upper 60s to mid-70s for the a's game. it should be about 73 along the coast. low to mid-60ths. partly cloudy and inland will top out in the upper 70s. looking for a warmer day for the first full day of fall coming up in a few minutes. carolyn. >> developing news in san francisco. one person has died and two others have been injured following a car crash. it happened just after 10:00 when a car crashed into a wall on westbound i-80 at the fifth street off-ramp. three people were in the car. one was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. the extent of the injuries of the other two are not no one. the off-ramp was closed for about an hour while crews worked to clear the scene. no word yet on what caused the crash. a san francisco police officer was injured after crashing into another car. it happened just after 3:30 yesterday afternoon at california street and 12th avenue. a witness told abc7 news the officer appeared to be on a cell

phone and ran a red light. investigators have confirmed the officer broadsided another vehicle, but will only say the details are still under investigation. the other driver was not hurt. the officer was transported to the hospital, but he was not seriously injured. this morning an east palo alto man is in custody, suspected of killing two women earlier this month. police arrested danny coleman yesterday. they plan to charge him with two counts of murder. investigators say he crashed into the woman's car september 2nd in san jose. the two women were killed. they were heading to work at the airport. now to developing news out of kenya. a hostage standoff with islamic extremists continues one day after they attacked using rifles in a shopping mall in nairobi.

a u.c. graduate is injured. the woman currently lives in kenya. three other americans were also injured. the latest tally indicates 59 people were killed and 175 injured in that attack at the nairobi mall by al-qaeda-linked somali militants. chuck sievertson has the latest. >> more than 24 hours after the attack began authorities believe 10 to 15 attackers are still inside. >> foreign language] >> it started in broad day light saturday afternoon. rescued, but for the hostages still inside, it remains far from over. happening today, president obama will remember the victims of the washington navy yard shooting during a memorial service in their honor. the late afternoon services being held at the marine barracks washington near the navy facility where officials say 34-year-old aaron alexis fatally shot a dozen people on monday. 8 others you were injured. police killed alexis in a gun battle. president and first lady will visit with the victims' families today. a moment of silence in the bay area to remember the navy yard shooting victims. it happened on a ceremony on board the uss hornet in alameda yesterday, honoring female veterans. they were presented with spectacular specially-made quilts of valor in recognition of their service. >> it is a very nice thing to do for people, especially today since there was a women's aviation theme. we found a lot of women who have served and who are worthy of the

valiant quilts. >> one was an aviator in desert storm, and another served in vietnam. their valor quilts were courtesy of the valley quilters of pleasanton. it appears the 49ers will not keep all-pro linebacker aldon smith off the field this afternoon at candlestick, despite being arrested for drunk driving. they arrested smith in san jose friday morning. he was found unconscious with his truck with the engine still running. police say his blood alcohol level was double the legal limit. he also had marijuana in his car, police said. after bailing himself off he was back at practice just a few hours later. he's number 99 in this video from an earlier practice. the coach jim harbaugh said nfl policy said the league will decide if smith will be suspended. smith is due in court in november. the oakland a's magic number is 1, and the team could clinch

new this morning, an old macy's building in houston came crashing down this morning. the downtown build was imploded, around 7:30 houston time. quite a dramatic sight there. this ten-story building first opened as a foley's department store back in 1947. our affiliate in houston reports the building came down as planned without scattering too much debris. crews will now work to wash all that dust you see created there caused by that implosion. they will wash it from the windows of neighboring buildings.

a computer problem has put off the arrival of a cargo ship at the international space station. the capsule which launched wednesday will not pull up at the space station as planned this morning. the virginia-based company said it's now working on a repair for the computer glitch, but that will take at least two days. the cargo spacecraft is carrying 1300 pounds of food and clothes to the international space station. some people can't get enough of the old bay bridge, even though it's been closed for about three weeks. taggers and trespassers are sneaking on to the closed span. abc7 news reporter john alston has the story. >> reporter: well, that didn't take long. taggers left their mark on the old eastern span of the bay bridge which is supposed to be off-limits to the public. it's graffiti with a huge risk. >> i kind of think it's kind of foolish, actually, because if there's nobody there and there's barriers and they get injured, they are going on the outside of the structure, they can fall, get hurt. >> within the past few days drivers noticed the new paint job on the side of the old s-curve near the tunnel.

>> it's bound to happen eventually. that's what i thought. people, you know, there is tagging everywhere. >> it is also presenting a serious security issue for caltrans which still owns the defunct bridge and the chp which must keep unwanted people off the old road deck. they caught one or two the very first week the new bridge opened. >> trespassing is a misdemeanor, and they can be charged with a misdemeanor offense of trespassing. obviously for their safety we don't want people to be up there. >> but that is apparently happening, despite the barricades. and even though this is considered a construction zone slated for demolition. >> the idea is for people to not be on the span of the bridge. we have things set up that i can't talk about, but in addition to that we have officers patrolling. >> and the chp said violators will be prosecuted if they are

caught. abc7 news. drivers across the state could be in for a big treat by halloween. our media partner, "the mercury news" reports analysts expect gas prices to drop between 40 to 45 cents a gallon by the time trick-or-treating rolls around. experts say gas prices have a history of dropping from mid-september through halloween, but it is going to be a bigger dip than usual this year. the reasons, the light hurricane season and easing of middle east tensions and refinery fixes here at home. the average price for a gallon of gas in san francisco is $4.07. in san jose it's four dollars. and in oakland it's $3.99.

a highrise luxury apartment building will be opening soon in san francisco as part of a plan to revitalize the still seedy mid-market area. that's the stretch of market street between fifth and vaness. lilian kim takes us on a tour. >> it's called nema tore new market. when it is done it will have about 750 luxury units. rental units, a pool, fitness center, and valet parking are included. >> this is one of our studios. kyle is getting his first look at a finished unit. he signed a lease for 1 bedroom for $3,400 a month. >> to be honest, i could have moved anywhere in the city, sonoma and mission bay have some great apartments. but to be downtown in the heart of the city and really feel its pulse, i feel i couldn't be better off. >> twitter was like the game changer. >> san francisco mayor ed lee credits twitter for the domino effect it created. two years ago the company accepted a tax break from the city and signed a lease on tenth and market and other tech companies followed and a dormant nema project got going again. in a few years 4,000 housing units will be added to the mid-market corridor. bart is here, transit is there,

breaking news out of san francisco right now where police have cord donned off an area alongside highway 280 after a car crashed into a power pole and caught fire u see it smoking there. this is a look right now, a live look at the scene near sell by street and evans avenue. authorities say the accident happened just before 9:00. we are learning that the car is still on fire and, as you saw there in this live shot, it is overturned. authorities say there are live wires down on the street. pg&e crews are on their way to the scene. we are learning that the driver of the car took off on foot. no word yet on any injuries.

warm through the 70s. tomorrow we have 80s on tap. yesterday's low pressure system moving to the east. with high pressure setting up offshore we will have that sea breeze. it will be a pretty good one after 2:00, 3:00. then as the high builds in tomorrow we will get into more northerly gradient. that will warm us up. a few clouds around to the north invading the north bay later on today. but let's take a glimpse quickly at the next seven days in oakland. you will notice a very warm day tomorrow, upper 70s. then we drop off tuesday, wednesday, only to recover for the end of the week. and if you live out over into the south bay, today cool. mid-70s but breezy tomorrow. despite yesterday's rain, we will have high fire danger through the weekend. so keep that in mind. this morning's chill just above freezing in lake tahoe.
