that breaking news happening in san francisco. authorities on the scene of a fatal hit and run. witnesses say a woman was sun bathing at holly park with a child nearby when a city maintenance vehicle ran over her this afternoon. just moments ago the fire department confirmed the woman died. >> holly park is located near the junction of highway 101 and interstate 280. abc 7 news crew captured video of several police cars behind a city maintenance vehicle.

we first brought you at 4:00. >> yes. people in this community, it's very tight knit. they're shocked and saddened to hear a woman was hit and killed here today. you can see where it happened between two trees and a white blanket there. that is where the woman was. there was a child as well as a dog that were unhurt. now we do have video of the vehicle believed to be responsible because the vehicle was not here when police arrived. the driver took off, a green pickup truck, parks department vehicle. the driver was detained by police and is being questioned. now, if you take a look i was told by a witness the truck was driving akrots grass it was very busy at the time, then turned down between trees and that is when the driver ran over the woman and took off. so that is where the investigation is right now, they're talking to neighbors and anyone who may have
