>> live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. >> a deadly accident in the east bay. it is affected students at high school on the first day back from summer vacation, a classmate was killed. thank you for joining us. >> counselors have been sent to the high school to help students who knew the young victim deal with the grove. the 17-year-old robert orlando would have begun the senior year today. kira?

>> eric, i spoke with a close friend of robert orlando and his boss at the part help time job, both remembering him as a kind and caring young man always with a smile on his face. very carefree. he is gone too soon. the mourn began with an announcement. >> and a moment of silence for a senior who never made it to the first day of school. 17-year-old robert orlando was killed last night when the car he was a passenger in ran off the drive in danville and crashed into a tree and through a against and died at the hospital. >> i went to the lake with him and a few family friends with his and...he was so funny and he lit up a room. he was so cool. >> three was a bus boy and pizza maker at a pizza company. his manager, too upset to go on camera said he was the most reliable employees, a great kid, loved by everyone, always smiling.

>> the survivors are seniors at san ramon valley high school. the driver and other passenger are being treated for broken ribs and a broken leg. the cause of the crash is under investigation. police say they don't think alcohol or drugs were a factor but do say speed could have been the cause the. >> it is not how you want to start school the first day of school with grief counselors is not the way to start. >> counselors are on campus to help the students mourning the loss of orlando, grieving for someone who died too soon. >> he was really cool and he didn't care what anyone thought. he was a really nice kid. >> now we are back here at the high school and you can see on the marquis they use it to wish happy birthday to the students a school and a school district that really is invested in their relationship with their students. they want them to know grief counselors are here as long as they needed.

>> thank you, kira. tomorrow night at 8:00 the bay bridge will close to all traffic with workers switching from the old bridge to the new eastern span over the labor day holiday affects tens of thousands of drivers. it looks as if it is ready to go as we begin the countdown. abc7 news reporter joins us from the terminal in san francisco, the temporary terminal to show us how people are planning ahead. >> you will not see the transbay express bus here starting on thursday morning as riders bypass the bay bridge if five days. car. truck. moisture. bus. the closure will not discriminate even if you car pool or take public transportation. >> i will stay at home. >> you are not going to work? >> i don't think so. >> a.c. transit buses stop running across the bay bridge at 7:10 wednesday evening until it opens back up next tuesday

morning. the buses will run back and forth 0 to the bart stations. riders are ready. >> i take transbay to the city and sometime action transit to bart, same time, just expect more of a crowd. >> car poolers already dropped the formality and now they are dropping their cars. >> nothing i can do. i will try an hour earlier, happen on bart. >> bart will run 24 hours a day during the closure with overnight trains on an hourly scheduled serving 14 stations. do not underestimate the desire by many to avoid it all. >> what are you going to do when the bay bridge is closed? >> call in sick. >> you really are going to call in sick? >> no. >> what are you going to do? >> take the bart. >> last time the bay bridge closed over labor day week was in 2009 and bart saw a 30 percent increase in passengers. >> thank you.

were counting on a labor day week rush are out of luck. >> everyone who lives here, on outbounds businesses, is terrified. >> so far the water supply for san francisco is safe but if that changes the city can switch to reservoirs. >> thank you, closer to home a fire tied up crews in oakland this morning and break out just before 3:00 at a two-story house on 50th avenue. giant flames could be seen shooting from the home. crews fought the fire and made sure no one was inside. >> the fremont police officer was hurt in a scuffle after he interrupted a robbery. the officer spotted a man trying to steal a woman's cell phone and hitting her in the chest. this happened on saturday night. he ordered the man to lie on the ground and the fight broke out. other officers arrived and it took five officers to get handcuffs on the suspect. the first officer suffered cuts, scrapes, and bruises and injuries to his hand. police say the suspect was under

afternoon from 2:00 until 8:00 in the evening and southwest wind will blow around 15- to 25-knots across the bay water and also the delta and look how light and variable the winds are, indicative of high pressure sitting on top of us and a reason why it will be so much warmer today than yesterday. our fat of the wind is 13 miles per hour, and fairfield is coming from the north at five miles per hour. so enjoy today, it will be one of the warmest in the forecast. the clouds are hugging the coast and will break up, maybe not so much sunshine as yesterday and they are on the right side of the screen, with smoke and the brighter whiter colors are the thunderstorms that are developing. young in antioch, a warm spot and a lot 70's and mid-to-upper 60's around the bay and upper 60's to low 50's along the coast into san francisco where we have a beautiful picture from south beach looking to twin peaks and sutro power -- tower above san francisco right now and it will be brighter this morning and all the way to the afternoon and

that is why it will be warmer today and mild through friday and still think it will be cooler this weekend. it is not warm sunshine at golden gate with many people two to seven degrees warmer with a very typical late august day with temperature 81 in san jose and cupertino, and mid-to-upper 80's around los gatos and gilroy, and everyone else is in the 70's and mid-to-upper 60's along the coast with a touch of sunshine and downtown is 68 and south san francisco and across the golden gate bridge at sausalito is 70 and warmer at low-to-mid 60's, and 70 on the east bay shock and hercules is 80 and not so comfortable in the east bay valley, mid-80's to low 90's at brentwood. tonight we will be in the 50's and 60's and more extensive cloud cover for a cooling trend for tomorrow.
