yesterday. low 60s at the coast and mid-80s inland. this evening, if you have plans out, mostly clear. clouds will return late tonight. i have a roller coaster of temperatures with the seven-day forecast coming up. carolyn. >> francis, thank you. we have breaking news out of pittsburgh where three people have died following a house fire early this morning. the two-alarm fire broke out at a home on dimaggio afternoon around 12:30. authorities say the victims, all women, died at the scene. they have not yet been identified, but a neighbor said he knew them. >> an older dadely and two other ladies, about 30, 40. they were nice people. i don't know what happened to them. >> crews were able to get the fire out about a half-hour later. investigators say it appears there weren't any functioning smoke detectors inside the home. we are also following breaking news in oakland where the investigating a crash

that has left a motorcyclist dead. the accident happened this morning just after 1:30 at the 98th avenue on-ramp. authorities arrived on the on te to find the victim laying on the roadway. there were five other vehicles, one fully engulfed in flames. witnesses say the motorcyclist may have been involved in an altercation with the people in the other cars prior to the crash. one of those people took off. he was later arrested at his home for dui. a second person was also arrested. the motorcyclist who died has been identified as 35-year-old jose curio of san lorenzo. the search is on this morning for a man involved in a shock assault in rono park. victim, a housekeeper at a high-end hotel. lisa amin gulezian as the details. >> the police continue to lock tore clues and suspect after a

housekeeper was attacked. >> it's very unusual to hear that happen in a place like this. >> this double tree is known for tennis courts, golf course and restaurants. >> very shocking because in a hotel, especially this caliber of hotel, you think you will be more safe than that. i don't care if you are a guest or an employee, you should be safe. >> hotel management released this statement saying, quote, the well-being, safety and security of our team members and our guests is of paramount importance. those who have worked in the hotel industry for years admit this type of attack is rare, but possible. >> we have staff over here who is like family to us and if something like that ever happened to them, it would just be heartbreaking. >> patricia and her family own america's best value inn and sleep in santa rosa. she regularly walks the property, checks rooms and watches the front desk alone.

like at the double tree, security cameras are set up throughout this hotel as well. the police refused to talk to us on camera, but did release this description of the suspect. a 30 to 40-year-old african-american with a thin build. he's 5'10" and has a tattoo of writing on the right side of his neck. abc7 news. >> this morning a manhunt also continues in oakland. police searching for two men involved in a shootout outside the downtown marriott on friday. a cabdriver standing about 100 feet away was shot in the leg. no one else was hurt. the shooters ran off before police could arrive. it happened minutes best ohio state football team checked in. they were in town for the cal game. there's a bay area connection to the death of two children in orange county. according to police, a 42-year-old woman tried to kill herself friday afternoon by

ramming her car into a electrical vault. her comments led police to the bodies of her children in a hotel room in santa ana. she'll be booked on two counts of suspicion of murder. >> the families of missing adults in san francisco are hoping to focus few attention on their cases. there are renewed efforts to find the young men. >> at golden gate park, these parents share hugs and smiles. unfortunately what unites them is a terrible sense of loss. they are the parents of five young men who have gone missing in san francisco. they are trying to raise awareness for missing person cases that often don't get enough attention. >> grown adults are just as

important as anyone else. >> this couple's son went missing nearly two years ago. jackson miller in may of 2010, cameron remmer in october of 2011. christian hughes went missing early this february and sean city disappeared this may. their families say each has some type of psychological issue that may have prompted their disappearances. >> yes, a mental disorder. he's an adult and if he chooses to stay on the streets, and i find my son, i don't like that, but i'm okay. he's a grown man. i'm not trying to make him anything. just want to know he's alive. that's all. >> this event at golden gate park was put together in part by the family of sean city. since he went missing his family has been posting signs throughout san francisco. the brutgers say their son may have been last seen in the ashby hoping somebody may recognize him. i want somebody to tell me they know where my son is. >> it's breaking my heart. worst two years of my life. i don't want to do it anymore. >> if sean is spotted, his dad hopes someone takes a picture or

gets a video to give to police. >> abc7 news. the driver of a second vehicle involved in a crash that killed an antioch teenager has come forward. police say a 17-year-old boy died after the car he was in slammed into a tree on hillcrest avenue just after 7:00 friday night. a 19-year-old in the car was also injured. police say while the second vehicle does not appear to have collided with the car that crashed, both cars were speeding just before that accident. the driver of the second car is cooperating with investigators. >> we continue to follow developing news of the massive flooding in colorado. more rain pounded the region overnight, and forecasters are calling for continued downpours today. hundreds of people have already been evacuated, many by helicopter in a massive operation.

ginger has more on the rescue efforts. >> colorado consumed, again. >> it's devastating. >> trauma on high as the unyield being waters force hundreds of rescues. >> i think what we have is the greatest number of americans rescued by helicopter since hurricane katrina. >> all that fresh flooding, up to 4 inches, and hail, smothering aurora. 600 are unaccounted for and 4 confirmed dead. >> shock. i haven't seen this much aware anywhere. >> almost 7,000 people evacuated from their homes. 85 students trapped by floodwaters finally airlifted out of the mountains safely. and in the foothills the south platte river overflowing at an alarming rate. look at this time-lapse. floodwaters devouring the farmland in less than a half-hour. right across the street piles of dirt lined up to protective

any's vulnerable home. her girls and pups making the escape just in time. >> i have never been in an evacuation. it's kind of scary. >> neighbors, marion and joseph, watching in disbelieve. their home surrounded by that creeping water. >> a half-hour ago you were just over there and it was dry. >> yes. i have been walking all around the house because it was dry. >> across colorado, grave yards of debris, roads, piercing roads, and homes obliterated and everywhere you look families holding on together. >> ginger is report from colorado. back here at home, officials say mt. diablo state park is expected to reopen tomorrow, more than a week after a fire that charred more than 3100 acres. the fire is now 100 percent contained. it started one week ago today and forced the evacuation of more than 75 homes. none of the homes burned. cal fire firefighters are still working to clean up the inside of containment lines. investigators believe that fire

was started by a target shooter near clayton. firefighters expect to have the rim fire, burning near yosemite national park, contained by friday. it's burned 255,000 acres. it's 81% contained. highway 120, the main road into yosemite, reopened yesterday afternoon. a team of scientists looking into the damage expects to have their assessment and recovery plan completed this week. >> frances dinglasan is in now for lisa argen. back to the colorado area, more rain today? >> more rain today, about another inch. and yesterday denver got over two inches in one day. for us, we are going to get more sunshine. look at this gorgeous shot from the exploratorium camera looking out toward the bay bridge. blue skies and the sun reflecting off the water. but you notice the water is ribling. we will see breezy conditions, as well. and i will have your local accuweather temperature high for today coming up shortly.

at least five people have been killed in mexico due to two storm systems pounding on opposite ends of the country. hurry ingrid on one end and tropical storm manuel is in the pacific ocean. several thousand residents along the mexico gulf coast has been evacuated ahead of ingrid's expected arrival tomorrow. meanwhile forecasters are warning tropical storm manual could become a hurricane before it makes landfall today. >> president obama says his policy in dealing with syria may not look, in his words, smooth and disciplined, but he says it's working. in an exclusive interview this morning with abc's george stephanopoulos, the president said the pursuit of a diplomatic plan led by the russians has put the u.s. in a better position regarding how it will handle disarming syria of its chemical weapons. >> as a consequence of the pressure that we've applied over the last couple of weeks, we have syria for the first time acknowledging that it has chemical weapons, agreeing to join the convention that

prohibits the use of chemical weapons, and the russians, they are primary sponsors, saying that they will push syria to get all of their chemical weapons out. the distance that we've traveled over these couple of weeks is remarkable. >> the president blames the assad regime, as you know, for a chemical attack the u.s. says killed over 1,000 people last month. he said the diplomatic deal would help' sure such an attack does not happen again. meanwhile secretary of state john kerry is sending a strong warning to syria this morning, saying the threat of force is real if that nation does not follow-through on the plan to hand over chemical weapons. you are looking at new video of kerry arriving in israel this morning. he issued the warning during a stop in jerusalem where he discussed the new u.s.-russian plan to rid syria of i chemical weapons by next year. he sid it's crucial for the syria to honor that agreement,

otherwise the threat to use military action remains in effect. >> there was a drill yesterday that took place yesterday at at & t. park. the raiders fan got a call reminding them of new security rules. colonel bernard has the story. >> it was only a test, but it looked and sounded like the real thing. no fans inside, but 800 giants employees played along in this realtime evacuation of at&t park. a suspect, armed with a gun, inside at&t was the scenario. it sent some workers running for cover and others filing out to a safe meeting spot near the park. giants bosses hope the same can be done with 40,000-some fans inside. >> it's our priority. if we aren't safe, we can't

side arms and stuff. >> this pirate knows raiders love their team, and keeping the experience safe for all the fans. abc7 news. >> this afternoon oracle team usa will try to build some momentum in the america's cup after winning their second race of the series yesterday over emirates team new zealand. they took advantage of a scary moment in race 8 yesterday. new zealand's catamarans nearly overturned because of a hydraulic problem involving one of the sails. as you saw, the boat came within a few degrees of capsizing. the skipper said it was a close call. >> went through, i guess, you know a split second to -- we were about as close as you could possibly get before the thing would have ended up on its side. >> the oracle team won the race by 52 seconds. today's second race with new zealand leading was postponed because of high winds. new zealand needs just three more wins to take the cup. oracle needs nine.

the golden gate bridge. you see a lot of blue skies out there. but in santa rosa where the winds have been light and in the valleys the cold air has been pooling causing some radiational fog. it's 54 degrees there right now. and novato 61. antioch more sunshine there. 70 degrees and concord currently 62. from mt. tam we can see the bay and some of those low clouds still causing flight arrival delays at sfo of over an hour. here's what you can expect for the day. we still have the low clouds and patchy fog to deal with in the morning but more sunshine this afternoon. and we are already seeing it right now. warmer days midweek. that's something to look forward to. i just want to show you what's going on with the water vapor image which shows moisture in the upper level. we have this trough moving through bringing us a stronger onshore flow. with the breezier conditions and stronger air mass we are getting more sunshine, coastal clearing.

but temperatures will be cooler compared to yesterday. not much change, though. you might just feel cooler with the breeze. in san jose 78. santa clara 76. for the art and wine festival. look for 76 in redwood city, as well, and 70 in san mateo. but still cool in pacifica with 62 degrees. downtown san francisco it's 68 degrees. and if you are heading up to wine country, it's going to be about 80 in napa, 81 in sonoma, even 88 in cloverdale. east bay numbers range from 60 in berkeley up to 75 in castro valley. there's a festival there today as well. in the inland areas you drop down to the upper 80s to mid-80 today. 85 in pittsburgh. still quite though. 81 san ramon. if you are head today the raiders game, bring the sunscreen. there will be lots of sunshine but hang on to your hats. winds from the west to 10 to 20 miles an hour. game time 1:25 around

>> the annual dragon boast festival continues today at treasure island. rations kicked off yesterday morning. there are 130 teams with some paddlers coming from as far away as the netherlands. the festival is today and free activities for kids of all ages. another popular event back in full swing this weekend, the chocolate festival goes from noon to five today. it's expected to draw 35,000 people. it raises money for project open hand, a nonprofit that feeds ailing and elderly people in the bay area. and look who is hosting a gala

bigger is always better. ♪ ho ho ho ♪ green giant >> welcome, back, everyone. we starting this half-hour with a quick look at the weather with frances dinglasan in this morning for lisa argen. >> good morning, everyone. temperatures mainly in the 60 around the bay area. 63 oakland. seeing a lot of sunshine early on. 58 in san francisco. it's still foggy in santa rosa at 54 and eats currently 60 in fremont. temperatures will warm up, but it could be a little bit cooler compared to yesterday. even though we are getting more sunshine,we do have a cooler air mass. around the bay, it's going to be breezy. temperatures in the mid-60s to mid-70s. along the coast you will see more sunshine and it will stay pretty much in the 60s today.

inland numbers will be sunny and warm once again, but instead of the upper 80 #* we will get in the mid-80s. i'll have more coming up. >> thank you, >> we have new details about a valley teenager who died while trapped inside a car. the 14-year-old was found dead inside her brother's bmw outside a high school on wednesday. it was near fresno. police believe an anti-theft feature kicked in, not letting her escape the sweltering vehicle. investigators say it appears the inside and outside when the key is used. it also disables the horn, and makes it almost impossible to escape. >> i don't think of that even after the investigation started. that was the furthest from my mind. >> an autopsy suggests martinez died from heatstroke. a passenger on a greyhound bus that overturned in ohio yesterday is telling a television station the driver fell asleep.

investigators have not yet determined exactly what happened when the bus went off the road early yesterday morning. that accident sent 37 people, including the driver, to the hospital. all but seven have been released. tens of thousands of americans may have been overpaid by uncle sam. over the last few years about 36,000 people were given disability payments they were not eligible for. that's according to a government report. to qualify, recipients go through a five-month waiting period. they can't earn more than $1,000 a month. in one case a doctor was earning $22,000 a month and was still paid $90,000 in benefits over the next three years. the government says it will recoup any improper payments. a tearful paula deen made her first public appearance this weekend since legal problems and controversy in the court of public opinion.

>> the one place that i would want to make my first step back out was texas. >> about 1500 people gave deen a standing ovation when she appeared at a cooking show in houston. deen said the last three months have been a roller coaster since it was disclosed in a court deposition that she had used racial slurs this the past. jerry sandusky's challenge to his child molestation conviction is set to go before an appeals court tuesday. the former penn state assistant football coach is hoping to overturn a sentence that could keep him behind bars for life. the court will decide whether or not prosecutors made an improper reference to the fact that sandusky did not testify during the trial. they will also decide whether jury instructions were mishandled, and whether the defense should have been given more time before trial. the federal government is launching a new smartphone app

to catch fugitive predators. ice calls the app operation predator. vic lee shows how it works. >> if you open up ice's new smartphone app, this is one of the first mugs you will see. kevin is a 37-year-old paramedic who once lived in the bay area. he disappeared last year after being indicted on child pornography charges. >> he is responsible for distribution of over 700 images and some videos of child sexual exploitation. >> the app's alert page lists all of the fugitives, their pictures and backgrounds. ice hopes someone out there will know where they are. the app makes it easy to contact investigators. you can text online or press the button that allows you to phone in the tip. the agency has already had success using social media to capture fugatives. last year in monterey david stevens was arrested after

posting his picture on facebook. >> within 24 hours tips came flooding in and we were able to apprehend the person. >> authorities also hope the app will help them find registered sex offenders who failed to check in with local police. the problem is many are homeless and it's difficult. >> if you went through megan's law and looked for a search, in a designated area. they wouldn't show up in a designated area. >> last month a multi-agency task force went into homeless encampments along the guadalupe river looking for 22 fugitives. they could only find a few. also on the software are john does, those seen in child born, whose identities are unknown. investigators first saw this man in videos seven years ago. they hope the new app will lead to a name and his arrest. vic lee, abc7 news.

>> the bike sharing program hopes to expand. they hope to double the bikes available from 700 to 1500 by the end of the year. one wrong video here but the correct story. money is an issue for the bike-sharing program. the $11 million pilot project is publicly funded. officials say they hope private sponsorship will help them expand the system. >> happening today, a bay area native will compete for the miss america crown tonight. 22-year-old crystal lee of san francisco was crowned miss california last year. according to her facebook page, she won the title after her third attempt. lee attended the college of marin before graduating from stanford. she will face-off against contestants from 49 other states, puerto rico and the virgin islands in tonight's competition.

we're going to take you down memory lane, back when high school offered auto shop as part of the curriculum. now one high school in san francisco is revving up its program and encouraging students to sign up. abc7 news education reporter lyanne melendez has more. >> few schools in the bay area encourage high school students to get down and dirty to repair cars. george washington high in san francisco is reintroducing car shop as part of this curriculum. >> i just like the feeling of messing with cars and you can tweak cars and all that. >> it's what girls should know.

if your car breaks down at the side of the road you should know how to got out and fix it. >> here are some older pictures of the auto shop which closed in 2006 after the teacher retired. the last time i saw high school auto shop was in a movie. there was even a catchy song that went with it. ♪ >> oh, yeah. i love that movie. >> so why now? why reintroduce something many considered long gone? many educators are finally realizing that there should be other options for students other than college. >> it's not simply an issue of sending kids to college. it's really preparing our students to be ready for the world. and it's college and career. >> the trade unions and toyota gave most of the money to restart the program at washington. today there is a competition among auto dealers to secure good mechanics. many predict there will be a shortage of technicians in the near future.

the belmont community is coming together today to celebrate a local team that almost clinched the little league world series. today's festivities for the belmont redwood shores all-stars gets underway at 10:00 at the belmont sports complex. it will include an award ceremony and an autograph session with team members and a barbecue. the team was only one win away from the little league world series when it fell to chula vista in the west regional championship game last month. in sports, this afternoon the raiders play their home opener hosting jacksonville, kick-off is at 1:25. then tonight at 5:30 the pregame hype will finally be over. the 49ers battle the rival seahawks in seattle. yesterday fifth-ranked stanford squared off against army at west point. it was a game that was closer than expected. here's abc7 news sports director larry beil with the highlights in this morning's sports. >> good morning, everybody. stanford is ranked number five in the nation. they have legitimate national title aspirations, but, boy, did they struggle at army. early kickoff at west point. john elway on the sidelines.

diablo. you still see some low clouds lingering but it is going to warm up nicely as well in the east bay. antioch currently at 67 degrees. that's one of our warmest spots. santa rosa has been still hanging on to the fog at 55 degrees. here's a shot from mt. tam showing you some overcast conditions over parts of the bay but we are also again getting to the sunshine. low clouds and patchy fog, that's what we've been dealing with this morning, but more sun shane this afternoon, especially along the coast. warmer days midweek. and also a chance of rain. so i'll explain. here's the water vapor image. we have the cooler air mass moving in, and it also shows the moisture levels in the upper levels of the atmosphere. we also have the orange, which shows dryer air. so we have cooler air, dryer air, coastal clearing, sunny skies, but numbers not warmer, in fact even possibly a degree cooler in some locations.
