at the height of the fire monday this is what curry canyon looked like. the slope is blackened but no longer burning. it's all about making sure breaks around the burn burned areas are full of hole autos they try to surround the areas so when wind kicks up it's starting to fuel again. so sparks don't fly into the taller grass. >> there was a flare up late monday that carred a -- charred grass to the roadway. now wrkt fire >> there are areas still smoldering and hot spots. that is why you still are seeing helicopters doing water

investigators trying to determine the cause of a deadly overnight fire in an apartment house. the 56-year-old professor at university of san francisco kied in the blaze. goodman found on oregon street around 1:30 this morning he died at the hospital. the older home was engulfed in flames. the red cross helping several others who managed to escape from the buildinging. >> it's scary to see how the top four of the third floor was angled this flames and stuff just burning. >> neighbors say goodman was a smoker and liked to burn candles but there is no word on the cause of the fire.
