on monday killing a dozen and wounding eight others before he was killed in a police shootout. >> the actions have had an everlasting effect on the families. i don't know why he does what he did. i will never be able to ask him why. to the families of the victims, i am so, so very sorry this has happened. my heart is broken. >> we are just lending two day before the rampage aaron alexis visited a gun store and firing range in virginia. the white house announced president obama will attend a memorial service on sunday for the shooting victims. a family in livermore lost a loved one in the horrific shooting at 1/2 yard. they will head east for a memorial service. abc7 news reporter katie marzullo talked with the family. >> the 51-year-old was working at navy yard as an information contractor. her brother said it was and still is a horrible shock that

she was shot and killed. he lost his sister. >> a great loss for the whole family. she was the core of our family. we lost her. >> the children are grieving, as well, and their hearts go tout her children, their cousins. >> just horrible. i cannot imagine what they are feeling. i want to take them in my arms. >> her oldest daughter just got married. the mother of the bride is all smiles in the wedding pictures and she had reason to smile after five years with the sea systems command she just was promoted. >> i was so proud of her. she always went for her goals. >> her career took her all over the world but her family says nothing mattered more to mary than her two daughters. >> she has a younger sister in florida. family is originally from north carolina. her dad was a green beret and an instructor as fort bragg.

>> katie marzullo, thank you, we will have continuing coverage of the navy yard shooting with the latest information online at abc7news.com. we are tweeting the latest develop 349s, as well. >> a four block chase of a burglary suspect in oakland ended with the suspect's vehicle flipping over. police arrested the suspect and his accomplice. they are wanted in a series of vehicle break-ins. police found the suspects to have a series of video games, xboxs and other gaming equipment. >> the oakland a's will host the angels this afternoon at the coliseum hoping nothing will stink up the joint. hit rally. a sueage problem has reappeared at the division leading team. our news reporter is at the coliseum. amy? >> raw sueage in the dugout. they are working on the problem to have it fixed by the time today's game is started. look at the video: we can show

you the crews working on it, this morning, work on the plumbing. they are snaking the line trying to get it clear and they say it will be fixed for today's game. we have video from last night's game and you can see the a's player standing outside the dug out to avoid stepping in the backup. a's officials are down playing the problem saying this is like a toilet backup you have at your home. this isn't the first sueage problem the stadium has had. one of the players said it was kind of repulsive. we asked an official about that quote. >> that is a reaction to what happened early in the season which was a much bigger deal than what happened last night. we are in an old facility and things happen. we continue to work through them. >> this is just something that happened last night, minor, and it will be taken care of. >> last night is not related to what happened in june. that is when they had a massive

sewage backup that impacted several bathrooms and offices. we asked, what does this issue do to the a's and their move or possible move to san jose? that move still needs approval for major league baseball. he theys us they are not focused on that but focused on winning games and getting into the playoffs. he has no comment about a move to san jose. today's game is against the angels and it stated at 12:35. >> today, the uc board of regents will consider a plant to spend $600,000 to fix an empty mansion in the east bay hills located in kensington north of berkeley. the university of california presidents have lived at that home since 1968. it has been vacant for five years and nears major repairs. it is in such bad shape u.c. will spend $10,000 a month to rent a house in oakland for the incoming president.

>> san mateo police release this surveillance video of a suspect wanted in a string of overnight commercial burglaries. police say six businesses were hit september 11th in the area of 25th avenue. here is another photo of the same suspect. police are trying to figure if he is working alone or if he is part of a group. most of the burglaries the suspect got in a back entrance. >>the c.e.o. starbucks is taking a public stand on whether customers can bring firearms into the stores. he sent an open letter to the public asking for remain ad customers to leave the guns at home unless they law enforcement abc7 news reporter matt keller joins us from campbell. >> starbucks is popular because of the coffee drains but a debate over the open-carry

policieses that reached a boiling point. starbucks is known for the options: whether you like black coffee or triple vente latte nonfat with no foam but if you are a gun owner who likes to bring the firearm in public you have a less option: the c.e.o. is requesting that customers no longer bring firearms into the tores and outdoor seating areas unless they are authorized law enforcement personnel. in in a letter he stayed is a request and now an outright ban because we want to give responsible gun owners the chance to respect our request and this could require our partners to confront armed customers. people we have spoken with are divided about allowing guns into the coffee shop. >> i don't have a problem with it. >> i believe in the second amendment only in a basic way. i don't think people should ever be allowed to carry firearms around. not just starbucks, but anywhere.

we have issues but mainly over the ocean. better day for sailing, and a lot of sunshine out there and live doppler 7 hd shows it is clear. here is what i am talking about, small craft advisory until...say, 3:00 a.m. tomorrow morning for the coast. that is for northwest winds at 15- to 25-knots and half moon bay is eight so they will pick up a little bit this afternoon. fairfield is 14 miles per hour, but it is coming from the north and that is when you know you have high pressure and all wind bars are moving in different direction so the wins are light and variable and less than 10 miles per hour. from the satellite, this is how it looks, we have a few clouds for the only sunrise and beautiful sunrise this morning as the clouds were uplit by the sunshine and they moved on and we have just total sunshine today and temperatures responding nicely with a lost 60's and 70's out there already. here is how it looks from east bay hills camera, pretty clean

hour out there for high pressure and we can see almost to the fair lawn with this sunshine and it will be warmer, calmer, clear sky, maybe not so cool as it was this morning where we had 40's in the napa valley and half moon bay and we have a weak system for friday evening into saturday morning. the key is, very weak system. this is how it looks from mount tamalpais, you can see haze out this but nothing to worry about as we look to sutro tower and down the peninsula with the higher elevations. the sunshine and warmer weather is the story from three degrees warmer than yesterday to 11 degrees warmer and 80 in san jose and cupertino. mid-to-upper 70's in sunnyvale and milpitas. mid 80's in los gatos and gilroy. peninsula is mid-70's to 80 in redwood city and los altos. mid-to-upper 60's along the cost low-to-mid spent in downtown, south san francisco, and sausalito. gorgeous day to take pictures. we will have mid-80's through the north bay valley.
