>> the rim fire has quad drum peopled in size and only 1 percent contained down from 2 percent yesterday. katie marzullo is in the newsroom with more. >> the numbers are going in the wrong direction. fire officials have ordered campers to leave. the rim fire is out of control. the fire has burned more than 63,000 acres, 99 square miles. containment is dropping from 5 percent at height to 2 percent and now 1 percent this morning. a mandatory evacuation order. since the fire break out on saturday there have only been voluntary evacuation advisories and now the sheriff says there is now an immediate threat to life or property. >> we have everything loaded and ready on trailers, ready to go.

everyone is on high alert. bay area camps in yosemite were evacuated this week. san jose family camp is holding up but other camps are still in harm's way. two homes and seven outbuildings were destroyed early but no other structures are destroyed. more than 1,800 firefighters are fighting the blaze. yosemite is open but it will take you longer to get there from the bay area. take highway 99 and go on highway 140. >> some bay bridge drivers face a detour approaching the toll plaza from oakland to make way for a new fast track only lane and the countdown continues until the bridge is shut down

completely. abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield is at the toll plaza. >> we are getting close. the new bridge will have a new feature that the old bridge doesn't have: it will have a bicycle and pedestrian path. this rendering shows the finished product. the path is on the right and is 15.5' wide holding bicyclists and pedestrians. everyone is going to have to be courteous so the two can co-exist. that will be important on opening day. >> we expect a huge amount of crowds. several bicycle groups are interested in making the first ride over the bay bridge. there are going to be a lot people on the bridge and we may limit the amount of people on the bridge. >> as for cars drivers will experience inconvenience this weekend. three lanes on the right side of the toll plaza will be closed

information. he was arrested and released. >> sheriff deputies are looking for the person who opened fire on an occupied car hitting one person on drake avenue around 7:30 last night in marin city. 21-year-old vallejo man was shot in the chest and taken to marin general hospital. the condition is not known but three was able to speak to investigators before going into surgery. the shooter is a black man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and ski mask. authorities are continuing the search for an 18-year-old man suspected of stabbing his pregnant teenage girlfriend and a family dog. he ran from a home on wednesday morning after stabbing his 16-year-old girlfriend in the leg and abdomen. she is pregnant with twins. the "contra costa times" reports the girls and the children everyone not seriously injured. the dog needed surgery and had part of the liver removed.

>> a 10-year old boy injured in a pit bull attack in antioch still has a long road to recovery. hunter was released from the hospital this week. yesterday, he visited the doctor who said he needs more surgeries. he suffered nerve damage and doctors are still waiting to see if the skin graft will take. a hearing is held next week to determine the fate of the dog involved. the owner requested the hearing to avoid euthanizing the animal. >> a man who lost two daughters in a crash is facing criminal charges this morning. the prosecution have filed manslaughter charges against 48-year-old man who was driving on highway 101 in palo alto last november, black friday, and he fell asleep at the wheel and crashed the s.u.v. the two daughters were ejected and killed. he hit a c.h.p. officer who suffered serious injuries. he drove despite getting just three hours of sleep in the previous 24 hours.

california have agreed to meet. >> california is set to become the first state in the nation to limit a chemical in our drinking water that could cause cancer. we have reported on the problem with chromium. standards limit the total chromium and california is proposing a chromium fix standard of less than allowed by the federal government. we we took samples from drinking water fountains that show the levels below the proposed state standard. >> a judge says water can be released from a northern california reservoir to prevent a salmon kill in the lower river after farmers sued the federal government over the release of water. they argued that it would decrease the little available to them for irrigation but the judge ruled, however, the water can be released at a reduced amount. environmentallives and farmers are pleased with the decision.
