a popular santa cruz surfing instructor is under arrest accused of secretly snapping photos and recording video of students he, woulded with and more. good evening. i'm carolyn tyler in for ama dates. 38-year-old dillon was arrested on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts with children. abc7 news reporter sergio quintana is live to tell us what lead to the arrest. good evening. >> good evening, carolyn. for years dillon grenner has run this school, but he is in jail accused of inappropriate account as with students. they said he admitted to that and wrote out an apology letter to the victims and to

the entire community. 38-year-old dillon is accused of lewd and lascivious act with two 13-year-old girls. they said he offers them free lessons. >> he continues the relationship with them until the point it grows into an inappropriate relationship with him where he is making sexual advances toward them and photographing them in in -- and personal body parts. >> they served search warrants at his home. evidence leads detectives to believe there are more victims. >> there were videos taken from the store in the dressing room as well depicting young girls getting changed into wetsuits there at the business. >> dillon grenner has been well known on coul beach where he teachers teachers ands his surf classes. he shot a series of varied yows last year showing trash and syringes there. they recently is pad a curfew aimed at keeping homeless

eyeglasses. breaking news out of oakland where one person is dead and another wounded from a shooting near mcarthur boulevard. both of the victims were in a car as was 5* 4-year-old. the child was not hurt. oakland police tonight are looking for a gunman who shot four people over a stolen purse. john alston has the details. >> the shooting took place in the shadow of the fox theater and trendy eat res. three stylists from the bad boy salon were shot in front of their business along with another person who happened to be on the sidewalk. >> i was doing my best to hold his wound. >> the trouble began at 4:00 in the afternoon when somebody grabbed a purse that belonged to this man's girlfriend who was a stylish -- stylist in the salon. >> i chased him down and i caught him. i got the purse back.

>> witnesses say at least one of them returned to the hair salon on a bike and with a gun. this man was in a cafe across the street. >> you can hear a pop, pop and a walkout and you can see the gentleman shooting marquis when he is on the dwrownd and -- on the ground and i render first aid. >> i can see people laying on the ground and i find out my girl got shot. all of this over a broken window and a few meaning less possessions. it is pointless. >> police are checking several surveillance cameras and hoping it will lead to the gunman. even though police say violent crime in this section of oakland is relatively rare, some neighbors are not surprised. >> it is not shocking. one of the things the community has called for is more presence with the police. >> police say today's victims are expected to survive. abc7 news. >> san francisco police are investigating a shooting that

injured three people in the bay view district tonight. gunfire erupted around 8:30 in front of a home on cameron way in the alex griffith howling complex. two victims were taken by ambulance and a third vic testimony showed up afterwards. he was taken by a private car. developing news in the on going occupation of a berkeley post office slated to be closed and sold. protesters tell abc7 news they have been warned by police to leave the property or face arrest. the u.s. postal service wants to sell the historic 99-year-old building. it has upset many locals who do not want the facility shutdown. postal jobs to be cut there. they began the occupation on the front steps late last night. we will update you on developments as soon as we get them tonight. three cars parked in the coliseum parking lot went up in flames during the oakland a's game. these are photos of the fire

taken by fans attending the game by the cleveland indians. three cars were completely destroyed 1k3* barbecue coals that were smollerring and improperly flared causing a small fire that grew into the big one. let's head over to abc7 news meteorologist leigh glaser for a first check on weather and live lop deer 7hd. >> let's go ahead and look at live doppler 7hd and you can see we do have low clouds and also some high and midlevel clouds continuing to stream across the bay area. boy it was warm and muggy today. there is an area of low pressure just off the coast and they are continuing to throw the high clouds in our direction. we warmed up nicely, antioch 90 degrees. 74 the high for oakland and 69 san francisco and 89 for santa rosa. it looks like the chance of isolated thunderstorms could be here as soon as sunday

night. a look at the accu-weather seven-day forecast. i'll let you know when you can hear a little of the thunder, carolyn. >> a fierce battle is underway all over the western united states gens dozens of wildfires. several are raging from alaska to arizona. the largest among them are located in utah and near the popular ski resort in sun valley, idaho. 1600 homes have been evacuated from the community. it has devoured at least 100,000 acres so far with no signs of containment anytime soon. and a wildfire burning in gold country has grown to more than 10,000 acres. the american fire broke out one week ago today east of foresthill in the tahoe national forest. no populated areas are threatened and no structures lost. that fire is 45% contained.

marine veterans who served in iraq a decade ago held their 10-year reunion on the peninsula today. the brothers of the second battalion echo company 23 had a lot of catching up. they met at the war fighter brewing company in san carlos, a business just started by one of the members of the unit. john barton's brewery is staffed entirely by vets. he believes reunions like today's are important forgetting vets employed once they leave the military. >> i was just approached by somebody about jobs for veterans. for me in the last 60 second had had -- seconds i can pre 80 another job for a veteran and not know it. >> his companies have employed more than 400 veterans. still to come on abc7 news at 11:00, a dramatic scene in the east bay as a building is imploded.

photography, quite dramatic, show cal state east bay's 13-story warren hall turned into a pile of rubble. kyra clapper shows us how they use the implosion to understand how the bay area is affected by earthquakes. >> now i can't remember where it was. >> he looks out hours after warren hall was demolished. he doesn't remember hayward without the landmark that towered over the catch -- campus and defined the skyline for the last 40 years. >> you felt like you were at home when you saw that building. >> they set off 462 pounds of explosives and the usgs calls it a man made earthquake. it leaned and collapsed in on itself. the force it created was about a magnitude 2.0 quake. they will study the impact of the tumbler on the hayward area and the hayward fault. >> it halls the highest

probability of generating the next large earthquake. >> the 13-story administrative building that housed classrooms was built along the fault 40 years ago. it has been abandoned the last two years since it was deemed the most size lickly unsafe building in the csu system. the usgs used 600 of these seismographs and placed straw strategically across homes to measure the impact of today's event with unprecedented detail. >> how hard will it shake over here? how hard will it shake over there? we can then compile hazard maps. >> they will take the information and paint a 3-d picture of what is going on in the earth's layers. they will publish their findings. even though the building was gone it leaves a lasting memory of those who went to the university or drove by it every day. >> i had a tear after it fell.

let's check in with leigh glaser to see what is shaping up with the weather forecast. >> i think we are going to see a lot of interesting weather phenomenon in the next 26-34 hours. it is high humidity and high temperatures were mild to warm and we have the high and midlevel clouds. they have started to pass to the north of us. we will look for low clouds and fog near the coast and overnight we will keep some high cloudiness out there as well. san francisco 59 and it is 66 degrees and very mild in redwood city. san jose is 64. half moon bay, 59 and the golden gate bridge seeing a little fuzzy sky as they are starting to lower. santa rosa 602 and 63 in napa as well as novato. we have 64 in concord and livermore. here is our forecast highlights. we will keep it a little on the partly cloudy conditions side this evening.

humid overnight and get ready for high heat and then a thunder threat. a chance of some isolated thunderstorms begin on sunday night, tomorrow evening and will last through the midweek. overnight lows warmest inland. secretary 5 and warm and humid there. we will look for high and midlevel clouds. half moon bay 56 degrees. all right, folks, this is the set up. 10:00 tomorrow morning and higher pressure is building back to the san francisco bay area from the east. this is what will heat us up tomorrow. inland temperatures near 100 degrees for one day. as we get into tomorrow evening the low will start to move a little closer to the bay area. it will position itself as the high pushes out and counter clockwise motion around this low. it will definitely bring us unsettled weather. most of the storms will be confined to the east of us, but by late monday night and

tuesday into wednesday, all of this will shift to the west bringing the bay area a pretty good chance of seeing isolated thunderstorms. here is the timing, 11:00 tonight the high clouds continue to move through. 1:00 tomorrow afternoon you will notice that most of the activity near the sierra, but monday at 10:00 a.m., that's when we will start to see some of the moisture rotate back to the bay area. be advised the -- there could be a little thunder on monday night and tuesday morning. a fire weather advisory with possibility of thunderstorms. gusty winds and potential for new fire strikes. that is until tuesday evening. highs tomorrow 86 for san jose. it will be heating up in palo alto. 85. 70 in half moon bay. 75 downtown san francisco. 95 for calistoga. it will be hot inland with brentwood 99, 98 for concord and livermore. one day it is heat and then we

oakland's uptown area over a stolen purse. it happened at 4:00 this afternoon on telegraph avenue. all of the victims are expected to survive. tonight the man being held as a person of interest in the disappearance and death of an oakland federal investigator is speaking out. in a jail house interview with our media partners at the bay area news group, randy alanis said he had a loving relationship with sandra coke. coke went missing and her body found five days later. he was the last person seen with her. he says -- well now he is in custody for violating the conditions of his parole and he said the two attended church together and planned to marry. he denies harming coke and having anything to do with her disappearance. new details on yesterday's officer involved shooting in uh rine do. a hit and run suspect wounded by a highway patrol officer at the off-ramp to highway 24 has

now been identified. is it is 32-year-old david al alcairo concord. he is recovering in recovering in the hospital tonight. terrifying moments in downtown san francisco today when police chased a man holding a gun through the powell street bart station. the man ran from officers and down into the staigs at 2:30 this afternoon. he was eventually arrested and the gun was recovered in a trashcan. no shots were fired. egyptian officials say it may once again be time to ban the muslim brotherhood. the news comes on a day when security forces exchanged gunfire with a sniper in a tower and then stormed a mosque to round up brotherhood supporters. the brotherhood was outlawed for decades until coming to power a year ago with the election of mohamed morsi. more than 800 people have been killed across egypt this week alone. surprising allegations

government wants to save the islands by covering them with poison. the islands are infested with mice. there is 500 per acre. it attracts hungry owls whose off spring feed on a rare sea bird. they say the best way to get rid of the mice is with poison dropped by helicopters. the fish and wildlife service will make a final decision by the end of the year. wildlife officials are expressing concern tonight about a recent rash of bear attacks. in the past week alone they have injured six people. they include two hikers in yellowstone national park and a 12-year-old michigan girl who needed 100 stitches to repair her wounds. new research could help find some help in the fight against fibromyalgia. tonight abc7 news health and science reporter carolyn johnson tells us about a new

test that might finally provide some definitive answers. >> is there any place that doesn't hurt? >> nearly all of the key points on blanca's arms are tender. it is a way to dying know fibromyalgia. it has muscle pain and joint stiffness and fatigue. >> i cried for everything. i was in pain all the time. >> on average it takes about three to five years for patients like blanca to get a diagnosis. >> and i was getting depressed because i didn't get anything accomplished. >> people shouldn't be looked at as if they are inure -- gnaw rot particular or hysterical. >> he has developed what he says is the very first blood test to diagnose fibromyalgia. he measures the blood markers in the immune system. white blood cells have numerous proteins, but

research shows you have less production of two specific types. >> we were struck by the fact that they were not producing these proteins in normal quantities. >> in a study of 110 patients with a fibromyalgia diagnosis the test was positive in 93% of the cases. a lack of the protein suppresses the immune system which shows why they are vulnerable to all different types of stress. >> it plays a role in why a person might have depression and why a person may develop extreme pain any where they are touched and why they have terrible fatigue. >> another doctor told blanca she may have fibromyalgia. for this story epigenetics covered the cost of the test. >> the only proof i have is how i feel. i don't have anything that tells me, yes, you have this. >> but other doctors say the test won't tell them anymore than a physical exam reveals.
