good afternoon, everybody, i'm larry beil. >> i'm carolyn johnson. that 150,000 acre wildfire continues to rage out of control near yosemite threatening san francisco power source and much of the bay area water supply. >> it's taken nine days now forts to get it only 15% contained. moist, cool conditions helped

some. firefighters have taken preventive measures such as clearing brush and digging head of the flames. >> but fighting the fire has been expensive costing more than $20 million so far, a big chunk of the $172 million set aside for fighting wildfires this year. >> governor brown arrived at the camp today, met with federal fire and emergency officials approving an aid request fema will reimburse california for 75% of the firefighting costs. the governor says that bill could go up but it's all essential. >> the firefighters have real challenge on their hands. it's something happening california almost every year this, is one of the worst. and it just under scores how important it is to have funding, to have the talent and leadership at both the state, local and federal level. >> governor brown spoke to the

president on the phone yesterday briefing the president who promised support for the response. >> this is what remains of the berkeleyj|ñ camp ground and buildings reduced to ashes yesterday, flames ran over the site. this has been a vacation spot for residents 91 years. the campsite was evacuated tuesday as the fire grew closer, you can see it's mostly gone. officials are still assessing damage and say it's too early to talk about rebuilding. >> we certainly think about what the future of the camp will be and again, we don't know yet. we're just going to have to wait and see what the damage is. >> generations of berkeley families spent their summers together at the camp. sheer what it looked like just days ago. images on the left and right you can see devastation caused by the fire. are the of rubble. and very few structures standing. >> we're receiving you report pictures from people who enjoyed the camp over the

water officials here are keeping a close watch on it. >> that is because it supplies water to much of the area, even lower parts of the east bay. >> problem is that ash is nauling on to the hetch hetchy reservoir and there is concern if enough gets in, it could be a problem, water is drawn 230 feet below the surface. the san francisco public utilities commission reports months from now it could be a bigger problem. >> other side we need to manage is the spring runnoff. >> p.u.c. general manager says steps will be taken next spring. at university cafe they serve 1200 glasses of water a day.

>> i heard it's from shun. i think last week it comes from up north. >> 100% comes from hetch hetchy reservoir but a spokeswoman says the sfpuc is reassuring customers. >> san francisco has several local reservoirs with many, many months worth of water in them. >> if the ash from the runnoff does degrade the water quality p.u.c. is telling customers water now will be filtered necessary. >> which will slow down the . >> right now, sf p.u.c. reports the ash fall over the past 24 hours has been negligentable. how bad it might get depends to a great deal on how far this fire spreads into the water shed. mark matthews abc 7 news. >> you can get latest

abond -- abandoned at the scene. police identified two other vehicles if you recognize the suspects or vehicles call place. >> police believe these two men broke into a home and stole items earlier this month. one matched a description of a prowler on edgewood drive. the search that followed led to stolen jewel skpri a computer. >> old bay bridge closes in two days on the new eastern span is scheduled to open tuesday morning. the latest from the manning on the change over. hi, heather. >> we learned first.

all the bike path was originally scheduled to open at 10:00 tuesday the third. that has been postponed now. the exact timing of the opening is just as uncertain as could be. this will be replaced with this. the real thing should have real cars on it by tuesday morning september 3. there is no party planned but there is a traditional chain cutting scheduled for monday afternoon at 3:00. who will do honors? governor brown's office says he will not be there but mtc says anything is possible. >> idea of the governor has been brushed. my guess is that there will be multiple hands on that birch.
