the morgan fire is threatening homes, power lines and communications equipment in contra costa county. the fire doubled in size overnight then more than doubled in size again this afternoon. it's now burned nearly 4,000 acres and just 20% contained. it's burning on the eeflt side of mount diablo. good afternoon, everybody, i'm larry beil. >> we have live team coverage

for you. spencer christian will show us weather conditions firefighters are dealing with. let's gib r begin with laura anthony. laura? >> well, let's show you what's happening here right now. i'm on the south side of mount diablo. this has been the priority here, we're just about, boy say a couple miles below the summit here, up high. there are no homes threatened immediately on this side of the mountain. we're many miles from the home. this is above 2000 feet. we have flames in the last few minutes and there are crews up there with bulldozers trying to draw a line there. it's their priority to keep the fire up and prevent it from coming down further, as for the height of the fire, it's above 2,000 feet good news for residentsthon side making fighting the fire tough. >> with so much of the terrain

rugged firefighters just have to let flames go. through this tinder dry manzanita. >> a big issue is access. this part we're on now has summit road against it. we're trying to hold it at summit road, that is a priority and around the back side of the fire below us here. >> crews were able to push back the huge flames that threatened to cross summit road. they held that line, then got out of the way. >> a good part of mount diablo park has been charred.
