa rosa and san rafael with mid-50s there. out toward the delta, not much of a delta breeze and that will indicate a warm day. 62 in fairfield with 63 livermore and concord. here's a look at our highlights. we are looking at not only a sunny day today, but mild to warm once again. a few high clouds. but things get interesting tomorrow. we will have high pressure build in, bringing us a warmer afternoon. but then the chance of thunderstorms heads our way late sunday night and it's going to stay with us through much of the early and middle part of the week. so we just are left with a few patches of fog throughout the afternoon today. we've had that. the golden gate bridge around half moon bay, but most everywhere else really heating up throughout the rest of the afternoon. you can see a few high clouds, but overall you will notice we are back to the 70s and 80s and even 90s as we head toward the livermore valley. and more heat along with cloud cover headed our way for the second half of the weekend. a couple of reasons why. we do have an area of low

pressure that right now sits to the north and west of us. a counter clockwise flow with that pushing up subtropical moisture. relative humidity is going to increase. it will feel not only hot but a little sticky around here in the next couple of days due to the proximity of that low. then by the time we head toward tomorrow night into monday, as the low gets closer to the coast, look what happens. the return flow bringing not only the threat of thunderstorms into the bay area, but through the sierra nevada. the southern syria around yosemite, and once again, like last weekend, mount shasta. coined of unsettled with warm temperatures to start later this afternoon. 83 in san jose. look for 81 in milpitas. 87 los gatos, with 90s toward morgan hill. on the peninsula once again low 80s for palo alto. 75 should be feel pretty good from millbrae, and sunshine in the sunset today. it will take a little bit of time. 70 downtown.

site for teachers. the exploratorium has run a summer training session for science teachers for more than 25 years. >> this thing here is called. >> the program is so popular, the staff has to turn away every two of three teachers who apply. but now the exploratorium has moved to a new, much larger build soggy it will be able to accept a lot more teachers. the timing is perfect because california is getting brand new science standards tore -- for all grades. teachers have to learn to put them in action. >> we are so happy to see the new next generation science standards because this is what the exploratorium has been doing forever. >> these new standards call for more hands-on learning with more interactive lessons. focus is on making sure students have the knowledge and critical thinking skills they will need tore 21st century jobs. >> finally the emphasis isn't going to be as much on what sign it was know, but what they do. >> that could be an expensive equipment and supplies.

90s once again inland. they are going to get a little closer to the west for sunday. but as for today, in and around the bay it should be warm to pleasant, but kind of hot out in you are inland east bay. a couple things going on. we are in between two parcels of air, an upper level low to the west and high pressure to the east. we have the return flow around the low, bringing up a few higher clouds. tomorrow, even though the highs will get lows enclosure and the numbers go up, it will feel more muggy because by tomorrow night look what happens. we are looking at the possibility of some thunderstorms. not only from northern california all the with a i down the spine of the sierra. so, of course, the threat for dry lightning and also with some wetting rain, and that's not a good combination. 96 in yosemite. look for 67 in monterey.

so the wide-ranging spread once again. back home we're looking at 70s san francisco, 81 on the peninsula, palo alto and 92 out toward livermore. mid-90s in antioch, and santa cruz a few clouds, 80. if you are headed to the east bay, high there in the upper 70s. but by 6:00 we will be dropping through the 60s. a nice night. 7:59 sunset. look ahead, warmer tomorrow, into the upper 90s. slightly cooler on monday. increasing relative humidity and cloud cover not only monday and tuesday, but the threat of thunder continues through wednesday. we are cooler, though, and the temperatures will just kind of bounce around into next weekend, but we will feel more like average thursday, friday. it will start to feel pretty warm around here. >> thank you, lisa. the 49ers fans now have a new place to stock up on gear. this morning the team will host the grand opening of its new store at the westfield valley mall in santa clara. a select number of fans will
